Now that my daughter has been at a new school for a while I can give an honest and clear review. Out of the 3 months my child attended this school she was sick 80% of the time. From pink eye, to hand foot and mouth, covid, a common cold with a constant runny nose, the sicknesses were constant. Having experience in child care and teaching for the past 20 years, I know the first month at a new school is tough and kids will get sick but this was ridiculous! I realize now I have PTSD from this place because every time I receive a notification on Brightwheel from my daughter's new school I'm worried something has happened. At least once every week I would receive a message from the director saying my daughter has a fever or is not feeling well and I need to pick her up. She also got a couple scratches and scrapes on her face from other kids.
The reason I'm not giving this place a 1 is because the teachers that were taking care of my daughter were WONDERFUL! They communicate everything clearly, have great personalities and attitudes and do fun and creative activities with their group of kids. I feel sorry that they have to deal with the woman who is in charge there. She has policies that are not clear or consistent and have not been updated in years. If a doctor has cleared a child to return to school, that should be all you need. When we did not agree on a policy, we argued back and forth and she still would not understand that her policies need adjusting or to be explained more directly and clearly for others to understand. After these constant sicknesses and arguments over policies, I had had enough! I then put in our 2 week notice of our withdrawal from the program, following the policy guidelines.
My husband told her he would be giving her a bad review online because of our experience. She then said that my husband threatened her and that it was best to terminate my daughter's attendance immediately because of this. In the school policy it states that the school will provide enough notice and time of termination in order for families to find new accommodations. She did NOT do this. Not only did she not do this but she was trying to keep the tuition we paid for the week my daughter wasn't even going to be attending. When asked for a refund she said "we don't normally give refunds but we will in this case". Another absolutely ridiculous policy, which is NOT stated in the contract. At the last minute, I had to find family members to take care of my daughter while we looked for a new school.
Since leaving this school my daughter has not been sick once. I never get constant messages from her new school about her getting hurt or scratched or being sick, there is a director there at all times and the school is cleaned by PROFESSIONALS every week. Also note, there is no director there after 4. Whenever I would pick up my daughter, there would be just a guy in the office, who has no child care credentials, no first aid training, and can't even administer medicine if needed. This is NOT SAFE for your children. Additionally, the rooms should be deep cleaned at the end of EVERY week. The teachers are not the ones who should be responsible for this. A PROFESSIONAL CLEANER should be coming in at the end of every week to clean the facilities. I can tell you for sure that this is NOT happening. When I picked up my daughter's belongings from the school, her things were placed in a couple of bags. When we got home, I was removing her diapers from one of the bags and a LIVE COCKROACH came crawling out of one of the diapers. It was absolutely horrifying!
