The facility itself is pretty nice. Half of the buildings are new as of 2012, and the rest were renovated in summer 2012, plus a revamped main office with an all new gym with tanning booths, and a swimming pool. All the apartments have new appliances (fridge, stove/oven, microwave, washer and dryer) as of 2012 as well. And there is always plenty of parking. But the service is awful. About every other month there is some sort of error with billing rent. They lose a check, they don't charge roommates equally on utilities, they applied "last month's rent" check to November when the last month is July. They don't return phone calls, and messages left at the front desk for the manager are also, often not returned. They've thrown a pool party and blasted the music. This was an office sanctioned event, but I live on the opposite side of the complex and the music was so loud it was rattling my windows. To begin prepping for new tenants moving in, they power washed all the landings. Unfortunately there is a good quarter inch gap between my front door and the floor, so all that dirt/grime and water was pressure sprayed into my apartment. I had a three foot by five foot puddle. No advanced warning was given, therefore I didn't move my door mat which was blasted to pieces, and when I went and told the guy he was spraying water under the door he just said yeah, it happens. I'm pretty sure it doesn't if you don't aim the hose at the bottom of the door. I live here because it is a no smoking complex and I'm allergic to cigarette smoke. My downstairs neighbors smoked in the bathroom, and the smoke came up through the vents. I called the desk to report them and they said there was nothing they could do, at which point I don't think they can advertise that they are non smoking. The washer went out, it took 3 days for their on site maintenance guy to come look at it, and then another 2 weeks before he came back and fixed it. I've been here for 2 years, management changed half way through and I thought things would improve. I was wrong, and I'm not coming back, nor do I recommend it to anyone. read more

Even before move in, the Alight staff has been extremely difficult to work with. I contacted them soon after signing my lease to find out whether it was possible to move in early as the listed move in date is extremely close to the start of class despite being a student only complex, and they said I would be added to a wait-list and would find out later in the summer. Beginning about a month before move in, I sent several emails further asking about this, and was told they didn't know yet still. Less than 2 weeks from normal move in, I was informed my unit would be ready early, and only at this point was told about an early move in fee of $150 + $20 per day early, despite paying the same rent for August as every other month. I submitted a formal complaint because of the series of passive aggressive responses and bad communication, and the response was another passive aggressive message, this time blaming their company. Because of these experiences, I do not recommend Alight Stillwater. read more

I reached out to the response to my review and never heard anything from them, not surprised. I also disputed a $15 charge for something that was already there when my son moved in but I did not have picture proof and they would not budge even though I sent them all the pics from his move in day and their response was they would have fixed the issues if we would have told them. We arrive to move our kids in and the place is filthy so we went to work and cleaned it and fixed stuff so we would not have to wait on them to clean. It was obvious they did no final walk through when the previous tenants moved out or maybe they did and charged them the cleaning fee and just never cleaned the apartment. I did end up paying the $15 just to put all this to rest but just know that the management at Alight is horrible. read more

First and foremost, I want to encourage every single parent to start recording as soon as you arrive at Alight. I'll explain why: In 2021 we arrived and our apartment was filthy. Mold in the cloths washer with clothes still in it, mold in the fridge with food still in it, mold in the dishwasher with dishes still in it. The previous tenant had a dog that defecated in the room numerous times. The dog has also chewed and scratched the furniture, and no exit inspection was ever done. We had to comb and shampoo her carpet. In the bathroom were two Fleshlight masturbators left and a dildo left suction cupped to the shower wall. Myself and two other parents went to the manager who called us liars to our faces, until she walked into the unit. She then lied to us again, saying she would make it right. No cleaning was ever done. Myself and another parent spent hundreds of dollars on equipment to properly clean and sanitize their new apartment. Instead of making things right, the manager sent over a basket of cookies to my daughter and her inhabitants. Fine, whatever, we knew this was going to be an issue so we've saved all the photos and videos. So, as soon as my daughter goes to leave Alight they hit her with a bunch of BS fees that were never her problem. The manager intentionally obfuscated the move in inspection, lied to us, lied to her bosses, and now her bosses are trying to hold my daughter to account for Alights ineptitude. Before you move your children into this place, look ANYWHERE else. These people will screw you and your child over in every way possible. Shame I cant post the images here. The absolute worst management and apartments ever. They never answer maintenance requests, they changed my mail key three times and I couldn't get access to my mail for a month. The washer broke like five times and when our AC went out in 100° heat we got no answer until I called a third time and they treat us like we are dumb. I have never felt so disrespected; I constantly call, email, and leave voice messages and not a single person responds. The unit reeked of Weed and was completely disgusting. After demanding a new cleaning she wiped it down with spray and called it good. The toilet was not even flushed when I moved in. The Leasing manager Kendra is oblivious to the issue and not helpful at all. They acted like it was our fault that the unit was not ready and did not even apologize for it at all. We also were not provided a mailbox key or our address. They do not care about their residents. Kendra and Hailey are horrible to deal with and automatically defensive. They don't do their job. The phone doesn't even work and when it does you have to talk to an AI person. Whatever you do, DO NOT rent from this dump. Update They did send a template response. However, this time they acknowledged that it's a template response and yet still didn't include any new information in the response. We have sent dozens of phone calls and emails. They take up to a week to respond and give improper and unprofessional responses. We have met them in person. They are incredibly rude and unprofessional face-to-face, too. We have gotten a number of false charges for things that were already recorded as damages when we moved in. They threaten to send the charges to collections and then wait you out to force you to pay. read more

