Think of a rescue service for dogs. Except this one is for pot-bellied pigs…read more Chris P's Rescue and Rehabilitation provides a home (or finds new homes) for pet pigs that otherwise probably wouldn't make it. Several of the animals have come from homes where they've had unfortunate encounters with other pets or that didn't realize mini pigs can reach 100+ pounds. The facility holds events like trick or treating, open house and story time for kids. They also are active in events in the surrounding communities, such as town festivals and parades. If you get a chance to visit, go! The people that run the rehab are friendly and it is a unique, fun, experience! Chris P's does a lot of great work for this less common four-legged friend.

Frank Ferguson's Testimonial…read more Frank is an 8.5yr young albino, deaf Great Dane. We rescued Frank when he was 4 months old from a breeder who no longer wanted him because his hearing and possible vision impairment. Frank has always been a playful pup and when we started realizing his older brother Leroy was showing his age and not being as playful, we decided to adopt Frank a brother/companion he could play and bond with. That's when Tom, a piebald great dane came into our lives. The plan worked out great, they became instant brothers and played all day/every day. After a couple of years Tom grew a great deal and playtime started becoming rougher and unfortunately Frank injured his rear right leg. We took Frank into The Animal Care Center of Castle Pines to meet with his doc, DR. Johnathan Quint for radiographs and he referred us to an orthopedic specialist in Colorado Springs for further diagnostic evaluation. The doc in Colorado Springs took some more radiographs of Frank's leg and assumed Frank may have injured/torn his ACL and suggested us doing a TPLO on Frank. Frank at the time, was favoring his leg but he would still apply pressure/weight bearing to the leg. He only favored it on strenuous occasions. It was not a complete tear, to where he was not be weight bearing at all, it did not get to that point. So, we decided to opt out of the TPLO at that time and try some more alternative routes. Then, we decided to go to The Animal Care Center for his rehabilitation and it was the best decision we could have made. The staff at the clinic took so much time and care into Frank's injury and were such a great deal of support for my husband and I through this journey. Throughout a two year span of PT, laser, treadmill, swimming & massage, Frank showed a lot of improvement and just loved all the attention, affection and peanut butter Kristen and Kelli would give him. Frank would get so excited to come to every appointment! Frank came in for a follow up appointment with Dr. McVicker and the conversation of Stem Cell Therapy came up because of the flyers they offered in the exam room. Dr. McVicker thought it would be a great idea to explore all our options and informed us of an orthopedic doctor (Dr.Gaynor w/Peak Performance Veterinary Group) that specializes in stem cell therapy. So, she set up an apt with us to come by for a consultation with Dr. Gaynor. We met with Dr.Gaynor, Dr. Bartling and his assistant Holly in July 2018. They all were so fabulous. They spent an abundance of time with Frank and us, examining and going over all our options. We all decided as a team that stem cell therapy could improve Frank's quality of life and pain management, so we figured we would give it a shot. Two weeks later, we had his stem cell therapy treatment done. The staff at Animal Center, Dr. Quint, Dr. Gaynor and VetStem Biopharma were extremely helpful during this process and made it unbelievably stress free. It was actually a piece of cake! It took less than 3 months for Frank to start showing signs of improvement, major improvement! Actually, Frank was acting like a puppy again. His energy level went up, he became more involved and interested in daily activities. He started playing with his brothers again, he rebuilt his confidence with stairs and jumping into the car and on the couch. Most of all, we have not seen him limp once since his stem cell treatment 4 months ago. He truly is back to his old self again, but 3 years younger!!! We have been bragging/educating as many people as possible about the treatment Frank has gone through and explain how life changing it was for our pup Frank and ourselves. Truly was a great decision! We can't thank the Staff at Animal Care Center or Peak Performance, VetStem Biopharma enough for improving the quality of all our lives, especially Frank. Love all of you tons!!!! XO Sincerely, Frank, Andrea & Mark Ferguson

My senior cat was suffering from advanced arthritis and was in a lot of pain. I was referred to…read moreDr. Gaynor by my regular vet for advanced stem cell therapy. It was not a fun process to go through, having to put my senior cat under general anesthesia (always risky) for the fat sample extraction, but in the end, it was totally worth it. The stem cells are injected, and then it takes approximately 90 days for the full effect of the treatment. I waited until 4 months to do this review. The treatment was successful for my cat and it has made a big improvement in the quality of his life, as he has much less pain and more mobility, and is generally more like his old self! Dr. Gaynor has another veterinary partner that he works with to perform some of the procedures. There was a bit of communication breakdown in regard to my cat's previous veterinary records and his negative reaction to certain medications. But overall, I was very happy with the experience of working with Dr. Gaynor. He was available by phone for our numerous questions beforehand (we don't live in the area), and in person provided additional information on what to expect during the process. He followed up to check on my cat's status at various stages. I am so thankful that he was available as an option for us.

Dr. Dressen has now seen each of my four critters for various ailments (ranging from acute issues…read moresuch as ocular discharge and back injury to more chronic problems such as adrenal stress and autoimmune reactions and senior cat kidney issues). I have been very satisfied with the level of care and the supplement and dietary recommendations we have received. Dr. Dressen also just started doing laser therapy, which has been used in all sorts of applications from wound recovery to musculoskeletal inflammation. Here is a recent NIH publication that talks about the benefits of low-level laser therapy: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC522143/ In reference to the one negative review, Dr. Dressen's approach is *different* from that of a conventional veterinarian, but different doesn't equate to not being 'real help'. Her approach looks at an animal's overall well-being and helping the body to heal rather than treating one ailment at a time with antibiotics, steroids, and the like, which carry their own risks of side effects from mild gastric upset to antibiotic resistance and diabetes. This will take more time because it involves more of a 'lifestyle' change than a quick fix drug-based solution. If this more holistic approach does not fall in line with your personal medical philosophies (because the Western medical model is just one of many healing philosophies around the world, not *the* medical model), then you probably will be better satisfied with a more conventional veterinarian. Many of the people I know who use Dr. Dressen (including myself) also have conventional vets that they work with. Some things are more easily diagnosed and treated at my conventional vet and others are much better suited to Dr. Dressen's approach. There is value in both types of practices. Can't say enough good things!

She is old school and likes to get to know her patients and parents, and your struggle and journey becomes hers. I could never do what she does, it requires a heart and soul much bigger than I have ever seen. If you need and want care for your pet I highly recommend this office. They will take care of you, but also remember they are not a commercial 15min appt vet, so to fit new patients in sometimes takes time, but if she can fit you in she will and once you're n you're family. I can't sing enough praises for them in this office, will forever be great full for their care so far.
