I brought in four cotton panels of fabric today and I asked if they would wash them and iron them for me. The gal said we don't do drapes and I said to her these are not drapes. This is just cotton fabric if you wanna call them curtains OK but there's certainly not drapes. She refused to take them saying they do not do drapes and I was blown away because like I said they were just cotton panels nothing fancy not a big deal but she would not take them. I used to go to them all the time, but since they've changed ownership, it's really gone downhill. They're not open on Saturdays, which is crazy. They aren't there when they're supposed to be there crazy,they don't take cash anymore. Crazy. I do not recommend them and unfortunately, they're pretty much the only cleaners around. Their service is very good and the prices are fair, even comparable to mainland dry cleaning prices, which was a surprise since everything on Maui is generally about 20 to 30 percent more. The lady who altered my daughter's prom dress was very brisk and businesslike but you could see she takes a special delight in helping with dresses. Her face lit up with a small smile when she saw that my daughter had a dress in her hand. She was also very honest with me. You see, we had been here before with a different dress, and she commented that although she could do the alterations (the dress was ordered online and was two sizes too big for my daughter) due to the beadwork, the result would be very expensive and not worth it. She said, in summary, we'd be better off ordering another dress than having her alter the current beaded dress. We took her advice and ordered a second dress (with a better idea of sizing!), which she expertly fitted to my daughter. I would definitely return again. read more

Needed one shirt dry cleaned one just washed-cost was same for noth services. Took them in on a Friday could pick them up on Tuesday. Had to pay upfront- $15.00(+ tax). Horrible rude lack of customer service!! Walked in and asked if they were doing alterations today...... lady rolled her eyes and stared at me. i rarely need a dry cleaning service on Maui but my husband needed some work shirts for traveling for business. I had six items and it was $65. completely ridiculous to charge $10 per item. A pair of women's shorts was also $10. absolutely ridiculous. not a friendly place either. It's a mess when you go inside and nobody is ever working when I go in. If their service is poor they do nothing to try and accommodate the client. If there was any where else to go I would be doing so. Prices high and commitment to service very low. I brought these clothes back because they were excessively wrinkled after a wash n fold. They said I would have to pay dry cleaning bill to dewrinkle them. I simple rewash and not stack them so tight would've solved the problem; or a refund. If I had access to machines or time to do this I wouldn't have brought them to "Alii" in the 1st place. Also, the woman in the store was very nice and personable. I'm not sure why others said they were rude? Maybe those people went somewhere else. I had them hem some new curtains I purchased. They were black our curtains so their was a liner. Upon return one was longer than the other side. They said the did it correctly and it was the way the manufacturer put the curtain together. But they showed me the scraps and it was all uneven. In order to fix the curtain to be equal, I had to pay them more money. Absolutely ridiculous and the two curtains going on a slider door window look a little odd. The quality and attention to detail was poor. I will never use them again for any service. read more

DO NOT EVEN THINK OF USING THIS DRY CLEANER YOU. I MOVED TO KIHEI, AND I ALMOST DIDN'T LEAVE MY CLOTHES THERE AS THEY HAVE AN ATTITUDE PROBLEM. (1)I asked them to sew a button and they said they had an $8 minimum for that. (2) They didn't get spots out which were easy spots--coffee, etc. which always came out. (3)The lady screamed at me and said that "Her husband cleans them at his plant someplace, and he is the best there is. (4)Of about 8 items, all but one came back unsatisfactory. (5)I took it to another dry cleaner and looked at the spots and was told that spots would come out, but now that they were pressed in, they were now ruined. These are expensive clothes, (6) She further nickeled and dimed me by saying that this shirt is 85 cents more because of the fabric and other things. It was ridiculous, (7)When I went to pick them up, it was a few minutes after closing time. The doors were wide open, the lights on,the workers were there. I asked for my clothes and the lady yelled that they were closed. I explained to her that I needed part of it in a hurry, and she yelled at me and said I would have to come back the next day. This post is more than just emotion which I admit I have. I am a prominent professional man in the community. I moved here because I work only because I wish to. I have mainland clients in my office frequently who are moving here and I am giving them copies of this review so they will have one less pleasant experience while here. I am further giving a copy of this email to the dry cleaning store so they will be aware of it. I don't believe that they are capable of doing a better job, but maybe they will as a result be somewhat less disrespectful, if that is possible, as this is Hawaii, the land of much aloha. If you don't patronize them, you will be contributing to the substainabiity of the aloha spirit of the island. HORRIBLE SERVICE. Took a woman's coat in to be dry cleaned. it came back with white lint and the same smudges around the neckline that could be removed by them -but the whole coat was NEVER CLEANED. I showed the girl at the counter and she said they cleaned it (trying to lie to me). When I showed her that it wasn't and she couldn't argue with me-i told her she needs to refund me or have it cleaned so they chose to re clean it for me. 2ND TIME: I opened the plastic right there in the shop. I brought an area rug in to get dry cleaned. The lady took my name and number and said it would be finished in a week! So I come to pick up the rug 2 weeks later. Last minute run in to drop off laundry for same day service. The lady working there (sorry I didn't get her name) already had several loads for the day and said it wouldn't be ready for EOB same day. When my husband and I talked about what we would do instead since we had a morning flight she offered to go ahead and fit it in for us. Thank goodness! Worst and most expensive alteration I've ever experienced. Took a pair of curtain panels to simply be shortened and hemmed. She couldn't even hem a straight line: at least two inches difference in length from left to right! Oh, and it took nearly three weeks. Wish I was on island long enough to insist that it re-done. Terrible service. Called to see the turn-around time to have something pressed and was told next day as long as it's dropped off before closing, then when I tried to drop it off they had closed early. Caught the guy in the parking lot and he said they don't do next day anyway. Another customer pulled up to pick up his order while we were talking, STILL before the posted closing time, and all the guy would say was, "Sorry, we didn't close THAT early. Come back tomorrow." This isn't the first time I've had problems with their customer service or cleaning service. Will be looking for a new cleaner. read more

Amazing cleaners! I recently got married in Maui and after 8 hours, a layover and a flight change my wedding dress looked awful. My wedding coordinator recommended Alii to me. They did a fantastic job in a very short amount of time and the price was very reasonable. They did a better job pressing my dress than the dress shop and the tailor. I also took my daughters bridesmaid dresses in and they again did a fantastic job. I took a big risk taking my dress here and it paid off. Owners were very nice, price was reasonable, my clothes came out great (removed one of my stubborn stain). They told me they have another location in Lahaina. The lady on the phone said they could clean bedding for me, but when i dropped it off at the store the lady working there said it might rip during the process but i had told her to proceed, that I would take the risk. Well 1 week later when they said it would be done (on my receipt), i came in to pick up my bedding. Mind you no one called me to let me know, so i was assuming it would be done. Well when i got in there, my bedding was sitting in a bag on the side. The lady working informed me that they wouldn't take my bedding because of the risk of it ripping. BUT dont you think they would have called me to let me know!!!! Instead of having it for a week and making me think it was done. Helen was so helpful when I had to drop off my wedding dress and my fiances linen suit to be pressed a few days before our wedding. Both of our garments were shoved into suitcases and needed some TLC. Helen was very nice and made me feel special when she sneaked a peek at my dress and smiled. I was even able to have my dress cleaned after my wedding and shipped back to me (which was wonderful, since I didn't want to travel on my honeymoon with it).
