What really stood out to me, though, was the staff. Everyone I encountered was genuinely warm and kind, but I especially want to recognize Wen, the housekeeper on the 17th floor. She was absolutely wonderful, and the other housekeeping staff I met were just as sweet and welcoming. You can tell they work incredibly hard to make guests feel comfortable and taken care of. And a little reminder to fellow travelers: please tip your housekeepers -- and tip them well! They do so much behind the scenes to make your stay enjoyable, and they deserve the recognition. Thank you, Wen and the entire team, for making my stay in New York such a pleasant one.

Upon my arrival, the concierge opened the doors for me and held my luggage while I began checking in. The reception, however, then says I can only check-in if I am signed up for the Marriott rewards...I told her that I wasn't, but this also wasn't mentioned on the phone and her response was "Awe, looks like you can't check-in until 4pm." So I signed up for the rewards and she immediately got my room ready... It was 11am and I felt like that was a pretty b*tchy interaction. The hotel is right next to central park and it being on Madison Ave made it a great central point for good food and easy access. Now... the room?? Amazing, fantastic, spacious, delicious, and a reaaallly good size for NY. It had cable which I feel like is pretty rare in hotels nowadays and room service made it feel like a new room every day! I ordered the Portobello Mushroom sandwich with a side of fries and broccolini. The sandwich was cold (which was unexpected) and lacked any kind of seasoning - Felt like they dipped the mushroom in oil and put it between two pieces of bread. They served it with this dipping sauce that was absolutely delicious, but the meal bloated me almost immediately. Overall 5/10 on the food. This hotel wouldn't make my top 5.

No response to either call. I managed to snag fresh towels myself off the housekeeping cart in the hall! Front desk staff were not overly friendly but did their jobs. Kudos to Sam who arranged car transportation twice for us. He was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We did have dinner in adjoining Chaz Palmintieri restaurant as it was raining, and we didn't want to go out again. Meals were good but verrry pricey. Wouldn't do that again.

I checked into this hotel and was told parking my car for three nights with their valet service would cost 350 dollars. I know this was during a big event at the Javits Center, but even so,116 dollars a night for garage parking is crazy, bordering on extortion. The garage just down the street charged a quarter of that cost. The ladies at the front desk were polite and friendly, and that's about the best experience I had at this place. I checked into my room, which I booked at this hotel because I have celiac disease and rely heavily on meal prepping and cooking my own food when traveling, because most local restaurants, vendors and shops just aren't an option for me. So I needed a hotel room with a microwave, small stove and decent sized fridge. The fridge was leaking water when I arrived. The microwave was broken and despite me calling down and asking the front desk to look at it (and them promising they would "send an engineer"), they never did send anyone to fix it. I moved the chair to sit down and do some work, and there was a fully exposed electrical outlet jammed right up against a curtain, just waiting to start a fire. The room was old and the furniture banged up. A lot of the drawers were badly jammed and hard to use. The cabinet doors over the stove were broken. There was hair in the bathroom. The "kitchen flatware" advertised included two spoons, two forks, two butter knives, one steak knife with a broken handle, one butcher knife, a large plastic spoon and no spatula, but instead a kind of grilling meat fork. Most of the things in the kitchen had been put back dirty and had to be washed before use. The showerhead barely functioned at all, making showers next to impossible, and there was no hot water on my second morning there. I made the best of it out of necessity and checked out at the end of my trip. I showed the woman at the front counter a picture of just the electrical outlet (zoomed in, without any context for it) and she immediately identified it as being "the one behind the chair", so they already knew about it, but just didn't bother to fix it. This is a MASSIVE fire risk, and a hazard to anyone staying in the room with small children who might stick their fingers into the wall space around the socket and get electrocuted. I mentioned the microwave had never gotten looked at and was broken during my stay and the lady at the desk simply ignored me, turned away and said nothing until I left the hotel. I would recommend staying at this hotel only if it's your absolute only option.

This is the main convention center in New York City. I have been here several times for New York…read moreComic Con and New York Marathon events. It is very large center with many rooms. If anyone else has been here for Comic Con you know how spread out it is and how many people can fit here. It is much easier to get to now with the seven train connecting to midtown. Before you had to get off at the one train and walk all the way which was a pain. It is connected to the building next door which has five floors of available space. All the rooms were booked with meetings and performances. I love the large space to walk around and enjoy the conventions. The only downside is the food prices here. It costs around $20 for a sandwich and $5 for a coffee. It is unfortunate but you have to pay the high prices in order to eat. Otherwise you have to go out and walk around to find a nearby restaurant which defeats the purpose to begin at the convention.

Construction was happening across the street but they must have a good sound insulation bc I don't hear it. The front desk gave me water bottles and there's a mini fridge. The best part of this hotel is they have an airport shuttle service that runs 24 hrs or they make arrangements, which makes for a VIP experience.
