Today I re-learned that, "döner kebab" is a Turkish dish with meat cooked vertically on a fire rotisserie, and then meat shavings are sliced off as it cooks. I also re- learned that it's delicious! I believe this place recently opened up as I had never noticed it there. As you enter you see a menu above with options for plates, sandwiches, and wraps. But on the kiosk they have a lot more variety of items so do not be fooled by the small menu of options. I scrolled thru and the had some great options with meat over fries, and other dishes. But I decided to get their Beef Lunar Cycle which were wraps cut up and served with Lebne and Rice. The sauce that came over the wraps was amazing! And the rice with vermicelli noodles just had such a nice texture and flavor that I wanted more. The meat though was a little dry hard for me. If the meat was a little more tender and juicy it would have been amazing but maybe it was just this day. They have a little seating area inside for dine in, one thing I would say is for the staff to maybe greet or interact with the guests. Since there's the kiosk the interaction is very minimal but it would add warmth by greeting and thanking guests as a part of customer service. read more

Iskender plate, the pide was soaked in tomato sauce on top of beef doner with tomato sauce again. It was no way to be called Iskender plate. Doner plate, the beef was very dry. The yoghurt sauce on the counter was sour and gone bad. Also the price was very expensive. Maybe the server didn't know how these plates were served. Service was bad. I asked them if they make chicken and beef doner half and half. They didn't have "mix doner" on the menu, but when I asked, they made it without hesitation. That level of flexibility and hospitality is rare, especially during a soft opening. Huge respect. I shared some feedback about their bread, I think their old bread was better. They genuinely listened. They mentioned they will be opening their second location in Costa Mesa early next year, and the new spot will be larger with plans to bake their own bread in-house. Really liked the simple menu on big digital blackboard - owner needs to match what is on the menu with what is on the kiosk ordering system in verbiage so it exactly matches so it's not confusing. Meat is way too salty - not sure if it was a particular day thing or just the recipe but need to cut down on the salt by a lot. Several other customers expressed the same sentiment. Ordered beef plate and iskender and came out very well otherwise. Good mix of veggies. The bread could be upgraded to be a bit more authentic which I think would make this place a huge hit. Just need to tweak a few things and I really think this place could be a massive hit. Lake Forest is really missing a place like this. If there was a self serve tea station - this place would kill it. Overall very good experience..my main recommendation would just be to cut down on the salt added to the beef doner. The drink station one container next to the yogurt container drink is empty - maybe brew some warm tea in there and let customers serve themselves if they order a soft drink so you can make good use of the space.
