Wood Brothers Carpet & Flooring - Laminate!

    Wood Brothers Carpet & Flooring

I went to Wood Brothers Carpet to purchase a carpet for my kitchen. I have a German Shepherd who…read morehas bad hips and has a hard time walking on Leolium. He is always slipping. So I walk into the carpet store, the smell of fresh new carpet hits your nose like a chocolate cake baking in the oven. So Heavenly. Taylor greeted me, and I told him I needed a 6 by 8 carpet for my kitchen. So Taylor tells me we have 6 by 12 carpets. OK, let's go see them. So we went upstairs. It was like carpet heaven to me. There are so many beautiful colors and sizes. So I picked out one with the help of my dad, whom I sent photos to. Taylor gave me a nice price on this carpet. After I bought the carpet and Taylor put the carpet in my car. I told him I give you 2 thumbs up 5 stars and tons of kudos. You're doing a great job. Then, when I was in my car, I realized I had forgotten to buy three floor mats that were on sale for 3 dollars each. So I went back into the store and bought the three mats. Thank you again, Wood Brothers, for all the help you have given me. I give you 2 thumbs up 5 stars and tons of kudos. You rock in my book. I will be telling my friends and family to come here to shop for their carpet and Linoleum.

We had 2000 sq ft. of beautiful wood flooring put in March of 2019. After six months the wood was…read moresplitting and the finish was chipping off. My husband and I suspected that the wood was "green" . Mannington has a 50 year well written warranty so I wasn't worried, other than the inconvenience of having to move out and do it over. Mannington sent out their inspectors and they claimed the damage was our fault!! Something about humidity and that we needed to instal a house humidifier. Huh?! This is my third wood floor in this area and in 20 years, I have never had wood coming apart on the grain or the finish coming off. Wood Brothers were also shocked with the report results and went after Mannington. Even Mannington's local representative agreed about the faulty product, but Mannington Company stood firm. No deal! SO lesson learned - The 50 year Mannington warranty means nothing. Most of the time Mannington has very good products, but not every time. Wood Brothers has stood behind their product 100% and is going to do the whole job over free of any charges to me! Wow! Even floor removal and installation of the new product! Mannington corporation = BIG BAD COMPANY Wood Brothers = OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE

I told her I would like to get a quote on carpet and set up to have measurements done. She huffed and walked away. I stood, confused about what I had done to offend her. Apparently she went to go get a coworker because she didn't know how to do that. The coworker (without addressing me) told the drab woman to just put me on Friday at 10:30. Drab woman took my name and basic information, wrote them on a piece of paper and wrote my last name on a whiteboard that they had posted on the wall. Friday at 10:30. No one asked me if that would work for my schedule. Luckily, I had cleared the day to be able to get quotes so I didn't say anything. She thanked me and looked at me like I was supposed to leave. I asked if I could look at carpet samples and get a few prices so I can get an idea of what I'm looking out for the project. She made a face and walked me over to a different counter and said "this is what you had to choose from". She showed me 4 small carpet squares. FOUR CARPET CHOICES at a floor covering store?! She said that those were my choices unless I wanted to pay freight. I asked The price of the carpet at which point she huffed again and walked away. Again, she wasn't sure about that either. Not sure why she works there since she obviously had no clue what she was doing or had no knowledge of carpet whatsoever. Maybe she was holding the chairs down that day. Anyways, she returned after speaking to the other coworker and told me it was $15.01 a square-foot. I told her that seemed high and she squished her face and said "new floors are expensive " at which point I thanked her and walked out. While I was leaving I looped around the store just to make sure I wasn't missing anything. There was ONE other customer in the store. One employee in the back sitting at a computer and the employee that she kept going to for help that was now out front talking to a friend. Terrible horrible experience. Would never go back.

