I just came in for a car wash and mid wash it stops dead with soap all over my truck. I was on Facebook just killing the minutes until that happened. Then I'm trying to call the store and the phone number is disconnected. Finally the lady comes out and says pull forward. The she starts blaming be for moving my car. And I told her I did not move and that my car was in park the entire time. She continued to yell at me arguing with me. Very rude so I just left and will never go back. read more

First time here just wanted a car wash and I was in the area and my wife recommend it and said it was decent. So I gave it a shot. Went inside and immediately I smelled cigarette smoke and that alone should have told me to get out of there. Old lady came from the back and I asked for a car wash and she pointed up at the prices. She said "blast is the best" so I got blast which is the top wash. Finally got in for the wash and it seemed to put a nice amount of soap and looked like it rinsed off well but I always like to dry after myself with a towel. So I pulled to the side after the wash and went to wipe car down and noticed a lot of pink soap still on the car and it was everywhere in small dots. It was a pain to wipe all off too. I was irritated and had to complain about it. Went inside and started to complain about the wash and she finished my sentence and said the soap on the car right? And I said wow so you guys know about it and are still letting people use it?? Had nothing to say but just gave me another free wash ticket. I said I'm not gonna use that why so it can mess my car up again?! I want my money back she said I can't do that you're gonna have to come in the morning and talk to my boss. What a horrible place! So nice of them to know the car wash is messing peoples cars up and still having people use it. Don't use the car wash there!! I'll never go back there again for car wash or anything. Hope the place closes down soon and that crappy lady really shouldn't work there especially with all the terrible things people say about her. read more

Review is from my service experience just today. (I think I met the same old white lady as the customer a year ago). Came in to buy car wash, she was pretty aggressive about it shouting the directions and "don't make this harder than it is" which was strange but I brushed it off. Unfortunately I couldn't exit the wash due to my car stalling out. As I was dealing with it trying to remedy, I spoke to the 4-5 cars behind me to apologize and let them know what was going on. Everyone was gracious in their patience. 20 min later as I'm continuing to work on the issue, the same cashier (older white lady) comes out and screams at me "fucking car! What the fuck are you doing? How long are you just gonna sit there?" At this point the other drivers behind me had left as they didn't know my ETA for getting unstalled. I explained to her my need for service and that I'm waiting on hold and that I didn't have an ETA." At this point she went on a rant about how I didn't even bother to tell her of my situation. She yelled at me to tell her when I am able to drive off." Fortunately, I was able to get restarted and going about 15 min later. However, I did not stop in to tell her this as her demeanor was so hostile and mean. Instead, I chose not to be subject to that abuse and drove off. Will NEVER use this establishment again. I encourage the management to seek reassignment for this person to a non customer-facing role. Very poor treatment of customer impacted by car issues outside of their own control and trying their best to remedy it. read more

I don't know if everyone else is talking about the same lady that works here but when I went inside and ask about the price for a car wash the 100 year old white lady that works there started yelling at me to look up and that she can't do everything at one. What are you talking about? Things really started to heat up when I asked for change for a dollar for the vacuum machine outside. She started screaming at me asking what is wrong with me? I started looking around to see if I was on candid camera or some hidden camera show. I have never been treated so rude in my life. But the dummy was me for not leaving right away and still doing the car wash. While the other reviewer may have had a problem with the car wash here, I have never and Im sure my last car wash story would beat his out of the water. This is my usual go to car wash. With or with out getting gas. They also have a really large garbage can at the entrance of the car wash that I sometimes dump more than just a few scraps stray papers from my car in. Try a bag of garbage. You got to know how to make your situation work right? Its a regular car wash that does a good job. I have no complaints. Also, this gas station doesn't have the Lottery so don't think you can walk in there and buy a $6 wash and a Mega Millions. Because you cant. You will get eyes rolled at you and a big "No, No Lotto." Between Ivy R., me, and some others, Martinez will eventually become totally Yelped. And on Alhambra or Pacheco Avenue, we're living the dream. Unless it's a Kum and Go in Iowa, it's often "premature" to give more than 3 Stars to a service station. As for Alhambra Shell, it's easy in and easy out, and with lots of room to park and fill up. Everyone that works here are friendly. The owner clearly takes pride in running his establishment. I go here for gas, coffee and car washes. I like the fact that your car wash code is good for months. There have been times where I purchase one but then I realize I don't have time and so I just keep the code and use it later. My kids love going for the milkshakes (they have one of those machines and they taste great) and they are always greeted by whomever happens to be working that day. Usually in my case it is Jan and she has turned my day around plenty of times. Thanks Jan! Oh yeah, and the craft beer selection is on point. I honestly would buy beer here before going to Safeway or BevMo. Naveed (the owner) (sorry for the spelling) also takes pride in that. He will gladly give you an IPA recommendation and his prices are fair. Thanks guys! Oh and for the people that give poor reviews for the gas prices and how it should be cheaper because shell refinery is in Martinez. I agree! However it's not their fault. Take it up with Shell. And yes the car wash does have a line but what are they supposed to do? It is one car wash! You want him to build three more wash garages? EXCELLENT CRAFT BEER SELECTION here! I normally don't review gas stations, but I had to write after a great experience at this Shell station in Martinez. I was stopping for gas, and noticed a Craft Beer sign out front. Normally, gas stations who advertise craft beer means Blue Moon! The station owner is a Craft Beer connesiour, and takes pride in his station's selection. I stepped inside, and was amazed by how many great brews they had - at really fair prices! While N.CA craft favorites like Anderson, Drake's, and Bear Republic were represented - some great San Diego beers from Stone and Mike Hess were there too. The owner approached me, we chatted about beer for a few and he recommended Mike Hess Brewing's "Solis" IPA. I bought a few at only $2.49 a can, and it is now my favorite IPA! Not only is the owner nice, but the station is spotless inside and out. read more

