Elizabeth Hughes. Arrogant, non-caring, & the most unprofessional human I've ever come across. My adult son & his wife have been taking "Chunk" to see Dr. Moore since March 2023, as she actually cares about both her furry patients & their human companions. In February 2024, Chunky was having issues off-and-on limping on her right front leg. A skin tag she had had since she was adopted had abscessed on her left paw. Dr. Moore removed it, had it tested, & it was benign. Chocolate was brought back in March w/the same limp, same leg; only Dr. Moore was not in and Hughes was. She insisted the issue was with the paw, & even though it was explained to her, she was showing shoulder pain. After looking at an x-ray of the paw, she concluded there was a paw fracture at "some point" in Chocolate's life that was in a healing stage. Hughes insisted on sedating Chunk just to splint & wrap her paw. She was given a hard "NO" for an answer, as both my son and his wife, as her owners, knew she did not have a fracture. Hughes proceeded to guilt, shame, and try to instill fear that they were "harming" Chocolate by not allowing her to drug their 11-year old baby for a splint & misdiagnosis. I should mention that both my son & his wife worked at a dog ranch in TX. & my son is a former medic. She was taken home, where my son personally splinted her, and they waited to hear from Dr. Moore, who confirmed: NO FRACTURE EXISTED. You don't say? 5/17/24. Sadly, this was an urgent visit, so Hughes again. Chunk was not weight bearing on her right front leg. 3rd visit for the same issue. My son's wife was at the airport, & I was asked by my DIL to go to the vet's office ASAP. My son was currently in a room at their office, he had been pressured by Hughes to sedate his dog Chocolate for an x-ray. He had already told her multiple times, "No." There was no need to do it. I called on the way, told them to stop all treatments, we were taking Chunk elsewhere. They promptly put Hughes on the phone. She told me the dog was already sedated, and she didn't understand the confusion. I explained my son's medical condition. Her response? "Your son is having a meltdown." WHY? Because he's crying over what is a child to him & his wife? Like any normal person would have. Only you went there, didn't you? What is wrong with you? I just told a "supposedly" educated professional about a person's private medical condition, that you coerced him after being told NO over and over, and YOU had the nerve to say that was a meltdown? Let's tell all the people on the spectrum or with panic disorders how you really feel, shall we? Your laughable exam lasted 30 seconds, which consisted of her groping the paw, poking into the shoulder, not manipulating it. You had him pay for services BEFORE you performed them. You had staff LIE to him, saying she would be given morphine for the x-ray instead of sedation. It's on the bill I have that, the one I had your office staff reverse every charge except the three legitimate ones. Actually, you didn't give Chocolate morphine, you put it on my son's bill as an INJ., had him PAY for it. Your tech came in & made the mistake of saying the "pill" wasn't working, YOU had to sedate her - which is when he actually got upset. They removed the charge without me asking. When I got there no one would confirm the morphine, NOT EVEN YOU HUGHES. Her records-the papers you threw at me & my son today when I asked you AGAIN what you gave her sedate her, stated NO MORPHINE. You can bet complaints will be filed with every board your on. They charged $25 for med 7 pages of medical records - which in Florida is clearly stated vets can charge $1 per page for the 1st 25, & .25 each additional. See Attached DOC Dr. Moore saved my cat Flerken's life when I was unable to see my normal vet when my mother was dying, that's the ONLY reason I ever came to this place. I sent my family to this place for that very reason. All of them are LEAVING THIS PRACTICE. RUN - I wouldn't take a dog dying across the street from them to this place for FREE CARE. **Chocolate has BONE CANCER in that leg, MY VET's office caught in 1 hour after we left your office. Go to an updated vet's office if you love your pet.

All my babies healthy All About Animals is my secret

Dr Moore is the ONLY person I want handling my pack of 6+ dogs All my dogs love her and she never "sells" my unnecessary service! Every vet is money hungry but she actually cares for my babies and I've never had an issue with her I'm will travel 2hrs to see her if not an emergency

My cat liked the techs so much that he let them carry him around like they were old buddies.

Love Dr Hughes & staff. First time visit with my sick cat who was non-stop vomiting & retching. GI issues are tricky, but Dr Hughes knows her stuff. I'm extremely particular and not impressed with most vets I've tried in the Tampa area. I am however, most definitely impressed with the level of talent Dr Hughes exhibited with us today. Techs were compassionate & on point. Facility is immaculate, and prices were more reasonable than other vets I've experienced. I'm so glad I didn't listen to the other reviews here, and gave them a try. Def going to be bringing the rest of my pack here.

My dead Sweet dog GEORGIA/FLORIDA BOYDO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS TO THIS CLINIC OR BLUE PEARL.

