We've always recommended this place to all our friends with pets & new cat parents that adopted from our cat/kitten foster group. We've also invested a great deal of time, energy, trust, and money in this practice. But last week that all changed with a very traumatic experience when we lost our beloved cat Ziggy. It will haunt us for the rest of our lives what we saw, & went through. We were treated very poorly with our eldest cat Ziggy who was the sweetest most gentle little soul. This place is not what it once was after shifting owners. Unfortunately this place is riding on the coattails of its previous good reputation. Ziggy was the cat that changed the minds of people who were afraid or misunderstood them. He greeted anyone who came to our home & would sit on their lap instantly. He also had a keen sense for bad characters, for example we had a repair man & I almost caught him stealing. I knew something was off when Ziggy didn't greet him. Cats have super powers like that, they know when someone isn't kind hearted & is hiding behind a fake mask of smiles. Our little protector is gone & his untimely death could have been prevented. We have yet not received the detailed medical records/receipts of the day he died despite asking multiple requests. We were never made aware of what he was going through despite being told we would be called back in a few minutes & nothing would be done without our approval first. Instead 20 minutes passed. Our bill is astronomical & we feel so trapped by this experience. He started having seizures Dec. '25. We scheduled the 1st visit & they assigned us a new vet that he's never seen & made us feel even more confused because they suggested he might have cancer. We sought a second vet's opinion at another place & they said he still had several years of life, & to continue his special diet & hydration methods. They saw his blood work & did not determine cancer. Then they suggested we go back to our primary vet (this place) & ask to consider kidney disease as the cause of the seizures to receive medicine to stop the seizures. So in March I scheduled another visit with the same concern only to be dismissed again because I didn't agree to x-rays & MRI. She suggested I should think about euthanizing him. She didn't validate the detailed description I provided in order for her to determine what he needed & wasted my time. Ziggy ran out of time thanks to this. They seem to think that a pet parent's descriptions are useless & that a machine can determine it better. At some point she suggested he was "just tired" -- I know the difference between tired & looking off, you know it in your gut! I have spent over $5,000 dollars here & in such a short amount of time to try & get my cat the help he needed. I feel like they just saw dollar signs, not a little soul who needed serious help without exploiting the vulnerability of his situation. Instead I felt like I was going in circles at this place, every time I booked an appointment they ran the same expensive blood test & offered only premium expensive options. If I start asking for more options they'll bring up euthanasia, which was brought up multiple times causing me distress. He was still very much a lively 12 y/o cat, eating well, drinking water, active, performing his tricks, playing with toys & with his step sisters, & improving in his daily activity thanks to the supplement taurine which we started on all our cats last year. When I told her that this supplement was working she doubted & seemed annoyed. Her tone discouraged me from thinking it made any difference at all. The oddest part is how she expressed denial when I told her he was more active but still having motionless episodes aka seizures. He needed medicine. Never again will I set foot here. We feel betrayed after years of being loyal patients. Our trust has been broken with irreversible damage. Ziggy is gone forever & his case was in our opinion mishandled. There was no compassion. They overstepped boundaries that made us very uncomfortable & caused us to question how things transpired. The way they handled Ziggy's case & the poor customer service we received after his death is so painful. They even threatened legal action when we protested our dissatisfaction with their services & lack of billing transparency. Our 1st Amendment rights aren't being considered here. This is a painful nightmare we never thought Ziggy nor us would have to ever endure. It will take us a lot of time to heal due to all the added aggression we received. RIP our sweet baby boy you deserved so much more.

My cat was a patient here for five years, she was recently seen by a different vet, who recommended a surgery that went wrong and performed procedures I did not approve, and then never returned three emergency texts and calls, nor apologized for a number of issues that put my cat in jeopardy. Which led me to complain and raise a number of issues; which led me to discover this is not my local queer inclusive accountable vet but actually a part of A CHAIN and just another capitalistic infrastructure that has zero local accountability to the animals and people that trust them. Woodstock and Argos are still locally owned. Go here at your own risk **Update: MAH escalated this to the corporate entity that owns them, who outsourced it to a claims specialist to assess risk of lawsuit. There was low risk assessed, so therefore no apology, accountability, or restitution. We appreciate their flexibility and availability, as we do not have to schedule appointments months in advance. We have even had more than one situation in which we had to bring our animals in unexpectedly, and each time they were quick to call back and were able to get us in within hours. The turnaround time for the testing we have gotten has also been incredibly quick (usually within hours) and we appreciate how thorough they are when they explain findings, options, etc. They truly seem focused on providing the highest quality of care without the fear of bankruptcy. It never feels like they are trying to sell you on something to increase their profits rather, they are transparent about pricing and often recommend the less is more approach and what options can be explored/tried before jumping to the most expensive interventions right off the bat and each time, their recommended interventions have been spot on in addressing our pets' needs. Dr. Weiss' straight to the point approach really eases your anxiety, because he focuses on the symptoms and presentation and what can concretely be done rather than allowing you to let your mind get the best of you or worrying yourself with all the what if's. We are really grateful to have found this practice and look forward to working with them for years to come.

When my one cat passed and my anxiety was heightened regarding my other cats, they were understanding. They take time to explain things in a way that makes sense. No- the office is not "money hungry." Plenty of times, I have called and asked if certain things are worth coming in for or if can be treated at home. The office will call back in a timely manner, and advise me after consulting with a doctor or tech. They have helped my pets and I avoid many trips (financially great but my guys now hate car rides) Even after moving, I kept coming here. Sure, my cats don't like the car rides but their integrity, skill, and character are worth it. Thanks for everything RAH!

Talk about a new world! For the first time, my cat wasn't feral in the foyer or with any of the vets and staff at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital. The level of caring, compassion, knowledge, and experience by every one of the staff at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital is stellar. I realized what a sh*tshow Community Animal Hospital is in comparison! Customarily, my cat has to be sedated and contrary to Community Animal Hospital, it didn't take 1-2 days but 1-2 hours to recover. There's a lot more, especially paying 67% less on fees - the estimates were right on target unlike Community Animal Hospital which changes estimates on a whim. Most importantly, I was informed that my cat's lab work revealed a reversal of his kidney disease in the one year since he's been a patient at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital. That's not only a miracle, but a testimony to them!

She quickly ascertained that these lumps (due to fatty deposits) are common in older dogs, which was a great relief for which I wasn't overcharged! Beyond that, the good doctor and her personable staff are very helpful, gentle, and patient with my somewhat skittish, rescue dog (who has calmed down enough so that she no longer needs a muzzle). Unlike another local vet, I am also allowed to stay with her throughout the examination, and that gives me immense peace of mind. Highly recommended!
