Misleading insurance coverage information - abundantly clear to me that they really only want private pay patients.

Jaywalker Lodge

Their team operates with a rare blend of humility and excellence--grounded in personal recovery, deeply attuned to clinical best practices, and unshakably committed to their mission of helping men rebuild meaningful lives. Jaywalker is more than a treatment center--it's a community. You can feel it the moment you step on campus. The staff meet clients with truth, compassion, and accountability, creating a space where real transformation can take root. I've had the honor of referring to Jaywalker and collaborating with their team for years, and every interaction has reinforced my respect for the work they do. If you're looking for a place where men are truly seen, challenged, and supported to grow--Jaywalker Lodge is that place.

I've been a fan of Jaywalker Lodge for years, and my respect for what they've built has only grown…read moreover time. As a fellow behavioral health professional who has referred clients to Jaywalker and spent time on the ground in Carbondale with their team, I've had a front-row seat to what this program actually produces, and it's the real thing. Let me start with the obvious: the location is extraordinary. Carbondale is one of the most beautiful places in this country, and Jaywalker leverages that setting in a way that actually matters clinically. Their clients aren't just staring at mountains, they're experiencing all that incredible place has to offer (skiing, mountain biking, etc.). That connection to the outdoors isn't a selling point, it's part of how men rediscover what it feels like to be alive. But what makes Jaywalker truly exceptional isn't the scenery, it's the community. Carbondale has embraced this program in a way I've never seen in any other treatment market. You can't walk through town without running into an alumnus who stayed, built a life, found work, and put down roots. I've seen this firsthand - walking those streets, talking with people who came for treatment and never left because they finally had something worth staying for. That kind of living proof is rare and powerful. I've sat with their clinical and leadership team, seen how they operate up close, and walked away more impressed each time. Their communication is exceptional, their collaboration with families is thoughtful, and the sustained recoveries I've seen in referred clients speak for themselves. This is a team that isn't content with where they are, they're always evolving, always raising the bar, and they hold themselves to a standard the rest of the industry should be studying. The leadership operates with genuine integrity. That's not something you can fake long-term, and it's certainly not something you can fake in person. Jaywalker has been proving it for years. I tell people this often and I mean it sincerely: if I ever needed treatment myself, Jaywalker Lodge would be my first call.

4Winds Farm - Beautiful view at the farm!

4Winds Farm

4 years ago in the aftermath of a traumatic event that left me broken and incapacitated, I…read morediscovered a uniquely special place where women can go to begin to heal from the devastating effects of trauma. 4Winds Farm. After learning more about it, I chose it over a medication centric, traditional psychiatric facility and I'm so glad I did. This was nothing short of a transformational experience for me. 4Winds takes a creative and wholistic approach to healing thus engaging the body, mind and spirit. To begin with, the setting nestled in the Colorado mountains is breathtaking. The homemade mostly organic meals are delicious and nutritious. At 4Winds I found a profoundly powerful sense of family, belonging and community that functioned as a source of love and much needed support. In addition to more conventional psychotherapy and psychiatry, 4Winds employs a variety of modalities with which to address the consequences of trauma. For example, SE (somatic experiencing) therapy, EMDR (rapid eye desensitization reprocessing), microdosing, equine therapy, ketamine infusion, psychodrama and perhaps most importantly, the accumulation of new information and ideas that serve to reshape our perceptions of ourselves, others and the world around us. No matter what methods are used, I will say that healing is a journey. It takes time and diligence. 3 years have passed since my time at 4Winds Farm. I find that I make daily use of all I learned and experienced there and I've been gifted with many fruits of my labor. As I reflect back I feel such a deep sense of gratitude for all the life lessons I integrated and that have guided and informed me and will continue to do so for the rest of my days. PS: Brigitte is a force of nature!

I arrived barely able to function due to debilitating anxiety and grief. I left with my head held high knowing I had power within me to create a beautiful new path in life. Within the first two days, the staff helped me identify patterns of my behavior that were not serving me. This is a scared place of community and healing. All of the services offered (somatic therapy, acupuncture, Chinese medicine, an emphasis on nutrition, rest and movement, brain spotting, medicinal plant therapy/journeys, energy work and more) ALL worked together to help me restore to a place where I felt like I could come back to my life and continue on the journey of being my best self. I think it's important to note that in order to get the best experience-one must be ready to take an honest look at themselves and be open to the help offered. It was not easy but anything that fosters sustainable change isn't easy. I felt that this made it more effective. The women there (both clients and practitioners) are such safe people with so much knowledge and love. They have all followed up with me since I left and have made me feel secure even from afar. The apartments were clean and beautiful. The food was the best I've ever had (they have a private chef on staff that cooks organic and local foods). I will forever cherish the time I had at 4Winds. I was referred by a trusted friend in sobriety after experiencing a lot of trauma at the end of 2023. I would recommend this facility to anyone needing help releasing trauma, grief, addiction, negative behavioral patterns, a nervous system in overdrive and even just a general reset. I can't wait to go back and visit this sacred space! Dora and Brigette (owners) are some of the most amazing people I've ever met. They speak to you on a very personal level and it never felt like I was being treated as a 'patient'. I was treated like a human being!

