I was recently searching for a guitar repair shop to help properly set up my Fender EVH guitar's…read moreD-Tuna device (it was not working adequately and causing strings to go slightly out of tune). My first call was to 12th Fret on Hawthorne... they had done some fret work for me 20 years ago, and I was impressed with their service and capabilities. However, I didn't get a call back after leaving a voicemail with my service details. I called a few of the other "boutique" repair shops around town, and left voicemails... but again, no call back. I finally found a shop that picked up the phone, but when he said he had never heard of the D-Tuna device, I said never mind. Then I remembered local Tigard Music had a repair shop. I called and spoke with Mark, and felt really good about the conversation, and brought my guitar in. While my request was not a common service request, Mark did some research and came up with a solution that worked perfectly. He also addressed a fret issue for me, and did both services for a great price. He even gave me advice on some other minor fixes I could do myself without spending a lot of money. I was very impressed. I will definitely be bringing my guitars for repair/upgrades to Mark and Tigard Music in the future! P.S. While I am primarily a guitar player, I bought a ukulele from them recently, and the selection/prices were great! Aloha!

Evan helped me pick out a recorder, electric piano, and sheet music. Very sincere and most helpful. Can't decide if I want to rent or buy a flute and they have options for that when I'm ready. Most don't rent any longer. Must say this is my new favorite shopping experience! An exciting journey and first time in years my head hurt. I'm actually learning! How long has it been for you and why are you missing out?!

I've never been so insulted. These clowns must have assumed they were stolen. "Where'd you get them? Why are you selling?..." Hey pal, I have multiple instruments and these were two I almost never play (as if it's any of their business). They claimed there were problems with both and weren't interested. Now, I have done business with them multiple times, but they can kiss this customer goodbye! I'm not a thief, but these guys are jerks. To prove these were from my personal collection, I've included a picture of my remaining guitars. I ended up gifting the guitars to my niece.

But I came at about 2:45 and the whole place was still dark. Just a thought - maybe have enough staff around at all times that some of your employees can take lunch while others are still on shift? Were they closed for summer vacation again and just didn't tell anyone? Sorry, but I'm all done here. You've wasted enough of my time. At one time Portland Music Co. was the best in the city. Those days are gone. It's better to buy music online nowadays anyway. The prices are often marked down by 20% or more if you get in on a holiday sale or something.

Recently did a trade in for a PRS Silver Sky SE and Dan was super helpful. Prior to this, I've sold a number of things and worked with the manager Kona and a few others and also found him to be incredibly knowledgeable, up front and kind. All in all it's been my go to music shop for buying and selling gear. And I can't recommend them enough. Oh and don't forget to ask for the trade-up offer. I've done it for years now where you sell your used gear and get 10% off something new.

One of the kids purchased a beautiful guitar that sounded ok for the sale price, the quality was good and the looks was very nice. The kid bought it using her own money. But there was buzzing from the 4 string at 9th fret. After two days she took it back for warranty repairs. The guitar repair person tried three times to fix it but couldn't. Sales people wanted her to exchange it for a same model but they had the same problem. We took it to the Clackamas store open the people there could repair it, but after a week it was still the same. We ended up trading it for a Washburn guitar. That Washburn is way better than the Mitchell. And sounded great, much better than the Mitchell. I highly recommend not to buy a Mitchell guitar. They're pretty much unplayable and the stores will not do a set up unless you spend $175 extra for set up.

Michael was quick to help me find the perfect Mesa Boogie and brought down some custom PRS guitars so I could rock out and relax. I had a great time playing for a couple of hours. I returned the next day and continued to play and chat with the great staff. Geoff introduced himself and asked what I was interested in. He brought me a few high quality guitars until I couldn't resist. He made me a smoking deal on the JP Mesa Boogie and a beautiful purple mist PRS. I recommend FSG's and will definitely continue business with them even though I am from the Central Valley in California.

I went in to buy a bass and a practice amp. I got talked into buying this little…read morerecording/headphone device for the same price I wanted the amp ($160). I was told I had 30 days to return it. I didn't like it and tried to return it a few weeks later. What I wasn't told was that I'd only get $50 as in store credit if the box was damaged (just the box, not the actual product itself). The worst part was the guy looked up the resell price on a used version and it came to about $80, but he then took 35% off even though it's a return. I then wanted to buy an amp (What I originally wanted before I was talked into something else) and asked for something around the $150 mark. He then tried to talk me into an amp without telling me the price. I had to firmly ask what the price was twice before he told me it's $300. Even though I was visibly upset from losing $100 from a product I bought from them because the box was damaged. I finally got him to show me exactly what I wanted. If you go here, know exactly what you want and be firm about it so you're not talked into getting something you don't want that costs more money. Also know that the boxes their products are in are worth $100 so you can't return a perfect condition product, within their return window, if the box is damaged.
