Anyone who has driven the 15 from Las Vegas to Los Angeles has undoubtedly stopped here to take a break during the 4 hour nightmare road trip. Over the years I've watched as Alien Fresh Jerky went from being a literal roadside stand to a trailer to a UFO-topped building to a pretty fancy tourist attraction in its own right. It seems like the owners are always working on new construction here to make the place even bigger and better. The cramped store has a lot of overpriced nuts, beef jerky, candies and hot sauces with funny names like "Ass O'Fire." This isn't a bargain destination, it's a tourist rip-off, but you'll have fun while they empty your wallet. Get ready to pay $7 for a small package of nuts (free paper bags for the shells if you get pistachios or peanuts), but they are high quality and tasty across the board, making a healthy and delicious road trip snack. They sell lots of alien-themed souvenirs too. Make sure you ask the guy behind the register to show you the baby alien. The bathroom situation here is pure misery, with not enough stalls for the large groups of tour buses that are now stopping here. You're much better off going to pee at the adjacent Jack in the Box and walking over to buy some jerky or nuts. Even if you are making good time on the highway, you just HAVE to make the time to stop. If the giant green aliens out front don't entice you, then you don't know why life is worth living! read more

Omg the road show attraction I least expected was on FRANKS drive to Las Vegas! This place was awesome for the geek at heart or X-FILES conspiracy nut. Cruising from LA to Las Vegas on New Years Day after witnessing the final Motley Crue show I stoped in Baker, CA to eat at THE MAD GREEK. What I didn't expect was a Close Encounter of the Alien kind, after all I just saw Mick Marr's hours before. But on the way out of town I spotted the green glow of Alien Fresh Jerky store. I knew stopping here was gonna happen from the moment I spotted my first Alien. We pulled up in the parking lot and right away theres extraterrestrials everywhere including sitting in a back to the future like car. I entered and was blown away and somewhat overwhelmed by the amount of Alien swag available. If it's alien they have it including alien in glass container. Didn't think I could get that through TSA for the plane ride home. After gazing at the awesome selection of Alien Jerky, I grab a few bags, a few shirts and a couple selfies with an Alien sitting inside the place. He didn't say much but was more than happy to sit with me for a photo moment. People if you didn't experience it you wouldn't understand it. So follow the smell of Gyros to Baker and then look for green glow down the road for the Alien hangout. read more

Definitely a good place to stop at when heading back home from Vegas. It's been about two years since I last visited and I really love the new digital billboard they had placed near this stop. It was my boyfriend's first time, so we took pictures by the two alien cars/ships before entering the building. The exterior of the building is being worked on, but the inside looks the same as the last time I came to visit. They are known for their beef jerky, but over a variety of other products to be purchased at the store, such as pickled garlic, honey, hot sauces, cold drinks of all kinds, and knick knacks. They even have invisible jerky, which is an empty jerky packaged by the way, for the low low cost of $1.50. Definitely a bargain hehe Of course they sell alien related products, such as books and keychains that you can add on to your purchases as well. They do provide samples of some of their beef jerky, but got to be fast to try all of them since they go out quickly and I didn't have time to wait for more to be supplied. I wish I bought more jerky. I came here on my way back to LA from Vegas and didn't know what to expect. The selections are pretty overwhelming. My boyfriend and I bought three jerky packs. One of them was the honey teriyaki. That one was a bit too sweet for me. I really like the Roadkill one. The flavor was a more subtle one that brought out the meat's flavor. Fun pit stop before making the drive home. It's about an hour and 45 minutes from the Las Vegas strip. They have a wide variety of drinks, jerky flavors, candies, crystal rocks, and random souvenirs. Staff were friendly. Plenty of parking outside. The store had a fun inviting vibe to it. They had bathrooms inside, not the cleanest but they work for the long drive. The jerky itself was decent. Definitely had better. I felt like a lot of them were on the sweet side. Pitted prunes we're delicious. Japanese Pusheen character drink was tasty. I recommend stopping by if you've never gone, just to check out the store being decked out in alien decorations and the aliens sitting in the parked space car outside. read more

Cool experience, but over priced. When we went it looked like they were building an amusement park in the back. It also looked like they owned most of the abandoned businesses neighboring. Maybe it won't be so bad once they expand, but as of now, it's not worth the price. You could find the products they sell online for much cheaper as they're VERY cheaply made. We bought an alien holding a crystal and there's hot glue all over where they just threw it in the packaging and glued it. This place is out of this world! :D Puns aside, Alien Fresh Jerky is a novelty convenience store that sells a variety of goods from canned mints, toys, and the standard tourist trinkets and gifts. What they are known for is their fresh homemade jerky and the whacky photo ops available inside and outside the store. If you are looking for something sweet and spicy, I highly recommend the Peppered Beef Jerky! The quality is superb and is about the standard price of regular jerky ($8.99 a bag). I've passed this place probably 100 times. I finally stopped and I'm so glad I did. This place is so cool. I had my four-year-old with me and he had a blast. I love the giant spaceship building, and the cute ice cream spaceship in the back. They are also building an alien hotel which will be awesome I'm sure. Aside from the cool alien theme, the jerky is actually awesome. I'm pretty sure they had alien technology influencing the recipe. They also have some pretty cool souvenirs that were surprisingly things I would actually buy and I'm not usually a souvenir person. I ended up picking up a few tins of candy simply because they were in cool metal boxes like the one shaped as a cassette tape. (they my husband's a musician, I had to do it.) There's plenty of parking and of course it's free. The parking turnover is pretty quick as well so there's no waiting really even when it's super busy. The staff were really nice. One bag of jerky is eight dollars I believe or three for 28? I think I can't recall that correctly. read more

