I did a major closet clean out and expunged my SHEIN, crop tops and prized clothes that fit in my 20s that I can no long mash my plump buns into. 2026 is going to be the year I turn into a fine auntie who wears quality materials. But I had 2 garbage bags full of clothes that had to go, including the fur coats my aunt gave me from this old dead person she befriended (she befriends rich Caucasian people near the end of their life, and I usually get the hand-me-downs, including some wonderful Egyptian cotton sheets!) Enter Buffalo Exchange, a way I could get rid of all my crap and also exchange it for better crap. Every day Buffalo exchange buys clothes, all day. In the olden days you had to just show up and wait, but in the digital age, you can go on their website and sign up ahead of time and it will let you know what the estimated wait time is! I've done that twice & the first time it worked out really well for me, but the second time the website threw me off the waitlist right before it was my turn. Luckily the workers were reasonable and still took me. The wait times IRL can be longer than the website suggests because people like me bring in garbage bags full of clothes, so don't plan to be in a rush. While waiting, you can peruse their assortment of clothes. If you're selling clothes, you get store credit worth 50% of what the clothes would sell for, or you can get 25%, so if you find something you like and you're a selling clothes, it's worth it to opt for store credit. I bought so much stuff The first time I didn't make any money from those fur coats! All in all, I'd say it's a great way to both clean out your closet and exchange it for clothes that better suit your lifestyle. We really should be stepping away from fast fashion and Thrifting is a great way to get a unique piece that nobody else has!

I especially appreciated that the clothing was organized by size, which made browsing much easier. They have just about every style of clothing you could imagine, plus a convenient buyback counter near the entrance where you can bring in and sell your own clothes. The store was extremely busy during our visit, and the checkout lines were quite long. It would have been nice to see a few more staff members helping customers during peak times. Overall, it's a fun place to thrift with a great variety of clothing, fair prices, and an easy-to-shop layout. I'd definitely stop in again when exploring Haight Street.

While the boutique has an emphasis on Hello Kitty products (including clothes, undies, and the usual store you'd see at a Sanrio store), they also carry a variety of young women's clothing. I saw alot of tops that I thought were very cute as well as some nice dresses. I wasn't too familar with many of the clothing brands but I imagine its similar to the brands sold at other Haight St stores like XGeneration. The prices are also not too pricey. I also got to chat briefly with Sarah (who Im assuming is the owner) who is very cute and friendly! We we talking about Hello Kitty most of the time but she definitely has love for her boutique. While leaving the store I also noticed that they carry a small collection of Harajuku lovers up at the register. I will definitely make Ruru one of my regular boutiques I visit when I visit Haight St in the near future.
