We used All Paint and Drywall for some major, major cracks in our dry wall. In some places, they were not just your hairline crack near windows and door fames, but were large spaces from floor to ceiling n the middle of the walls where our foundation had shifted. After spending a large amount of money having our Foundation complete re-paired, we were anxious to get the big drywall job done. Bruce was able to come over within 48 hours of us contact him, he took pictures, walked the house, and explained how long he thought the job would take. Within another 48 hours we had an estimate in hand. Bruce was easy to schedule with as well. The work started on time as scheduled, and after the first day, coming home was definitely sobering experience. Bruce had covered all of the furniture and moved it to the middle of all of the rooms. He had laid the proper protection on the floors and carpets and had already completed a big chunk of round 1. The next few days were cutting down lrge portions of drywall, replacing those, and continuing to add more drywawll to the large cracks and hairline cracks. At the end of each day, while the house was not in ideal shape, Bruce had kept all furniture and floor covered and there was no major cleanup for me to do. At the end of the project, Bruce moved back as much of the large furniture as he could, but did leave some small odds and ends to make sure they were put back where we wanted them. 6 days of non-stop work from Bruce and his helper, and our walls/house could not look better. We are so, so pleased with his work. You would never know the major cracks ever existed. The texturing of the wall blends right in to how it was previously and the paint was matched perfectly. We are very impressed with his work and could not be more pleased with the finished product. Bruce is easy to work with, easy to get a hold of, upfront on costs or if any additional costs may come up, and ony asked for 50% of the jobs funds on day 1, then the remaining on the last day. Pretty standard and typical, no issue there. Bruce also kept a tidy work area with very minimal clean up on our end at the end of it. Once I get some before and after pictures, I will post those. He was an hour late the next day! That should have been the first red flag. Then I waited 4 days for a quote repair on drywall. I called their office and spoke to a rude woman who couldn't tell me when nor where Bruce was, to deliver a quote. Also she wasn't allowed to give me his cell number even though I had his business card from the consult 4 days ago. 2 minutes after I hung up from the office call Bruce (emails lol) me this. "Good morning Stacy, I will have pass on your water damage project. Do not use this company! We hired Bruce to come finish out a bonus area that we needed completed into a room. Bruce claimed he needed half of the money for supplies up front. He showed up promptly for that check. Once cashed... he was supposedly sick for weeks. First it was allergies, then the flu, then maybe covid, then bronchitis. After we fired Bruce- we asked for our money back & only received excuses on why he could not pay us. Now we are proceeding with small claims court. read more

******USE THIS COMPANY AT YOUR OWN RISK****** Where to even begin... We have been working with Bruce Cowan and All Paint and Drywall for over 3 months now (since April 22nd). We purchased our lake house in March and have since then redone the foundation, put in new HVAC system, built decks, fences, had landscaping done, had the entire house rewired, put in new tile, vaulted the ceilings and installed new windows, etc, Bruce Cowan has been BY FAR the most unprofessional, dishonest, and disappointing contractor we have encountered to date. We hired Bruce in April to stain the outside of the house and replace all rotten wood as the exterior phase 1 of the project, then for phase 2 (interior) he was to repair existing and install new sheet rock and finish out our house including trim, prime, and paint. Exterior was quoted to be 1 week and $2,325. Exterior ended up taking over TWO MONTHS and costing DOUBLE what was initially quoted. It took him over a month to even start and three times during the job he would demand more money than was in initial contract and would simply quit working until we paid him. We made the mistake of paying him 50% up front, so he knew that we would rather continue to pay him to keep the job moving forward than lose our deposit. My partner and I travel heavily (he owns 4 stores nationwide in the food industry, and I manage global manufacturing for a multi-billion dollar engineering firm) and we didn't have time to argue with him or to find someone else for the job. Bruce came up with countless excuses for more money and delays which kept him from working. These ranged from our INTERIOR loft not being finished which he said was somehow delaying him from working on the EXTERIOR of the house to excuses involving the installation quality of our new windows (which were put in by a professional). He finally finished phase 1 of the project, broke a window in the process, and did not clean up any of the construction debris as he had agreed to in his contract. Somehow we agreed to start the interior project with him as well after he refused to finish phase 1 until getting an advance for phase 2. Phase two was quoted to take 10 days or less and we agreed of a price increase from $5,250 to $7,500 due to additional sheet rocking area from our loft and recently vaulted ceilings. We walked the interior of the house together probably 4 times together discussing details and making sure everything was included in our quote so that we wouldn't have any more unexpected expenses and delays. A week later I went to inspect the progress and found that there was little to none, it looked like he had worked less than an hour over the entire 7 days removing a few small pieces of wood trim. He was there moving in 42 pieces of sheet rock and said he would be in the morning to knock out the job. So i give him the benefit of the doubt that he will get to work and I leave. A week later I receive a call from the neighbor that our door is standing wide open to the house. I go out to the lake to find the house has been looted, many items stolen and both front and back doors are standing wide open with cobwebs growing because they have been open so long. The A/C had also been running all week as Bruce had requested us to leave it on for him. For the second time, i clean up multiple beer cans and cigarette butts