Fortunately, they scanned the microchips and corrected the error. We are repeat adopters, with a history of four cats adopted over the years. :-) The normal procedure (according to the adoption paperwork and online) is to fully register the microchips at www.petlink.com and I can then add a photograph to the listing and take advantage of the "extras" should anything happen with our cats. I checked the registrations so I could add the photographs. I was surprised to learn that their microchips were not in the system and I immediately registered both, but at the basic level. I telephoned Noah's Ark and spoke to Madison on the first Saturday of June to ask if they could upgrade the listings (as was done with the other four cats). She stated she would look into it and telephone on the upcoming Tuesday. Nothing. I emailed Brook describing what had happened but received no response. The email did not bounce so I believe she received it. Lastly, I telephoned Noah's Ark the first week of July and asked to speak with Stephanie, the manager. She was not in, but Marsha (the office manager) told me to telephone today (July 15) and ask for Brooke. Why? I have been ghosted more than once and we adopted multiple cats (all have worked out well). The correct (and professional) way to handle my call was to take a message or advise as to best date and time to call back to ensure reaching Stephanie. We also donated a great amount of dog supplies, food, and cat food. It would not have taken much to upgrade the microchip registrations to the Premium Lifetime Level. I am retired and only want what was promised in the contract.

And the chinchillas (a nocturnal animal) are placed right next to all of the birds (who are in the process of raising the largest racket every time I'm there). And still I return. The staff member in the lizard area was incredibly helpful in explaining what would work for first time owners. Yesterday, we were in search of guinea pig prices (and without a perks card for other stores, this is the cheapest place with $33). They had about 4, though they were all a bit skiddish. The best part of the trip were the bunnies. Two black and one white, but only the white one was shy, the two black ones were more than willing to hop on over for a pet. Oh my heart melted!! Come here for some of the animals, but not for the supplies (waaay over priced).

We had paid fully for our dog by the end of the first month however, Comenity/Bread put the money in the wrong account. They had to refund cause they couldn't transfer into proper account. They over refunded meanwhile charging interest on both accounts. Straightening out their mistakes took a total of 4 months with many many calls all lasting at least 30 min to 1hour. Don't do it!!!

My parents saw her at the shelter back in 2012 and texted me her photo (because they knew I wanted a cat), and I was like "yes absolutely I want her I will come get her." And the rest is history -- it's been 11 great years with my bestie (and hopefully many more). And then a year later, almost to the day, my parents were like "hey let's go to Adopt" the day after Thanksgiving and they ended up getting a cat (their second) for themselves. I haven't been back to the shelter since 2013 when I went with them when they decided to get their cat, but at that time the shelter was super nice and they had several rooms where cats could roam free. It was a nice, no-stress situation to be able to sit on a sofa or on the floor and have the cats come check you out. So many snuggles. And I follow them on Instagram and they continue to do great work and care deeply for the animals they rescue. Definitely check them out if you are looking for a new best friend! I've had dogs my whole life and when I filled out their paperwork I was of the opinion the only reason I might return a dog would be aggression or if my personal financial situation changed dramatically. The fostering system gave me a much better idea of what I was committing to in this case. My wife, kiddo, and I all came to meet the dog we thought we wanted and after that went well we took her home. It became immediately clear that this girl had not been indoors or socialized very much, if ever. I was very surprised to have essentially a 70lb puppy on my hands. This was more work than I expected, and it was more work than my family expected, but knowing we had time to work with her as a foster in our home environment provided a lot of confidence in seeing how it went. Almost Home was in regular contact to check in with us and provided us with enrichment toys, advice, and resources for taking her to training classes. There was never pressure to keep her, and it was always clear everybody was only interested in what was best for the animal. After a few weeks she was improving, but still more work than I expected, and Almost Home was happy to let us continue to foster until everybody was sure this would be a good fit. Our girl kept improving and we committed to the adoption. Eventually we were able to return our home to normal, and do so free of concerns things would be destroyed. The time and space that was provided to be sure this would all work out resulted in one of the best bonds I've ever had with a dog. We're inseparable these days, and we owe it to the support Almost Home and their volunteers offered throughout the process.
