Many contractors can make a roof/siding project look good upfront, but how to they stand behind…read moretheir work? In high winds we had a piece of siding come off. They responded within 2 hours on a warranty work order to remedy the problem (during the wind storm) and check the house for any other potential issues. No questions asked, no hassle about it being 'an extreme event'. Just took my call, dispatched a laborer, job done. We contracted Lyster to replace our roof and siding in 2015. They did a fantastic job. They gave great support on developing scope and estimate on the roof per how we where using the house. We have a converted attic to living space and as such we had ice damming issues that led to the need for a new roof. They went above code on ice protection and modified the roof deck to ventilate 'as best as possible' per our use of the space. Wonderful communication, great project management, easy to work with on issues that are always bound to come up on renovations. I will admit they were not our low bidder, but their price was reasonable and their workmanship and support of their work was worth the price. You get what you pay for.

We were happy with the work that was done on our house. Had roof, soffit, and gutters done. Roof…read morewas done professionally. Had a 3-person crew who worked fast and hard to get the roof done. It has rained a ton since then and no problems. Soffit was installed with only a minor problem when the installers arrived and discovered they had the incorrect materials. But they had the correct materials but had the correct materials by the next day and installed that day. They left a lot of the scrap in the driveway and said the gutter people would remove it. The gutter people came about two weeks after, installed the gutters but did not remove the scrap material. One call to Hanson's and the material was removed the next day. For multiple day jobs, like the roof there needs to be a portapotty brought to the yard. I told Hanson's (initial salesperson, person on the phone and the Greensky financing company) that I would write them a check for the full amount at the end but I was put into the financing company where I had to pay both an interest payment and an activation fee. But all in all, we are happy with our result.

Twice I actually answered and screamed "STOP CALLING!" Other times I ignored it. I reported them to FTC. I now see multiple 616 (Holland MI) area code numbers showing up below the 1800Hansons #. So if you block one number another one will call because the 616 numbers are not "1800hansons." Scum. If hansons is reading this, you really know how to make your business fail by word of mouth, it just can't happen too fast. Have fun declaring bankruptcy.

Brett Reighard came to our home this morning and made a very convincing sales presentation. We…read moreespecially liked the way he addressed our concerns and covered all aspects of a major purchase. Mr. Reighard sold us on the quality and beauty of the door we were considering and although I had not planned to make a purchase today we did buy the Pella door. We are replacing a Pella door that has seen 30 years of hard use. The price was almost half of what I was quoted by a major competitor we think it's an outstanding value.

I am not a person who normally complains a lot, but our experience with Pella was infuriating…read more They sold us 5 new windows and aluminum wrap on those and 3 existing windows. The installers were nice, but they did an incredibly shoddy job on the wrap, with pieces buckling and hanging long past the edges and/or partially split. Each of the 8 wraps had issues, many had multiple issues, and some were large enough that you could see it from a significant distance. We pointed it out to the sub and they tried to claim it was supposed to be like that and would let the water run off, which even if it was true wouldn't make sense since they had a couple that didn't stick out on one side! We are getting our siding done and the measurer for that project happened to come the next day and confirmed it was poorly done and would prevent them from installing the new J channels flush to the windows. The person I spoke to at Pella later and the person the subcontract managing the install both saw pictures and at least acknowledged it was badly done. The Pella measurer did a lead test and told me it was negative. I thought that was surprising since our house was built in 1941, and told him so, but figured it was possible. When the sub came to do the install they had a positive test and said they would do lead safe practices, but that didn't happen - they did nothing to contain the risk of dust entering the inside of our house - no plastic, but they later lied and claimed they did to Pella. They even told Pella that they put up a lead hazard sign, which is also a total lie and was easy enough for us to get confirmation from our neighbors, other contractors doing separate work on our house, and my own eyes, as I was present for some of the work. The measurer also did a poor job as they had to add stops on some of the windows to plug the gaps in the difference in the size from the order. Pella originally sold us new basement windows only for the measurer to come out later and say the salesperson never should have sold us them and installation wasn't possible. So we had to redo that contract and find a new company to do the basement windows. We went with Pella, knowing we were paying more than we would with other contractors who even install Pella windows themselves, because we expected quality service. I got a call from the person whom Pella subcontracts managing the install and she was nice but wanted to have the same subcontractor come out to redo the work. I was hesitant given the initial shoddy quality but agreed. I asked about the lead and she explained that wasn't her area but said she would have a manager at Pella call me (I guess they weren't going to?). I got a call from Mike Nelson at Pella, who never apologized and just said they would make it right by having the people come out to redo it. When I asked about the lead he said the installers indicated they followed lead safe practices, including putting up plastic and a lead hazard sign. At that point I got upset because I knew it was a bold faced lie. I just want my money back on the wraps and get someone else to do the work because I do not trust those subcontractors. Supposedly I will hear back by the end of the next business day from someone else about refunds (I was told I was not allowed to have their number myself) but my experience so far indicates Pella will refuse to take responsibility.