Came back to my favorite jerky spot while passing through Baker on the way to Delta Utah yesterday. Before I got to Alien Jerky I saw on a bunch of freeway billboards that advertised Alien Jerky had a new flavor of Jerky called Texas Style. When I got there It turned out that It was not a flavor but a style of jerky. Since there were multiple flavors of Texas style I had to get one of each plus my other favorite flavors. The total cost was $100.00 for it all. This felt like a bit of an over charge for how little jerky they give you in each bag, but its allays worth it because I've never tasted better jerky than this. read more

My daughter bought some of these meats on her way home from Vegas and it was a hit in our household! Now coming home from a Grand Canyon tour I'm buying my own haul and decided to pass by. The store was fairly small but is adequately stocked. Fun Roadside Photo Op Worth a Look Aliens, snacks and bathrooms are available at this fun themed gift shop. The building itself is shaped like an alien tank with the driving aliens visible in the windshield above the door. Several other alien-driven vehicles and crafts are available to photograph outside the shop. Inside, the fun alien theme continues with various alien decor like an alien fortune teller near the restrooms. Of course, numerous alien gifts are displayed along with the main draw-locally made fresh beef jerky. There seemed to be three "shelves" of jerky- tri tip for 8.99, NY steak $10 and Filet Minon $12. Multi bag discounts of $2 of 3 bags were available. We opted for the entry Tri-Tip in Honey Teriyaki and the Filet in Abducted Cow Pineapple Teriyaki. The latter had a better flavor along with a slightly meatier and greasier texture and mouth feel but was only slightly better than the value option. Overall I would recommend stopping here for some pics along your trek between Southern California and Las Vegas, especially if you need a restroom, are thirsty or are craving jerky. read more

Like everyone else, we stopped by on our way to Vegas. Located right off the freeway in the beautiful (/sarcasm) of Baker, Alien Fresh Jerky is a must stop for those of you that really like jerky. Outside the store there is a car with some aliens in it which is a great photo opportunity if you have kids with you! Inside, the store is not too big, but it is chalk full of goodies that range from hot sauce to, well of course jerky. It really does seem like they make jerky out of everything: fish, filet mignon and even have invisible jerky! Invisible jerky is literally an empty bag that sells for like $2. The filet mignon jerky is about $12 each bag and all the others are mostly $8.95 (no tax). The flavors of the jerky include teriyaki, pepper, spicy and who knows what else. The meat itself is very tender and flavorful. We def will try to spot by whenever we are on our way to Sin City. read more