Towne is literally the worst business we have ever had the displeasure of working with. To say we…read moreare unhappy with our flooring install experience would be an understatement. We had the Mannington AduraMax in Gunstock installed. This flooring DENTS. The installer dented new planks moving our fridge back. He had to rip them out but missed a couple that we noticed later that night, so he had to come back out and redo it again. Guess what? The floor dented again when moving our fridge back. My husband had the idea to lay another layer of the same plank (that was damaged previously) over the flooring to protect it against denting...it didn't work! It dented right through the layer on top. After being ripped out and fixed AGAIN, they layered our old laminate over the flooring when moving the fridge...it didn't dent underneath. For some reason, our old low quality laminate doesn't dent, but this stuff does. The manager claims this is standard for LVP after my husband complained, but no one disclosed this to us. It was touted as top of the line, waterproof, scratch resistant...but no one said it dents easily. Also, we know people with LVP and none of them have had this issue. The floor is also "bouncy" in several areas. We were assured by the installer and two different people at Towne that it is normal and would settle, but it hasn't. When my husband complained to the installer again when he came to fix the denting, he said that our floor wasn't level...yet he told us before installing that nothing needed to be done and he was going to start laying the plank! So which is it? Is our floor level or not level? And if it wasn't level that should have been mentioned and corrected prior to the floor being installed. My husband called Towne and talked to the manager, who came and looked at our floor. He had the installer come AGAIN to level a spot on the floor, but it didn't help because there are multiple spots that need to be leveled. But that's not all! The installer didn't put silicone along the walls that border the outside, which is what we had before. My husband told him we would like it done because it was there when the old laminate was ripped out. The installer insisted there was no need for it and he's never seen that before. We wound up having bugs coming in that way, specifically an army of ants. We have NEVER had that issue before, so clearly it was because he didn't put the silicone back along the walls. He also cut one of our baseboards despite it being the perfect size, so now the baseboard has a cut in it, there were scratches and scuff marks that wouldn't come out and needed to be fixed, and my husband had to help move appliances when we PAID for it to be done. We were told verbally that there is a two year warranty on the install. My husband asked to get that in writing. He was told that it is in the contract. My husband looked...it's not in the contract. He asked again to get it in writing, to which they told us verbally that there's a two year warranty. For some reason, they really don't want us to have proof that there's a two year warranty! Our floor still isn't fixed. We want a discount and to be over this whole situation, but they want to redo our floor, which means more time out of our lives and having to move heavy furniture that was a struggle to move the first time around. We have a very heavy piano and cabinet that we were barely able to move the first time around. The other option was a $200 discount to keep it as is, which is insulting for everything we've had to deal with. Even if they come out and redo the flooring, we deserve more than $200 off for everything we've had to put up with! To make matters worse, Towne never checked in to make sure we were happy with any of the fixes. They just sent us the bill in the mail. Now they are threatening to take us to collections. Horrible company. Go anywhere else. Update: They came again. Ripped the floor up again. Still did not fix the problem. We are sick of wasting our time with these people. Only $460 off our total bill for their incompetence and flooring that still is not level and has squishy spots all over.

Rant: California Renovation (Cal Reno) and Roseville Carpet One (RCO)…read more Roseville Carpet One owns California Renovation in Chico. If you're looking for floors, carpet or other services look elsewhere. I had my entire house outfitted with 100% waterproof SPC flooring. The product is high quality, the staff at California Renovation are unbelievably the worst. Around a year after the floors were installed, I noticed a big split at the joint pulling up as seen in picture two. Note, the damaged area has a large rug there 365 days of the year unless needed to clean. I called Cal Reno, they sent out there installation manager. He put a moisture tester to the floor, and said "yup, exactly as I expected. The floors are too wet and you're over mopping." Then proceeded to tell me I needed to use a special mop that I hand wring out to wash the floors. Information that was never provided if true. Then quoted me $600 to replace the four boards in that area. I honestly believed them, maybe I was over mopping. Then the floors started getting worse and in areas that have never been mopped. So I started doing my own research. I looked up the my warranty: 25yrs commercial - 50yrs residential. 100% waterproof. The warranty literally says you can spill water on the floor, leave it and it won't damage it. But clean it up in a timely matter to prevent mold. I called Cal Reno back six months later, the installation manager came back out and said the same thing. Proceeded to tell me I'm mopping too wet and I need a special mop. Long story short, I fought with Cal Reno and RCO for months. They refused to submit a claim to Republic flooring. During my research I found the manufacturer rescinded parts of the warranty. Now the floors are warrantied for 25yrs, half of what it was originally. It also mentioned Visqueen, a moisture barrier must be applied before setting the floors, which was never done. I later found out the manufacturer had changed their warranty 8 months after my floors were installed due to moisture issues and several customers, some of whom were Cal Reno or RCO customers had to have their floors replaced. Also, warranty makes no mention of a special mop. Finally, after a lengthy emails stating the facts, hours of research and second opinions, Cal Reno said they would replace the floors "at cost" and come out to measure. I simply replied no and kept fighting, almost needing to go to court. Finally I thought I won, that same installation manager came back out and said, "we are only going to replace the damaged sections, we want to go easy on the manufacturer." I was almost in shock. Whose side are you on? The bill goes to the manufacturer not you guys. I was fed up at this point, was willing to take whatever I could get and thanked him for fighting on my behalf to get the floors replaced. To my disgust he said, "no, we just forwarded your email to the manufacturer and they said yes." All said and done, the whole house was replaced with new floors that had under two years of wear. I went with this company because my neighbor also used them, and unbeknownst to me, they also had issues they fought for months with their carpet. This was after my contract was in place. The first and second pictures have rugs all year round except for cleaning. Last picture shows the mold and mildew after the floors were taken out. They even had to go back and fill in more cracks in the foundation, with lots of rework. Overall, the floors are great, warranty is(was) amazing, but this company sucks. Doesn't care about you, the hard earned money you spent and will not help you if you have issues. Go elsewhere.
