The hosts were wonderful and we had a yummy, hearty breakfast. The sausage bread pudding was off the charts!! Definitely recommend this place for a quiet getaway.

I'm not doing backflips of joy over my experience, but it really was quite lovely. Here's the review I wrote for Trip Advisor: We stayed over a Saturday night, on March 31st. We had originally wanted to stay in the lodge building, but it wasn't open yet for the season. It's just as well, we had a delightful time in the main house. We were the only guests, since it was a misty, chilly weekend (we were up to visit friends). The owners are helpful and friendly. We stayed in the Cranberry Room ... I feel like the web site photos do not do the room justice. The furniture is very nice, without the lace and frills of too many B&Bs. The queen bed was comfortable enough ... we didn't sleep well, but I don't blame the bed, I think we just sleep best in our own bed! The house itself retains a lot of its original 19th century details, like original hardware, so if you like "old houses", you'll like this one. Breakfast in the morning was right on time, and delicious. Special mention goes to the views - this area is gorgeous, even on a rainy March/April weekend. I would definitely come back. The only negative I can think of is that the road leading to the house is not paved, which may present a problem, especially at the bottom of the hill. (It's also badly marked, but so are many roads in the region). The drive for the house is not paved, either, but I felt like that went with the country atmosphere, so I'm not sure it's a detriment. For the price, and the area, a great value, and a wonderful stay.

It is an 1890's style mansion built by Mr. Wickwire, an iron magnate. There are a handful of rooms and a couple of suites all very quant and accommodating. Apparently his family also built a few of the neighboring mansions. As a Cortland Alum I try to book a room every five years or so for my 5 year Reunions. The college holds many events here for alums and I would suggest calling ahead to check busy weekends. My wife and I have stayed in almost every room here - our favorite is the Rist suite. It is large and has a spacious sitting room for entertaining and relaxing. It overlooks the back gardens which are lovely. A modest breakfast is provided with the room and coffee is always available. The staff are delightful and accommodating. It is a nice B&B. We always bring a few bottles of wine for personal consumption. There is no liquor license. There are many outside spaces to relax in and the front porch is a great spot. It is perfect as a home base when visiting town. We will be back. Mark & Nancy.

Seriously the best kept lodging and event secret in New York State~…read moreRun, don't walk to this amazing B & B and event space in Central NY. Full disclosure; I am an alum of SUNY Cortland and have a serious affection for this spot but I challenge any objective human to have a different experience. Stunning period antiques, magnificent decor and impeccable attention to detail and service are just some of the features to love about a stay here. Conveniently located to downtown Cortland and a quick drive to the Finger Lakes Region, Ithaca and even Syracuse. A quick walk to the SUNY Cortland campus of course. Each room is magnificent and the staff leaves no need or want unattended. The rooms are quite reasonable and you can event rent the entire house for a family, reunion or group! We rent out the entire house every year for a group on an annual Finger Lakes motorcycle trip. There is no place like this. The staff is practically invisible and yet every need is met. No meddling owners bothering you; they are there if you need them but leave you alone to enjoy every room in this historic mansion. There is ample off-street parking, verandas to relax on, stunning gardens and great breakfast. Events are incredible and they do it all; graduation, christening, showers, weddings and business meetings. Truly the best of the best.

Homemade soups, awesome chili, fancy Chicago Dog on worlds best bun, incredible and HUGE chicken salad sandwich all served in quaint (but not too "foofy") dining room in old classic home. New Berlin looks like its fallen/falling on some hard times, hopefully this quality place survives! We will plan our next trip up to make it to a Friday Fish Fry, I'm sure it will be wonderful. One tip, hard to tell its a cafe when driving through town, so keep your eyes peeled!

I was greeted by a very pleasant young host, and she quickly found a waitress to take my order. I figured I would have some time while waiting, so I started to explore other areas of the building, besides the front hallway. There is a nice little cafe/dining area consisting of (I believe) two rooms, and there were also people dining outside on the front porch, where the tables have umbrellas. This old building has charm, and I think they have guest rooms upstairs. Just as I began poking around a room that I realized was an antique shop, the waitress came and found me, and my dinner was ready. Definitely a nice experience at this place. I took the food home, and I was satisfied. The very large piece of haddock was nicely breaded and tasty. The baked potato was also very good - I think it was baked with sea salt, resulting in a very flavorful skin. The cole slaw had pineapple in it. I thought this was weird, but when I finished it, I definitely wanted more. I think this meal cost $12 and change, and I felt that it was a good value. This is a solid spot for Friday fish fry, especially considering the surrounding area. I'll be back, not only because of the food, but the service and character.
