However, some dental offices make the experience less horrific than others. Relative to the total experience, The St Laurent Dental Centre, and specifically Dr. Atul Joshi's office, does a good job of making you feel at ease when you sit in the chair. Him and his staff personalize your experience, set amidst a calm atmosphere. They're also helpful in giving practical advice without making you feel like a oral monster. This becomes evident when you see other patients, who have been for the most part going to Dr. Joshi's office for years, forging a long-term relationship. After all, feeling calm, comfortable and at ease is all you can really ask for from your dentist.

I was actually quite anxious just thinking about my appointment! My sister has been going here for years specifically with Dr. Atul Joshi! She finally convinced my mother to go in to see him and she trusts him completely with her teeth ( my mother is very anxious with dentist as well!) After being at my mothers consult I gained trust as well just from meeting him! He and his staff made the experience soothing and calming! My first appointment and consult for myself was today! I was anxious just because now it was my turn ! I felt comfortable knowing how my mum was comfortable with him! Very nice and respectful Doctor. He unlike other dentists tells it how it is and supports whatever your decision but ensures you are informed of all options. He is very respectful in terms of ethics ! He more or less told my mum that the dentist she had been to prior took advantage of her issuance coverage! As much as I hate people toying around in my mouth... This place is the place to go ! No jokes at all! You will feel comfortable and respected! The team is very calming and kind! I know cleaning sucks but at least they make it worth while ! Will continue my dental care here! Very pleased !

Everyone in the office is so friendly yet professional, and they all seem to legitimately love their job. So my regular dentist is actually in Toronto (my hometown) even though I moved away over a decade ago. I still made my twice a year trip to see him, because my whole family and I have been seeing him since I was a child, and he is great. However, sometimes emergencies happen and you need to see a dentist in a more timely manner than is possible with a dentist in a different city. This is how I met Dr. Dan. A while back (pre-pandemic) I was struck in the face during one of my martial arts classes (my reaction time was a bit too slow, I guess) and immediately had pain in one of my teeth. There was no bleeding and it didn't seem loose, but I wanted to see a dentist ASAP. Dr. Dan is actually my husband's dentist, so he e-mailed Dr Dan, since it was after hours, explaining the situation. Dr. Dan responded almost immediately, suggesting that I take some Ibuprofen to minimize inflammation and his office will call me in the morning with an appointment time. As promised, Shane called me in the morning and I saw Dr. Dan later that afternoon. Dr. Dan was excellent, explaining everything he was doing along the way. He was even sympathetic to my situation, lol. He examined me and determined that I had no permanent damage to my tooth. Never did he pressure me to become one of his regular patients, and he was very understanding as to why I still trekked to Toronto to see my dentist. He said he was happy to be there for me for emergencies. I ended up also getting a customized mouth guard through Dr. Dan after the incident. The price was very reasonable and the fit is so much better than those generic "boil and bite" ones that you get at sports stores. I was seen by the dental hygienists for the mouth guard and they were great too. Fast forward to one year into the Covid-19 Pandemic (and 13 months since my last dental cleaning), it didn't make sense to travel to Toronto for a dental appointment, so I called Westboro Dental Station. Dr. Dan wasn't available, but Dr. Emma Wong was, so I became one of her patients. She was also great. Very thorough and patient. As much as I like my dentist in Toronto, the convenience of being able to walk to my dental appointments can't be beat. I'm hoping my Toronto dentist understands. Westboro Dental Station is, you guessed it, in Westboro, so the parking situation is not great. There is street parking if you can find it or a paid parking lot nearby. Luckily for me, I don't need to worry about parking.

I've always been leery about finding a dentist since you really get the impression that some of them don't really care and are just there to "extract" (Get it? HA!) as much money from at each visit. I settled on Westboro Station Dental after doing some research and finding very good reviews about the clinic and Dr. Dan. I went in as a new patient and Dr. Dan and his staff did a great job. They did a thorough examination and Dr. Dan also took the time to explain and show me exactly the state of my teeth and what needed to be done to correct some sensitivity I was having with one tooth. I also had a cleaning during this initial visit and was very pleased: very thorough and no discomfort. Definitely recommended.

Dr. Sandhu was a great dentist, until he wasn't - and then he was the worst…read more If this was just about my dental work, this would be a very different review. Sadly, that's not the case. My wife went in for some extractions in preparation for partial dentures. There was a questionable (not really after seeing the x-rays) tooth that should have been removed but Dr. Sandhu decided to make the decision himself and leave it (rather than calling me - I'd have had him pull it)....over a long weekend....with no antibiotics and no pain killers. Long story short, my wife was in AGONY for 4 days until we could get back in for the extraction. Here's where things get weird... I was angry - yes I was. I gave him an opportunity to explain himself but all he had was lame excuses why it was anyone's but his fault. I told him that was BS and he needed to quit with the excuses and accept responsibility for his mistake. That's when he became extremely loud, combative and threatening (I was seated the entire time and he was standing). I told him, "You don't want to do this!" to which he replied "No, YOU don't want to do this!". At that point he squared off to me as if we were going to fight physically. Yeah.....you can't make this stuff up. At some point during that mess, I fired him (for any further work for me - not my wife - she's since fired him as well). So now I have 25K worth of dental surgery and implants with no warranty (I'm losing the last 3 years of a 5 year warranty). Enough of that - I left so my wife could get the dental work done she so desperately needed. Dr Sandhu could have avoided this entire mess with two little words - "I'm sorry." Then again based on his history I doubt those words are in his vocabulary (only my opinion of course - I couldn't possibly know for sure). As of March 14 he has essentially been neutered by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. https://www.rcdso.org/find-a-dentist/search-results/dentist?id=61915 "To restrict my practice such that I will not initiate any fixed or removable prosthodontic treatment, including but not limited to implant treatment, for any patient, including diagnosis, case selection, implant placement, restoration, work-up, follow-up care and maintenance. For greater certainty, this restriction does not prohibit me from performing restorative treatments such as single-unit crowns, inlays, or onlays, except on teeth with existing prosthodontic treatments. Arrange for the transfer of care for any patients undergoing active, finished or maintenance prosthodontic treatment, including implant treatment, to another qualified dentist." So, a dental surgeon that can't perform anything remotely related to surgery or implants?!!? I wish I'd done my homework as this is the exact same thing he was reprimanded for in 2019. No doubt my implants are going to fail leaving me with a mess. Oh, and then there's the impaired from 2019. A Dr. that thinks it's ok to take other people's lives in his hands by driving drunk? (technically he refused to provide a breath sample - same charge - lost his license for a year). In short - just stay away. I'd guess this entire practice is circling the drain at this point. I'd imagine one more complaint to the college about Dr. Sandhu and he'll likely lose his license to practice dentistry and dental surgery. That would be rough but well deserved I'd say... (although I will feel bad for his staff as most of them are wonderful).
