Ali'i Coffee is such a cute little spot in downtown Honolulu. There's paid parking nearby, and they also offer online ordering, which is great if you're in a hurry. The café itself is on the smaller side, but the menu has a great selection of drinks and food options. I ordered the Royal Ube Matcha Latte over ice, and it was delicious. It's actually one of my favorite places on Oʻahu to get an ube latte--the flavors are balanced well, and you can still taste both the matcha and the ube. What really stood out to me was the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly and personable. At one point, I genuinely thought a customer was a friend of one of the employees because their conversation felt so natural and welcoming, but they had actually just met. That's the kind of atmosphere they create. The whole shop has a warm, bubbly energy and feels very much like a neighborhood coffee spot where people know each other and enjoy being there. There's also paid public parking jn Kukui Plaza. Clean shop. My drink and food were made fast. Got The Queen- I liked the toasted coconut topping. The espresso wasn't overpowering. Get an extra shot if you like that coffee taste. Wasn't too sweet. I just wish the drink was hotter. It was warm. The breakfast burrito was good. I would definitely try it. It was pricey- $15. Cute little spot close to the Hawaii theater. Fun menu with fun drinks. The inside is super cute, but seating is scarce. We had a good time and found a spot for our party of four to sit and eat. Our food was good, not knock your socks off good, but more than ok. The coffee was the same. With such fun flavors I was expecting to taste said flavors a tiny bit more. But I'm sure if you come a few times you would learn how to order. Only downside was the staff. They acted like we were an inconvenience. When we came in, there was one other person inside, sitting in the corner with their order. We all live here, and we're coming down to watch a movie at the theater and wanted a bite beforehand. This could be a place we frequent. They didn't try to help. Just pointed to the menu. I found Ali'i Coffee while searching for some matcha while in Downtown. It's a very small coffee shop right across from a public parking lot and I got the pistachio matcha, just to try something different from what I normally get with my matcha. The woman behind the counter was nice in answering my questions and also requests to not make it too sweet and not with too much milk. I think I asked for a milk substitute, oat milk, and the drink was fine, but nothing I would return to get. The place is cute with a handful of tables. I like my matcha strong, and this was just too watered down for my taste. Stopped by while in Honolulu and tried the The Original Taro Ube Latte, made with coconut milk instead of regular milk. It was REALLY good. There was a fee of $1 for the milk substitute. I also ordered the breakfast burrito (Egg, cheddar, bacon, pico de gallo, black beans, cilantro, hot sauce, sour cream, wrapped in a spinach tortilla). Breakfast burritos are my favorite thing, so I'm always delighted to find a good one. This burrito was like a warm hug on a rainy day. It was nice after a week filled with damp weather. Every time we visit we come back here. I'm in my matcha phase so I'm so happy they had different matcha options! I've ordered the pistachio matcha and the mango matcha and both were amazing. You really can't go wrong with either. If you're looking for a nice, light, fruity taste then go with the mango matcha. Service is always friendly and fairly quick. My only complaint is that drinks tend to get pricey here, so be sure to bring cash to avoid the extra charge! read more

This location in particular isn't my favorite because parking sucks (it's downtown so that's assumed) and the shop itself is a little hot, I'm not sure if there's any AC but it's definitely more on the fresh air side. So crafty... One thing that I absolutely love about Ali'i Coffee is taking the usual brew that we love an making it their own special drink. Purple Haze is one of my favorite though yes I do love the color this is Jasmine Green Tea with Lemon and Honey the perfect refresher that looks beautiful as well. This Downtown location is a bit tricky to get to unless you're in the area it's metered street parking only but is well worth the trip. Versus their Kaka'ako location this one is a bit cozier with just four tables what keeps me coming back whenever possible is having outlets so that I'm able to keep charged up and how do you think i got this review done lol! We walked in after our kids played at the playground nearby.. they have cute seating inside & outdoor seating as well. The baristas were great! They were made sure to give my son his ice cream before making our drinks to keep him from waiting. We got a matchaloha, a taro ube latte, and a cookies and cream ice cream for our son. The matchaloha was really good. It was (obviously) matcha with a hint of pineapple. The taro ube was probably my favorite of the two drinks! If we're ever in Hawaii again, I'd get that! I stumbled upon Ali'i Coffee while walking from Chinatown going to a Safeway. The sign caught my attention and I walked in to check it out. Small place with a few tables and counter space with stools. They offer lite breakfast items along with specialty coffee drinks. Kiera was friendly and welcoming. I appreciate that she took time to answer my menu questions and willingness to add egg to the avocado toast. I ordered the avocado toast and a 16 ounce americano. The avocado toast was tasty, so much so that I decided to eat it all at the counter space (originally was going to take it back to my hotel. The americano wasnt as tasty as I normally get. Different types of coffee beans have different flavor but a shake of cinnamon in it gave it the right flavor. Pricewise, expensive, but food is expensive in Hawaii. I recommend stopping in if you find yourself in the area. read more

