We had planned on doing a west facing wall but after showing Dave around at our problem areas and weighing the return on investment we decided on the attic. The first team removed all the old insulation with a giant vacuum, the took about 5 hours, the next team came the following day and sprayed in the new foam. There was one little issue that caused damage to the ceiling. They handled the issue like a professional company. They quickly let us know about the issue and had a repair scheduled the same day. After deciding to bring in a professional, Randy came out to my home, thoroughly assessed the problem areas, and put together a detailed quote on the spot. The scope of work included removal of the existing insulation, air sealing around all attic entry points, sanitizing, air baffle installation, and installation of new Weather Blanket cellulose insulation. The new cellulose achieves an R-value that meets or exceeds Illinois code requirements. Paragon's pricing was competitive, though admittedly a bit higher than some of the larger corporate outfits. What made the difference was Randy's willingness to walk me through the entire plan and clearly explain what justified the investment. That transparency, combined with the comfort of working with a local, owner-operated business, made the decision easy. The crew came in and completed the job in about half a day -- fast, efficient, and clean. The entire process was documented with photos and videos, all of which were included with the final invoice. While up in the attic, they even took the time to correct some substandard work a prior contractor had left behind on my bathroom exhaust fans. I couldn't be happier with the results. One night the heat went out and the indoor temp dropped to 49 degrees, so that sealed the deal, we needed better insulation. They also encapsulated the crawl space with spray foam. Turns out there were mice living down there that we had no idea about. One even fell on a worker while they were pulling out the old stuff. Made sure to tell my wife who was on the fence originally about having this done. Big difference since then. No more mice sightings, heating bills are noticeably lower, and the house stays comfortable even when it's really cold outside. Solid work all around.
