Seeing as there is a different address here, I'm thinking the bakery just moved to the new building that was built. I came here for the first time a couple days ago, and feel this is one of, if not the best Mexican bakery in town! If you aren't familiar with "Panaderia's" let me help educate you quickly. It's VERY different than what we know as bakeries. Mexican sweets are very bread based and a lot less sweet than their US counterparts. This however in no way means they are any less good. For example, a simple Mexican donut with some chocolate frosting on top allows you to enjoy the experience of the delicious donut bread, rather than that flavor being covered up by glaze and overly sugary dough. I'd consider the donuts here to be some of the best in town We ended up getting a good amount of treats and I was kinda shocked when the cashier told me it was only $11. Went to go order a cake I showed them an inspiration and was not even close to what I had asked for. The cake was spilling everywhere and the strawberries were frozen. I was definitely disappointed. Two words... pan dulce! So sweet, so soft, so delicious. I've heard from many friends to check out this Panaderia (bakery) and decided to come check it out. For a Monday at 10 AM it was busy and half of the breads were already gone. I loved all my choices. The concha's were flaky and soft. Are you still on the fence? Well, after a couple more visits I can say without a doubt this is my favorite panaderia in SLC. I dunno if that helps, but you should read through my first review if you're unsure how to shop here (tl;dr is fill a tray and take it up front) and then just go. Know that the jalapeño and cream cheese filled ones are the best ones, and even the addition of ham is good but I like it sans ham. I pride myself a decent baker and I can't figure out how they make them that good, except to say that cream cheese makes anything good. Prices are still cheap and even though I wasn't there at the crack of dawn last time, I still think the selection was really good. I haven't tried any of their wet goods like flan or tres leches but I'll get there. I used to have the most amazing Saturday mornings of exploration or staying in and eating amazing things. I can't believe I never got any of their stuff for those Saturday mornings when it was just a big adventure or a recharge, when I was exactly where I needed to be. I want more than anything to get back to those Saturday mornings, probably to just make that an every morning thing, and to incorporate Alicia's into the rotation of places to enjoy and savor. Mexican Bread here is okay, nothing fancy. The conchas are my least favorite here and they can taste old regardless of what time of day you come in. I do like their loaf bread made with nuts and raisins and they're muffins called mantecadas. A lot of their bread is very dry but sometimes you do get good bread. this place is really a hit and miss, regardless you should give it a try. read more

I really like the bread at this bakery. Unfortunately, the service is not great. The women who work there look overwhelmed and always short handed. Sometimes I avoid going unless I am am prepared to wait a while. I have seen this bakery grow a lot over the years. Best pan dulce in all of Utah! I live in Provo and I have to pick up some bread every time I'm in West Valley bcz I have not yet to this date found bread that comes close to Alicia's bread. The bread is good, there is no way in deny that. But the ladies there feel entitled to make very rude comments. I called to order a cake and the first thing I hear is "OKAY BUT YOU NEED TO PAY NOW!" Okay I understand, that's why I'm calling, then when I said " can I pick it up tomorrow morning at 9?" I hear the person on the phone ask another employee and I hear "UUUGGGHHH! No way!" I ask very nice and polite "okay what's the earliest I can pick it up" and this lady tells me in the rudest possible way "1 in the afternoon! You need to plan in advance and call before not now that you need it tomorrow".... umm okay that comment was not at all professional! For the Day of the Dead (Dia de Los Muertos), we honor our ancestors. In Mexico, we eat Pan De Muerto which is a dome crowned with a skull and crossbones. Panaderia Alicias has the traditional Pan de Muerto in small and large sizes. I came here last year and ordered several pieces for my son's daycare. I was making a presentation on the history of Dia de Los Muertos and our cultural practices. We add the pan de muerto to our altares (alters) along with candles, papel picado, fruit, nuts, flor de cempasuchil (marigold), pictures, chocolate/candy, and any items that loved one you are remembering loved. For example, we always add a shot of tequila in honor of my grandfather.