Do not sign a lease with this apartment complex. Pro: the townhome rooms are big close to campus and other stores Cons: charge excessive amount of fees, unorganized, maintenance is rude, questions constantly go unanswered. My personal experience: 1) my townhome flooded caused mold on carpet and walls, we explained it to them multiple times the kept putting machines to dry the carpet instead of transferring into another unit these problems started end of April and we couldn't move until mid June. 2) The new unit the a/c barely worked which was miserable in the summer months. 3) They filed an eviction notice because I owed $60 on December 15th and I paid my balance but they still charged me a attorney fee on January 11th a entire month after I paid the balance. 4) Then 2 weeks later the management charged me $600 for a pet violation even though I paid the pet fee and provided all my documents to them 2x. Then sent a email threading if I don't pay then they will call animal control to remove my dog. 5) I paid my bill and was $.23 short when I tried to repay they charged me $70 in fees. This is my personal experience here, I do not recommend this apartment. read more

This apartment complex is run by unscrupulous predators. They will charge you for something no matter how well you take care of your apartment. Do not expect to have anything fixed. Our dishwasher barely worked and would break down every couple of month. We would put in a maintenance request, and maintenance would quickly come out, throw some bleach in and tell us it was fine. We needed a new dishwasher, not a cap full of bleach! This place is run by a company that requires the apartment management to fill quotas; don't take it personally, because you're just a margin-thickening number. I gotta be real with you, Chief. EDIT: I did receive phone calls from the complex after i posted this review but couldn't answer them because I was busy. I attempted to call back equally as much as they tried to contact me but I couldn't get in contact with them and left messages for them to call me back. After they unsuccessfully tried for maybe 3 days, they made zero attempt to alleviate the problems I was having. I happily ended my lease July 2022 and will never recommend Alight to anyone planning on moving to Stillwater. The first apartment I was assigned was NOT move-in ready. The bed had mildew all over it, there was a leftover, GROSS pillow from the previous resident, the carpet smelled like dog piss and I couldn't walk in my room barefoot or drop a clothing item without it absorbing the dog piss scent, there was crystalized dog piss on the bathroom door, the door handle to my bedroom was loose, I had no blinds, the walls were dirty, two bathroom lightbulbs were out, my unit had roaches, the closet track to open and close it was almost black from the dirt and grime, and there were dead bugs in the overhead light dome and the unit smelled like cigarette smoke when I first walked in. It was very obvious they did not check the apartment before giving it the green light for move-in and they had known the two residents prior were nightmares. My roommate's room had a broken nightstand that was used as an ashtray, an obvious burn on the counter in the bathroom, and what they called mildew on the wall, but could have very likely been mold. The complex attempted to scapegoat the resident that was living there prior to/during my move-in. I had to contact the manager multiple times about the issues before they finally agreed to move me into a different unit. The only reason why I don't give Avenue East 1 star is because they have moved me and the girl who moved in on the same day as me into a new 2x2 apartment that was actually clean. It was 100x better. I also commend their maintenance crew on move-in day for bringing me a completely new mattress in good time. Now, my grievance is that they lost one of my packages and they still haven't fixed the thermostat in our apartment and I called the front office about it at least 2 weeks ago. I also have a random charge on my account for the Liability Insurance when I have submitted my insurance twice and both times they were approved and was told the $5.23 and $11 would be refunded once "corporate went through and approved it," but I haven't seen a refund, and was charged $11 again the next month, so that's $27.23 total. I also about lost it when the office kept calling my phone trying to get me to renew my lease after only officially settling