inside of our house. I call Bruce, of course he does not answer as usual. So we send him an email saying that we assume that he has walked of the job, we change codes to the house and he either needs to refund our 50% deposit, or have the job finished in a week. We fully expected him to not finish and we wanted to fire him on the spot, but as he had $3,750 we decided we would try to get a little more work out of him. He agrees to finish and says that he had left the house locked. Two days later, he texts saying that he has some issues with the house (representing about 25% of house). He refuses to work and says that there will be additional costs and I need to come meet him to pay him more money. I ask him to please work on remainder of sheet rock job, and we will evaluate additional work after seeing some progress. He refuses again saying that he needs more money. I explain to him that nothing has changed in the state of house since our last 4 walk through's and i am tired of his excuses and I don't want to contract him for anything additional. He again refuses to work saying he wants more money. After he continued to refuse to work, we were forced to fire him as it was clear that he had no intention of finishing the job. Our house is still not complete. Everything except Bruce's portion of our home's renovations has been finished for over a month now and we have had to hire a separate contractor to complete the job. Mr Cowan, at All Paint and drywall contracted to 2 step sand and spray oil base primer then spray paint oil base White Dove colored paint inside and out. I had checked and he holds an A+ rating with the BBB??? I, my own fault did not read the reviews, believing that having such a good rating he would be reputable. He did not work but approximately 10 hours (being generous) for THREE days on the cabinets including taping them off. He was contracted to plastic wrap all of our appliances, which he did not. When they sanded our NEW refrigerator and hot water heater then left uncovered and covered in paint dust from the sanding. They barely swept up the kitchen and left. My wife had to vacuum the mess up. By the time I got home, there was still dust everywhere. That evening after complaining about how wet and humid it had been he said he would not be able to finish on time. He also then texted me that his spray rig was not working and he could not get another. So he wanted to roll or brush on the paint and let let me see how he did. I requested that he rent a sprayer and do what we contracted him to do. He said it would cost 98 dollars per day, of which, he expected me to additionally pay for. For three days? Then he texted that he wanted me to contract him to paint the exterior of the home to offset his costs of the sprayer, complaining that his labor and materials were too high already. He showed up at 9am the next morning and we asked him to return our doors and drawers and hardware that he had taken (to his shop where he could paint them) He then demanded another 275 dollars for his labor that we owed him. Yet he had NOT put ANY paint on any cabinets or drawers or doors, as of yet. All we had asked was that he return our doors an cabinets to be completed at our home. He then immediately started cursing my wife and calling her a crazy and nuts? He again demanded extra payment and left. Being threatening in his manner. We went to the Kaufman police department and filed a complaint, while there he texted me and threatened me that if I did NOT pay him the 275 dollars, by 3pm and pick up my property (of which, HE removed and refused to return) he would start charging me storage fees of 95 dollars per day. We were led over to his home (NOT a shop, but, a 2 story garage looking like it could fall down) by 2 Kaufman police officers (who, all that we talked with at the police department, know of this person) and having explained that he was conning extra payment to retrieve my property. They explained that it is a civil matter, but assisted us, in watching US having to load my truck of our OWN property and take it back to our now disheveled home and kitchen. I was sort of surprised that his wife and mother stood GLARING at us while we waited. I PAID him the 275 dollars of con money. He IMMEDIATELY ran to the bank to cash the check. I assume he figured others would con him. This is NOT a reputable person OR company and I am going to file a civil suit against him for the anguish this had caused my wife and for the WRONG Paint color and for having to have our kitchen cleaned and then FIXED by a reputable painter. I am NOW having to hire a reputable painter at MORE cost what should have been done TODAY Thursday!!! Mr. Cowan has several other complaints filed THIS very year over false business practices, yet seems to still KEEP a good rating???? Last night I finally read the reviews and hardship and anguish that other families were put thru with his LESS than desirable business practices. He drives around with a BBB magnet on his truck falsely advertising that he does reputable work. I cannot express in words without being crass what I think of this person and his company. I am sickened by the fraud that was perpetrated by this company. The humiliation and having to pay MORE money for work NOT being done. If you hire this person, you are doing so with knowledge from this and other reviews. UPDATE: Mr. Cowan put the incorrect paint color on the contract, I did not catch that is was Dover White instead of White Dove. I had texted him the correct paint color. I haven't actually had work done by Mr. Cowan - however, I will say that he is unquestionably dedicated to making things right. When talking to him, the first thing he did was bring up the negative review on Yelp. This was for nothing more than allowing me to research him and give him the opportunity to explain the situation - and even after hearing his explanation, reading the response (btw, don't sign a contract without reading it because then you'll get the wrong paint color - and it'll be your fault) it seems as though the homeowner was just disappointed. It happens. It's also very emotionally charged, as the homeowner is throwing a lot of dirt on Bruce for literally just trying. I applaud the response from the business owner in being equally transparent which is something that is a lost art. I'd rather have someone tell me everything upfront (which even the complainant admits is the case) than be burned by the bigger companies that don't have their livelihood at stake with every job. read more
