A nice option to eating heavy German/Austrian cuisine when in Ruette. We came here at the recommendation of our Bauernhof hostess and were quite pleased that we did. After 5 nights in Germany and Austria, it was nice to eat something that didn't end in -"etzle". The restaurant is very nice with amazing views of the surrounding mountains. The menu was very large with several vegetarian options, many Pizza options, and the usual traditional options as well.
There was a great wine list with many Austrian wines, something we don't get much of in the USA. I liked the restaurant for the same reason I loved Reutte. It is very local, and very real. They are catering to themselves and not the tourists. Our waitress didn't even speak English, we were probably the first Americans they had in there in weeks. Thanks Rick Steve for not putting them in your book. It was very busy for a Tuesday. I really liked my pizza and the asparagus risotto that my wife ordered. The cream of asparagus soup was a great way to start or meal. Not too expensive: Two soups, two entrees, two beers and two glasses of wine, about €45 with tip.
