Of the many indications of the autumnal shift- changing foliage, the crunch of leaves underfoot,…read moredarker mornings, earlier sunsets, cooler evenings- it is the Greenwich Wine & Food Festival that is the most anticipated sign of the Fall season. This culinary celebration is an exclusive event, an experience of taste - not only of flavor but of style and panache. Award winning eats and the greats of food and music rub shoulders with the throng as all focus on enjoying and giving back to the community in this exemplary, decorous, fund raiser. On arrival, one is provided with a bottled water, a commemorative wine glass, tote, and schedule of events. Be careful if you go with a group as it will pull in all directions as each person is drawn to different areas; there is so much to choose from, the senses go on overload. Partake of the area's premiere potables and sumptuous edibles from 300+ chefs. Slake your thirst with sommelier presented bespoke intoxicants. Satiate your sweet tooth with swanky syllabubs and choice confections. Meet celebrity chefs doing live demos and book signings. Cast your vote in the annual Burger Battle cooking competition. Line up to help drink the Belgium beer barrels dry and keep all of the collectable glass chalices for your own- yes that tote received on entry is indeed immediately useful. Dance to lush, live music - Ziggy Marley, The Wailers, Old Crow Medicine Show, Tim McGraw (looking mighty fit and sounding amazing, amidst the shouts of adoring fans), Rusted Root, among many others. A past VIP tent hosted a private, hot, hot memorable show with the Funky Meters. Do dig a little deeper into the pocket and spring for the VIP tickets. The VIP tent features artisanal offerings and festive experiences from event partners that shift each year with what's boujee; one year, we enjoyed our lollipop lamb chops while wearing Virtual Reality simulator headsets. Know that 100% of the proceeds goes to free culinary education, food service job training, learning life skills, supporting nutrition and providing affordable access to healthy meals. GWF is a win/win for all and a triumphant ticket to a topflight, luxe, seasonal soiree.

This was my first time attending the Oyster Festival in Oyster Bay (and first time in Long Island)!…read moreIt's nice that there aren't any tickets required for entry, though it is a long haul from NYC. We came on a beautiful Saturday and were super excited to get fresh oysters and (or so we thought) for cheap! It's a nice venue by a school and park right by the bay, and it gets very very crowded, especially in the afternoon. There are some nice craft vendors, but my partner and I were really excited for the food. The seafood options were good, but much more limited than I thought. There was only one vendor selling oysters, and the only mode of preparation was raw (nothing grilled or otherwise more creative). I was pretty surprised by how steep the pricing was, though I'm glad the proceeds go back to the community in some form (6 oysters for $20). I was a bit disappointed by the quality of some of the oysters we got for that pricing, as there were some that were pretty small, flat and not as high quality. The other seafood options were good, and I really enjoyed a fried coconut shrimp kebab that was $25. Overall, it's a nice festival vibe and well managed, just pricey and some of the food quality around the star oyster was not quite up to expectations! I am giving it an extra star because it's by the water and the town was super quaint and beautiful!

We always start with a lobster roll, which unfortunately go up by about $5 per year (they're now at $30 apiece, so not sure if we'll be keeping that part of our tradition). Then we go through the tents to see if there's anything worth buying, and off to the beer tent for a few, and then we gorge ourselves on other delicacies. There's always a woman selling fudge there who I always hit up for a few chunks to take home with me. This year I had a foot long hot dog for $6 from a German place. It was excellent. We'll definitely be back next year, just maybe not eating anymore lobster rolls, as $30 each for 5 people gets a bit steep very quickly.

The price was $15 for adults and $8 for kids aged 5-12. All children are free on Sunday. What perfect timing, we passed by the Mohegan sun booth right in time for the 4pm Tao chef demo session. I've eaten at Tao before, so I was eager to participate. All I had to do was place a $25 bet on the app and it granted my party of 4 admission. The chef was very entertaining. We got a delicious BLT bao bun each and each got a ticket to redeem a $10 drink from a nearby juice truck, Ta' Deliciozo. The juices were made fresh with quality ingredients. To top it off, under our chairs was an envelope with a prize listed. We won merchandise and credit in the app. This was a very good steal! Definitely got our money's worth. We stop by a few tastyfood trucks then watched some of the 6pm Ready Go Dog Show. I enjoyed this event and will definitely be back next year!

We walked around & ended up @ the Mohegan Sun booth 1st. Any one of us (except my niece) could have bet $25 for a free appetizer & drink for each of us. My sister volunteered. The food was from Tao in Mohegan. It was a mini thick bacon sandwich w/ lettuce, tomatoes,& a special sauce. It was pretty good. The drinks were from Ta'Deliciozo truck(Norwich). I'm not gonna lie I found 4 free drink tickets so we all had 2 drinks each. Score!!! I got the guava & then the soursop juice. When I tell you those fresh drinks were soooooo yummy! I then saw a Mr. Softee ice cream truck. I had to get me a vanilla cone w/ rainbow sprinkles. That is my forever order. If you never had Mr.Softee ice cream I don't know what to tell you. You have no idea what you're missing. I also tried vegetable dumplings & bbq breaded chicken cutlets w/ nacho fries . I forget the name of the places. It wasn't that good anyways. Finally, to end it all I attended the dog show! Pretty cool experience overall. I will be back next year!

They had a DJ and a silent party at an additional cost at the end. It was located at 902 Brewing at a brewery which had indoor and outdoor games, beers, seating and a Photo Booth. I enjoyed my empanada, the passionfruit ice cream from Anhelado was yummy, the Oh K dog was good but a bit to much dough for me.The alcoholic gummy bears from Dilena's Dolcini were the truth; the strongest one was the Tequila, we also tried the mojito and rum punch. I'm not a World Cup guy but they've set up a delightful event on Magnolia Ave. with big screens and no pressure to buy anything. The Super Savage Burger at Savage Burgers was a rare one-and-done for me so I didn't get to try the Going Bananas banana flight.
