We spent a couple hours at the park doing the hike to the waterfall. It was pretty leisurely and the grade is mild so it made for a comfortable trek. If you are planning to hike here, drive as faaaaaar as you can before parking. If you choose to park in the first lots you'll be walking about a mile just to get to the trail head. The trails were beautiful and the waterfall is so fun! You really can climb and explore it, I would suggest bringing plenty of water to drink and shoes that you can walk through the water in.

I've been many times so this isn't a one- off experience. Staff is typically very young and untrained. If it's crazy busy I'm patient, but if there are only one or two other tables and the staff is just standing around talking and provide terrible service, it's frustrating. Recently stopped in and stood by the hostess stand for 10 mins without any acknowledgment. They weren't that busy, but the hostess was cleaning tables, so we didn't mind waiting. When she came over no greeting or anything. We asked for a table and she just handed us a buzzer without saying a word. If there's a wait, good grief please just communicate that. I asked how long the wait was as she was walking away and she says "45 mins"... crazy she expected us to wait without telling us how long it would be. I honestly think this place would do much better if it was self-service. The food is OK but the cod sandwich did have visible parasites last time I ordered it.

The drinks were tasty, the service was very friendly (from the moment we were greeted and seated outside, to our server and inside the store itself). This is a super family friendly place, but do know there is LOTS of partying going on at the bar - it's a marina at Norris Lake, I'd expect nothing less. During the summer they do theme nights. You'll see everything from Halloween to a Polynesian luau. These guys don't mess around. The food is quite good too. We ordered the chicken quesadilla with everything (based on the recommendation of our "dock guy") and it was really tasty. It's very filling and packed with cheese (so if you are not a cheese person, might want to order it with light cheese). The onion rings are so good and served with a remoulade type dressing. One of us ordered the grouper bites. He didn't love them, but they weren't bad. Of course, we're on a lake, not the ocean, so it's to be expected. As for drinks, they have a good variety of beers and can make just about anything you'd like. I ordered a mai tai and it was strong and delicious. It was SO tempting to buy something in the gift shop. It's the best gift shop I've seen on the lake. So if you're looking for a fun souvenir, beach gear, a great hat, or even jewelry, stop in here. You won't be disappointed. They also have plenty of GREAT beverage options - alcoholic and otherwise. I was impressed with their selection. The lake front spots are our favorite and we love that the kids can carry their kayaks into the water on their own. You can rent boats from a local dock 10ish minutes away driving if you don't have one, or you can put your boat in not far and keep it near your site in the water. The bathrooms are relatively clean and hook ups and water are fine. The only complaint we have is that there are tons of ants everywhere. If you drop food, they will find it. Last year they tried to climb up our jacks and get into our camper so we always try to remember to bring any spray. There is a ton of goose poop around the sites by the water but we just use bags we use for the dog's poop and throw it away so we don't step on it.

Would recommend to others but would I would definitely pick a different campsite next time (52) just because of the slope to get in/out and not being level (but the view from this site is beautiful!!)

So I take the blame for having to call the marina to verify where to pickup the boat. Pam was great getting us checked in and on our way. The boat performed well and we had a great day on Norris lake. My only complaint/suggestion, and why they lost one star, is the life jackets on the boat smelled like body odor. There were at least 8 life jackets stuffed into the back storage compartment. They were damp and just nasty. Luckily we brought our own so we didn't have to use them. Seems simple to pull all the jackets out, sanitize them(scuba places have this down for wetsuits), then hang them out to dry for the next customers. Besides that I would recommend twin cove for a boat rental if you have the need.

There are easy up to very difficult trails, there are bike trails, and they even will bring riders up to the top along with their bike. My guess is that my group traveled around 70+ miles over the two days I was there. Now I need to replace a busted tire and a bent rim. The Windrock campground is also quite large and clean. I stayed in a tent site that had plenty of room. The parking is setup to handle visitors with trailers and extra vehicles. The bathhouses are nice and the hot water is plentiful. Overall, I had a great time. The personnel I interacted with were really knowledgeable and friendly.

My buddy and I were biking to Myrtle Beach from Colorado and this was our last campsite before the last stretch in. We did a regular campsite right behind bathhouse #2 and let me tell you...10/10 would and will camp here again. Toilets, showers, open spaces, far enough away neighbors that aren't tent camping. That shower after 1300 miles on a motorcycle was THE best. Reserving the spot the day of our arrival was even better. The gal was very helpful and made the booking process so easy. The ONLY thing...it's a bit of a steep paved road, about 1/4 mile, to get from the road to the campgrounds. But, we made it up on our motorcycles and there were several toy haulers up here as well.