down and living there for 2, maybe 3 weeks. They'd call, leave an ominous message, and when I'd call back, I was met with a sales pitch. Like, hello?!! This has to be one of the worst complexes I've ever heard of. Overpriced rent for the small, low grade apartments they provide you with, maintenance almost always leaves you worse off than you were before, warped roofs and floors from water damage, stairwells fall apart right in front of you coming home form work, you name it. The icing on the cake has to be the horrible polices and support for their renters. All tenants were accidentally charged an extra time for insurance, they then closed for the weekend, did not fix the issue until the 4th, and then charged whoever did not pay with the faulty charges on their account a late fee and refused to take it off. This would be understandable if they were open on the weekends when you had to pay your balance to question them about it, but they are not. I have never seen a complex care less about their tenants and more about money in my life. And to top it all off they are constantly raising rates for new tenants to move in when the living conditions are doing nothing but getting worse in all of their units. Absolute shit wifi quality, and they say they're changing companies but I have not noticed any change within the 6 months I've been here so far. READ THE CONTRACT BEFORE YOU SIGN IT. Clarify what/when you are paying for before you pay it, as I've spent money for apparently nothing. Moved in in May, was told I'd have to pay a $54 annual service fee to the electric company they use, which isn't that big of a deal. What is a big deal, is that I paid that, then as of October I get a $4.50 monthly service fee AS WELL. To my understanding I had paid the annual fee so that I wouldn't need to pay fees again until next year. But apparently that "annual" fee is only through their leasing terms which start in August. So I paid $54 for technically only three months, and am still paying monthly fees too, because all they had to say to me was that I should have read the contract more carefully. ALSO my bathroom had mold/literal mushrooms growing out of the wall and when I had them come look at it they called it "water damage" and not mold. To "fix" it they scraped some off and plastered over it and called it good. It's growing back again.. Another thing, that they've told me I can't have fixed, is the A/C from floors above me drains into my shower. There's just an open-ended piece of PVC pipe poking out of my ceiling directly above my shower head. They assured me it wasn't something to worry about but I can't help feeling weird about that. Don't live here. The people who work there are nice enough but the management is horrendous. They will hit you with fees everywhere they can. We paid for a fully furnished apartment, and when we got there all of our rooms were missing chairs, and we only had 3 of the 4 promised kitchen chairs. All three were broken and didn't last, they all broke. We kept getting told there was a"furniture order that was supposed to come in any time." This was a fictitious LIE. No furniture order EVER came in. We had to go find chairs ourselves to furnish our "furnished" apartment. You can't move in until halfway through August because they are "cleaning and painting" but when we moved in there was nothing clean. There were still whiskers in the sink from the last resident. It smelled. There was dirt and dust everywhere, and toenail clippings in my roommates room. The painters painted over dust and dirt so it is stuck in the baseboards. There were paint splatters all over the floor that we had to scrape up. They painted over light switches! If you ever want something fixed it won't be. I complained about wasp nests all over our building, even after being stung, and no one has come to fix the problem. No one cares to. That pool that you pay for? It was being worked on in May and June and completely empty of water, because they decided to wait to fix it until every other apartment complex opened their pools and it wasn't ready until much later. They don't keep it open that long either. They close it in September, you don't even get a full month to enjoy it after moving in and can't use the hot tub in the winter because it is in the pool area. There is so much more that's wrong and annoying. Just stay away from it. You could rent a house for less than this. Do that. Stay away from student housing apartments in general. read more