Very unique fun place to visit. Tons of ones of a kind items that you won't find anywhere else. Also the prices are not as bad as you would think for a roadside attraction. The only part of this I didn't care for was the staff. They are not friendly and seem to hate their jobs. I came here with my wife and 2 year old daughter. My daughter was excited when she saw a alien dog stuffed animal and was trying to show the staff member how excited she was. All we got was a sour face and no conversation except the price and how we want to pay. Decided to make a quick stop here from Las Vegas to Solvang, CA, which is next to the world's tallest thermometer. Lots and lots of beef jerky and hot sauce with silly names. Did I mention there's 'invisible' jerky here? We bought the honey chipotle jerky, which was good but a bit on the spicy side. What I also found was a Sonic the Hedgehog energy drink, with a sweet blue raspberry-like taste. Since I can't drink energy drinks anymore due to health concerns, I tried it anyway. Outside we saw a Galaxy Peace Patrol vehicle, an alien ship that makes noises and blows smoke when you insert $1.00, metal display of little green aliens and there are parking spaces for Aliens Only in the parking lot. When we walked in, there were so many interesting things, funny hot sauce bottles, beverages with a video game, TV show, cartoon themes, beverages with unique labels, a large selection of Beef Jerky Flavors (samples are available), nut products, candies, BBQ sauce, and dried fruits etc. ::Experience:: I bought the BBQ On the Moon Jerky, Peppered Jerky, Freeze-Dried Strawberries Space Food, Rockstar Energy Drink (Taurine), a small package of mini hot sauces with a variety of flavors, Transformer case filled with candies and a bunny mint box. The BBQ on the Moon Beef Jerky was chewy, sweet, dry, and spicy. I didn't taste the BBQ flavor. The Peppered Jerky was sticky, wet, chewy and peppery. Baker is about halfway between the two metroplis and a good place to full up, rest up, grab some snack on your route. In this store, you'll find variations of flavored jerky. From pork, to chicken, to beef. For those on a diet, Invisible Jerky is the best. Absolutely zero calories and you can eat this stuff all day. You'll also find ass buring hot sauce, lollipops with scoprions, pickled garlic, themed collectible sodas and energy drinks. Great snacks for travelling. It's worth a visit if you never been here. The jerky was very dry especially the extreme hot one. I used to stop by here pre covid times on the way to Vegas but there are many other jerky places to choose from like Jedidah's jerky. I came to visit this store on my way out of town a couple times a year. Today I was in the store and my son accidentally dropped a bottled drink on the ground and it broke. I was informed that I still had to pay for it even though there are no signs posted saying this. If this is a rule, and I have never been in a store that has this rule, it should be posted. This is a great place to visit once on your way from Vegas to LA, or vice versa, but not really worth a repeat. It's more for novelty than anything. The alien theme is cool, and this place has some fun props, but I didn't think the jerkies were all that great. Maybe I didn't pick the right flavors but the Whiskey Beef and Honey Chipotle were just ok. Whiskey Beef didn't taste any different from regular beef jerky, and I definitely didn't taste any hint of whiskey. Honey Chipotle tasted better but the texture was a bit grainy. Reguar beef jerkies are $9 each or three for $25. It also sells filet mignon jerkies for $12 each or three for $24. It has a fairly large selection of flavors to choose from and has few flavors you can sample. Unfortunately the sample container was completely empty when I was here. In addition to beef jerky, it also sells some unique sodas, lots of hot sauces, nuts, dried fruits, and alien related products. The jerkies are all made with beef (or aliens); there aren't any wild game jerkies like buffalo, elk, alligator, ostrich, etc. It's fairly easy to spot when you're traveling on 15 freeway. There are numerous signs and billboards directing you to this place. Other than the Big Thermometer, Baker really doesn't have anything else, so this place gets all the tourists. read more

Surprisingly, I've never stopped here whenever I drove to Vegas and I have this place bookmarked for quite some time now! Then again, I haven't been to Vegas in over 4 years LOL. I asked a friend of mine to get me some jerky from here since he frequently passes by this meat shop, but he couldn't or always forgot. He said that every time he sees the Alien statue, he thinks of me now! On his last trip passing by Baker, he was able to get me a couple bags of jerky. He remembered that I wanted to try the Southwest hot beef jerky, but also got me The Colon Cleaner beef jerky too. After having some pretty spicy wings that night, I was a little scared to try both flavors since they both looked extremely hot. I decided to taste a piece of the Southwest one first and it had a nice smoky flavor to it and a just little bit of heat. The more I ate, the spicier it got though. It reminded me of beef teriyaki because you can taste the soy sauce and was a bit sweet. Now I was ready for the Colon cleaner. They use habanero peppers for this jerky, so my mouth was on fire, but the burning sensation is bearable. The meats were good quality and very addicting! I just know that I am not going to buy a 5-hour energy here because it was nearly $8 for one bottle. I was shaking. Literally. So why dont I come here anymore? I can get their jerkys without travelling all the way to Baker. I can get them at Korean markets. Ive seen most of the flavors I liked. What I like about this place is their huge selection of drinks! There were many different kinds with different themes which I haven't seen before. They even had a Super Mario drink as well as a Mega Man drink. :) The jerky.. well there were tons of free samples that they laid out for people to try. . . but there was just too many people here. There is a car with aliens and missiles, rocket ship, and a huge alien to greet you in the parking lot to let you know you're here. Parking is very spacious and has 2 entrances, one near the shell gas station. Inside they have a variety of jerky probably close to 60+ different flavors. The price is comparable to other jerkys from your local grocery store - $8 a bag or $12 for the filet mignon jerky! They also have deals if you buy more. This place's ambience and decor deserves 5 stars! They really go all out. It's a great place to stop on your way between LA and Las Vegas. And there are plenty of Instagram-able moments! They have lots of dried fruit snacks, flavored pistachios (jalapeño, habanero, garlic and onion, etc), salty snacks (wasabi peas, cashews, rice crackers), and of course, jerky! They have cuts made from trip trip, NY steak, and filet mignon. Filet mignon cuts are more expensive at $12 each, but you get $2 off each pack if you buy 3 packs. But they are well worth it. Total roadside tourist trap. Stopped here while on a road trip to Nevada on 10/25/2021. Cool looking building that definitely gets your attention. Kitschy souvenirs while cute, aren't really needed. I like to have something that's actually useful and will serve a purpose. Ended up just getting a fridge magnet. As for the jerky itself, a little too tough for me. There were only a couple of flavors I bought that interested me. I can't stand the spicy stuff and preferred the sweet ones, like the honey and pineapple teriyaki. I steer clear of anything with chipotle, chili and jalapeno peppers in it. Absolutely avoided the hot sauces. For the prices they charge, $11 each or two for $20, the portions in the bags should be more ample. Plenty of fun things to look at, but it was an easy one and done for me.