The people leaving one star reviews are likely those who have had no prior experience with…read moretreatment or simply could not commit themselves to the sacrifices that residential treatment requires. I would like to preface this by saying I am in no way connected to this facility by family relationship or paid testimonial, and completed a full 90 days here. I have experienced truly horrible treatment at other facilities and was incredibly hesitant to come to residential treatment here. I came in incredibly skeptical and vocal of my skepticism. From the very first time I spoke to Madison, the admissions director, I was immediately put at ease. Though I experienced challenges throughout my time here, the staff has handled them professionally and ensured my comfort and safety throughout. The administrative staff handles feedback very well and are willing to make reasonable changes to programming as appropriate. I came in largely not wanting to get sober for the long run, and am leaving both inspired and hopeful in my recovery. Before attending Momenta, I could not imagine a future for myself, and I could not be more grateful to the staff here for their help in ensuring I felt confident in my life and recovery before discharge. Alumni are a huge part of the program here. We frequently had past clients speak at Friday meetings, or come by for dinner. This in itself is a huge testament to Momenta's commitment to support not only while clients are in the program, but as they progress to other living situations and stages of their recovery. I have made connections here that I feel confident will last a lifetime, and I know that should I ever struggle in the future, Momenta will continue to be a resource for me. I am incredibly grateful for this program, the staff, and fellow clients. I would recommend this program to anyone struggling with trauma or addiction.

Before I share about my personal (incredible experience) at Momenta I would first like to address…read morethe negative reviews left by people because they nearly prevented me from coming to the most remarkable healing journey I have embarked on to date. I do not doubt or question that what was shared was how they felt their experience was for them. However, as a woman in her mid 40s and a business owner I will also say that having been through Momenta and experienced love, honesty, rigorous reflection and hard work as a result of what the Momenta team helped me to discover within, I can honestly say, that if someone is asked to leave it is for both the safety of the the fellow women in residence as well as acknowledging that Momenta has tried every reasonable path to help the individual and it is no longer in their best interest to stay there, whatever the reason may be. That is very comforting to me. So please do not let one persons experience deter you from finding the healing, peace, love and (for me the most crucial piece of the experience) only authentic sense of Safety I've ever known. I came to Momenta broken beyond all recognition. I truly was unable to discern what was real from what was not real. I had been numbing a lifetime of traumas (big and small) with substances which "worked" until they didn't. When I initially went, I figured if I can just deal with my traumas in a healthy way then I won't have issues with addiction. For me, I came to discover that was not my truth. Instead I learned that getting better wasn't simply a matter of dealing with my traumas, getting "sober" or just dealing with life better. Recovery is a journey that one must choose every day and if one does, Momenta is a beautiful place to get started on it. There I learned to love and trust myself for the first time. I learned what a healthy community looked and felt like for the first time and how much I enjoyed and need it in my life. I learned that life is going to keep throwing hard things at you regardless of whether you are on this journey or not, but with the right tools and support it is much easier to get through. I lost my mom unexpectedly half way through and had to leave for a brief time to attend to that. Every day, every step of the way, I was held, loved, supported and NEVER FELT ALONE through one of the most painful experiences of my life. I can not fathom how I would have gotten through that and remained sober without the people and principles taught at Momenta. Since completing my 90 days at Momenta life has continued to be difficult, challenging, uncertain and frustrating. However, I now get to experience it fully which includes being present, feeling not just the hard but the beautiful moments too. I am discovering a playfulness within myself that had long since been shoved out of sight and am trustful that it is safe to do so as often as I choose. I am learning how to use my voice in effective ways. So many tools I was not only taught but was able to practice so that when it comes time to use them in "real life" it doesn't feel intimidating but empowering. I could go on and on, but this is already too long as it is and I would rather you just call and speak with any one on staff there about any questions or concerns you have about attending. You will be so glad you did. Even if you decide Momenta isn't right for you, I would be willing to bet, you will have a life changing phone conversation at the very least. Yes, Momenta is that amazing from start to finish. Except there is no finish. Once you are there, you are family. Period.

The facility told us they had openings in assisted living and memory care when I inquired in November. My mother-in-law came to stay with us over the holidays. As I tried to make arrangements for admittance things became difficult. The admittance director would not return my calls. They said they would need to do an assessment in our home and someone from their nursing team would call us to set up an appointment. That never happened. Finally I was able to reach the director by phone she told me they had met as a team and decided not to take my mother-in-law. I had been honest with them saying she had some bathroom difficulties and sometimes got angry. ( Isn't that why people need to go to a nursing home? I wasn't trying to get her into a finishing school.) Anyway I found them less than helpful and somewhat rude. Not returning phone calls is not acceptable business practice.

I had an awesome visit there today, complete with one of the best massages I've ever had (Jenny!), and I tried out about 8 or 9 of the 16 pools that were open. The bathroom was clean and overall fine, nothing fancy. Lots of steps to get to the various pools, so this wouldn't be a great visit for anyone with mobility impairment. A couple additional tips: --When you're using your favorite map app, make sure you get directions to the actual place (resort and spa), NOT to the town itself. Once you're in town, you'll have zero cell service. --Is the place a bit rustic and quirky? Yes, and that's part of the charm. The indoor lounge area looks like the set of Roseanne and probably hasn't been updated since the early 90's. But it's cozy and welcoming, there are snacks for sale, and a free coffee/tea bar. --good spots to hang out and relax around the property if you need a break from soaking; just a few are under cover if it's super sunny or raining/snowing. While my husband and I are glad we checked off the experience, I can't say we would go back. The amenities do the job: showers, changing stalls, lockers, etc - but they are unkept and need an upgrade (ex: the curtains aren't wide enough and they're moldy). The variety of pools/water temps are nice, but they all look like they've seen better days. Parking is free, don't count of having cell service.