I paid a little over $400 for my sweet dying dog to be treated.AFTER I paid dr Moore informed me if the meds didn't work then he would have to be euthanized..WT literal F? Why the FCK didn't she tell me that in the first place? Oh ic because they wanted my money.PERIOD. So I got to watch my dog suffer and die for about 12 hours. Moore nor dr Hughes gave him ANYTHING FOR HIS PAIN...AFTER THEY HAD TOLD ME HE WAS IN PAIN. FCK YOU ASSHLES. EVERY DOG I HAVE BROUGHT TO YOUR OFFICE HAS DIED. NEVER AGAIN. FILING IT AWAY IN MY MEMORY SLOT...NO MORE...NEVER AGAIN! You lost a long time customer...why don't you come over and help me dig a FCKING grave you GRIFTERS LIARS. Wouldn't even give him a bath because DR. Hughes said it might ''shock'' him. ASSHLES. You inept bunch of monsters. Only a monster would let an animal have fecal matter all over him and REFUSE TO BATHE HIM. THATS JUST UGLY. MAYBE I SHOULD BRING HIS DEAD BODY OVER THERE AND LET YOU BATHE HIM NOW? Let me know what you think idiots!

I candidly would give Zero stars if I could. Decided to give this clinic another chance which has shown to be very poor judgment by me. IF YOU LOVE AND VALUE YOUR ANIMAL, DO NOT TAKE THEM TO THIS CLINIC. I boarded my dog Lemon here at this clinic for 5 days. Upon picking her up, she had scratches on her face and paws and was unable to walk properly (photos and video attached). She is a 85lb rottweiler. I can only assume they had her in a kennel that is way too small for her. Her temperament was completely opposite of the usual. She appeared to be laboring and in pain. Her paws were gnawled off. In analyzing my dog while walking the car, it appeared she had many, many small gnat-like flies all over her. I suspect the kennel she was in was not clean and she was itchy and biting on herself during her stay. Even before picking her up, I was curious about the conditions in which she was staying so i made a request to the front desk upon arriving at the clinic to see what those conditions were like for the dogs being boarded there. I was informed by a lady named Juliana at the front desk that I would have to wait for the doctor to arrive to do so. No problem to me. I sat and waited. The doctor came into the clinc from the back entrance about a hour later but never came to the waiting area to address any concerns. She COMPLETELY REFUSED to allow me to see the conditions in which my dog was being boarded. She did not even have the empathy or care to come to the waiting area to address the fact that my dog was in a completely different condition than what i dropped her off in. All communication I had with the clinic was through Juliana at the front desk who looked to be something like a meth head. She also showed no empathy and actually told me that i should of looked at the conditions before trusting them to take care of my dog. At this point, others are in the waiting room and they are hearing this. No professionalism whatsoever. Now, i have to take my dog to Banfield Animal Hospital to get checked as something as obviously gone very wrong while she was boarded at this vet. Front the front desk receptionists all the way up to the Vet, they do not care about your animal. I want to re-emphasize.. IF YOU LOVE AND VALUE YOUR ANIMAL, DO NOT TAKE THEM TO THIS CLINIC. I have learned the hard way.

Calypso finally got her stitches removed from her emergency C section 4 weeks ago
    Melissa K.

I really do appreciate the care my animals receive when they come into the office. My dog, Calypso, was brought in as an emergency patient. She went into labor 2 weeks early and it had been more then 2 hours between puppies. I'm not sure how Dr Hughes was able to calm my husband, me, and my dog all at the same time. Unfortunately, we lost 5 puppies in the next two days. We had an ultrasound 4 days before and weren't expecting them to come so soon. Also, we only expected "at least 6." I see complaints on here about the wait but please remember, emergencies DO happen. My dog was one of them. Please respect those with emergencies and remember, we LOVE our pets too.

Our sweet Charlie ended up at the emergency vet with a bladder obstruction that required surgery…read more What started as straining to pee turned into a whirlwind of ER visits, anesthesia, and a major procedure to remove stones from his bladder. I don't usually share personal stuff like this, but I'm making this post for one reason only. If you ever have an emergency with your pet, go to VEG ER for Pets. When we were trying to find a vet to perform the surgery, our VEG doctor sat there and personally called vet after vet to get someone to fit us in. And when we finally found the right place, she stayed on the phone with the surgeon and fully briefed him on Charlie's condition so there was not a single gap in his care. They kept us informed, comforted, and confident that our boy was in the best hands. He made it through surgery like a champ and finally came home but after we got him settled, his temperature dropped and we had to rush him back to VEG. They immediately took him in, warmed him, ran an ultrasound to make sure nothing was wrong, monitored him until he was stable... and didn't charge us a dime. Because of how long this whole process was, and having to go back again, we saw three different doctors at VEG, and every single one of them treated Charlie (and us) with the exact same level of urgency, compassion, and kindness. That consistency in care meant everything to us. Charlie is home now, snuggled in blankets, eating, and slowly getting stronger! If you ever face an emergency with your fur baby, VEG is the place to go. We are beyond grateful and will recommend them to anyone and everyone.