TLDR; alight is predatory, unsafe, poorly taken care of, and has terrible management When I moved in on my scheduled move in date the headboard wasn't installed and room was dirty so it was very much not ready for move in. But I was the one who ended up paying for these things when I moved out. They had me in the wrong unit in their system. Because of this, they thought my room was the vacant one when they were trying to redo one of the rooms. The maintenance people walked into my room TWICE each time WITHOUT A NOTICE because you were so disorganized you had me under the wrong unit and would not correct it (one of the times which I was sleeping and FULLY UNDRESSED), when I told management about this they basically shrugged it off and told me it shouldn't happen again even though it did! When I told them it was because they had me in the wrong unit in their system they said that it wasn't worth fixing. So my safety was not worth them correcting their own error in their system. They charged me $117 dollars for utilities and $90 for utilities because they had misinformation in their system about who was in the unit (not charging two of my roommates at all making me pay all of it) even though they offered to speak to them to correct it. I was told to speak to the Utility company Conservice by Walker and the utility company said it was an error on their end, and when I told them this they just said I was wrong and ignored my continued emails about this thereafter. The room above our living room has holes in the floor under the carpet. My roommate filed multiple maintenance requests to have it fixed and they did come by but they did not fix it yet filed it as fixed in their system. We had to be worried the floor was gonna cave in because they didn't fix it. When we finally started out move out process Walter came in and claimed there were damages everywhere. I took videos proving these damages did not exist but they changed their claim on what the damages were. I had to pay $350 in charges when I moved out even though they hadn't done a full check of that place for at least four years because it was never completely vacant so all the issues with the place fell back in us. If you want to see how well they take care of the place ask them to come check the gas in your townhouse (and if they have them in the other rooms) so they will open the door that's covered in dust and lent. You can even see it sticking out through the door crack it's disgusting. read more

I am a graduate student from TX and I have lived in student apartments all throughout undergrad. Avenue East has been by far the worst experience. I was placed in a unit that was not cleaned prior to move in. The previous tenants had animals so there is dog/cat urine and feces on the carpet and couch, which has a stench. Also, the blinds are all chewed up. This is inexcusable and as soon as my lease is up, I am moving out. read more

Worst experience every! I have mold in my ceiling and our bathrooms! The floor is caving in and the ceiling is leaking. Our dryer doesn't work and hardly any water comes out of my shower. To top things off our apartment flooded and they showed up with a roll of paper towels and said put a work order in and slammed the door. Very disappointed. read more

Decided to give them another chance after a horrible 2018-2019 year and they definitely put the icing on the cake this year. There is a complete lack of communication between every person who works in the office and on the property, and a complete lack of basic customer service skills. They have events at local restaurants for free stuff if you give them a 5 star review on Google. I had the pleasure of overhearing a conversation amongst staff earlier this year about how to get a girl to move out with a bunch of excuses other than being honest. By appearance it looks to be a good deal! Don't be mislead.. From day one the people there were untruthful, with specific promises of conditions that never came to pass. Upon arrival for check in, we were given an apartment on the 3rd floor rather the 1st floor which was what we were promised on the day the lease was signed (7 months prior). The apartment was absolutely filthy, with horrifically worn furnishings. On multiple occasions the internet was down for several days at a time. The display apartment does not adequately represent the apartment that you will receive. For the money there are other apartments available. Skip this place and keep looking. read more

Hope they do better than the Grove. I like the new improvements, but they give very short notice of everything. I am a veterinary student and was very upset to find a notice on my door that they were changing the locks on dead week. Normally on dead week I don't come back home until after the office is closed, so they're lucky I came home early that day, or else I would have been locked out of my apartment the night before my lab final and would have raised hell. Staff is friendly and helpful, but I usually have to wait around 15 minutes just for someone to show up at the front desk to take my rent money. Don't live here if you need a quiet space to study. Someone is always playing basketball or sand volleyball with obnoxiously loud music, or partying in the apartment above you. Would not recommend if you are not in a frat or sorority. read more

She told them she would be home during the summer and they told her she could leave her things in her room and all would be fine when she came back in August. When we arrived in August, the apartment was filthy. There was mold in the standing water in the dishwasher, the refrigerator was dirty with mold, the front windows were broken, blinds in her room and the front room were broken. We spoke with the manager on duty and were told that things would be repaired. We waited all day. Her roommate moved in and found bugs in her bed. We came back the next day and still no resolution. We rented another apartment as they did not hold up their part of the lease. However, they sued and we had to hire an attorney and pay attorney fees. When I first signed with this as the Grove I had a terrible experience. absolutely horrible. But I renewed because there was nowhere else to go and they were making upgrades with the new management. So far I am extremely happy with the upgrades and they are being done in a timely manner. Tenants are being informed more often and properly which is also a great change.