My turkey avo sandwich was yummy and filling, just the right portion size for lunch. Friendly service and dog-friendly which is a must for me! I love this little downtown coffee shop serving all the goodies including Ube coffee & Matcha! I like that they also do breakfast burritos/food in the morning so when my coworker and I stayed nearby, it was easy for us to pick up breakfast all in one go and tbh it was really good. I finally had the chance to stop by Alii Coffee on my way back to the office during my lunch hour. I've always heard great things about this place, and it did not disappoint! It's a small spot with a few tables, but it's nothing short of authentic. Despite being busy during lunch time, my wait wasn't long at all. I've been trying out different coffee shops in downtown trying to find my favorite one. I stumbled on Ali'i coffee on Yelp. The pictures look really good so this was definitely on my list to try. The store front is located on the corner of bethel and Beretania. The baristas offered help choosing but I decided to stick with a cold brew and tried the "princess" I really liked there brew flavor. After trying the Waikiki location, I had to come back to Ali'i Coffee. Since I was in the area, I decided to stop by this location (which is it's own shop, rather than a shop in a hotel). The inside is cute with some seating, but probably not the most ideal spot for working/studying as there isn't much space. My boyfriend and I decided to try the almond roca coff-tail and their (famous) taro ube latte. Both were so delicious, and I can see why their taro ube latte is so popular. Both items were true to their name and had very strong notes of their respective ingredients (as opposed to some lattes where you can barely taste it). Loved it, the service and quality was consistent to their Waikiki one, and I would love to come again. read more

International Coffee Day 2022 in Honolulu, Hawaii... Looking for coffee to celebrate this occasion, I felt like I had to visit the original location of Ali'i Coffee (since I had recently been to the second location at Ward Village in Kaka'ako). The main obstacle for me was the lack of parking in Downtown Honolulu. There is metered street parking and even a paid parking lot on the corner of Beretania Street and Nu'uanu Avenue. However, I remembered that the Loading Zone spaces are free on Saturdays and Sundays! I could have gone on a Sunday and parked for free in a metered stall... Uhg! Anyway - International Coffee Day landed on a Saturday this year, so, I parked in a loading zone on Nu'uanu Avenue - about a block away. I entered the cozy, dimly lit shop and noticed that every seat was taken by customers! Wow! Such a popular place! There was a constant stream of walk-ins after me, too! Whoa! It must be because of the service and the products, right? (Although the mural on the wall was really beautiful!) Service was very friendly and efficient. The pleasant guy at the cash register asked if I had a Loyalty Card... Not yet! I told him that I was just at the Ward Center location and I had ordered four items! I can even show him photos of what I purchased! He said that he would just give me a card and stamp the four items on the card today. Yay!!! Thank you!!! I got the House Salad because they had run out of the Beet Salad. I'm glad that I took it home because I was able to toss everything together in a large bowl. The avocado, feta cheese, pickled onions, artichoke hearts, cucumber, tomatoes, fresh greens, and balsamic vinaigrette dressing went well together! I also got the roast beef sandwich. It came with crispy potato chips! The horseradish mayo really made the sandwich! The chewiness of the chibatta bread was fun! The happy surprise was the Pumpkin Pie Latte. I'm so happy that they had Oat Milk! It was a delicious, refreshing, seasonal drink! Maybe I'll return for it and the Beet Salad tomorrow! read more