I drove by this carwash about 20 times (along with the other two on the same side of the street) and decided to stop by to get more info, and I'm VERY glad I did! One of the attendants, Naveed (I think that's his spelling) was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. It's rare that I'd say i left a gas-station lobby in a better mood than when I entered, but in this case, I totally did! I got the "Blast" car wash that comes with all the options. It was a great experience, and my daughters actually had a great time watching the multi-colored soap sprayed on the van. Oh, and the foam-wax-curtain that was light-up was kinda like being in a bubble rave! The only "con" was that I came right after work on a busy Friday, so there were a few cars in front of us, so there was a bit of a wait. Our van is clean and our daughters are happy. We're going back in our other car later today!!! Oh, BTW, you can pay for the carwash right at the wash, but it only takes cash. To pay with a card, go inside and say hi to Naveed! read more

Stopped by after a much needed wash from my trip to truckee. Pine pollen galore on my car. I was 3rd in line. Waited 33 minutes til my turn. Machine only takes cash, and on this day it was only taking $10 bills with no change given. I called the number on the machine and a gentleman came right out and was super helpful! read more

Here is the skinny. The pumps always have a paper receipt, something that I need for work. The price of gas is the highest in Martinez, generally by at least $0.25. If you get the discount and buy the car wash, their is always a line at the wash. What did I learn today? Martinez has a Shell refinery. Shouldn't we get a break on the price of gas since it is only trucked less than 3 miles? What gives? read more

I'll admit I am a big complainer about the higher sticker price per gallon at "mainstream" gas stations, like Shell for example. However this station is situated near two quickie-mart style stations, that offer lower prices than normal stations, but still manages to stay competitive. I give them high marks for good service, fair prices and good mini-mart options (i.e. food, lottery items, carwash, drinks etc. etc.) The station has been modernized, lots and lots of pumping stations, it's kept clean & neat, and has a carwash & vacuum. The staff is really nice, and make the visits a definite A+ experience. I see another yelper gave customer service a negative vote, but what she may not be aware of is the high volume of less-than-reputable peeps in the vicinity at times. Not to scare anyone about Martinez, but it's a fact that often, when CCC Hosp. releases their 51/50 peeps they wander down their way to leave town. Logically, the staff has to be sure who they are dealing with & do an EXCELLENT job of keeping it a safe & solid place to do business. Because of them, I have no trepidation about going there day or night. So, patronize this Shell with confidence! ;-) read more

I dont normally write reviews on gas stations but I really thought I should share some info about this place. Lately I've been doing alot of driving and realized how different stations could be. There is a new owner to this station and he seems to be concerned for the consumer and the environment. The price of gasoline at this station has dropped significantly since the new ownership and they discount it another 15cents a gallon when you purchase a carwash too. So this has been perfect for me since I drive to L.A. once a week for work and my van gets pretty dirty and covered with dead bugs! But what has made it stand out is the new owner who actually WORKS the station. He has even given out "handouts" of new products they are testing or selling. Today (this is what prompted me to do this review) he asked if I'd like a free water bottle for the road. It was a new product his station was carrying. What made it significant was the fact that he pointed out he started carrying this water bottle because it was completely organic and biodegradeable. Including the label. Hmm... not your typical gas station owner to care about the environment too! read more

This service station is totally non-customer friendly and a total rip-off. I purchased a $7.00 carwash from them and attempted to get my car washed several days later. They told me the code had already been used and would not give me my car wash. I never used the code and was in sole possession of my receipt. They apparently gave me a used code and refused to give me my car wash. They were extremely rude. Please BOYCOTT this station. read more

No soap in window washer, broken window washer. Sure having gas and the ability to pump it is important too, but if I can not clean my window so I can see out of it what good is having the gas? All in all I do not recommend this place, skip if possible, if not pump and go. read more

I went to use the bathroom while my husband pump gas. He was taking a while to pump and I had to use the bathroom, when I asked the gas attendant for the key, but she was so busy chatting with her boyfriend standing in the corner. She first had to make sure that I was pumping gas, and I assured her that were about to pump gas, she then asked me for my receipt! Stupid Indian I've ever come across with!! She needs to get fired! What a way to treat a customer and she could see that I'm pregnant! I told my husband to not pump the gas. They just lost a customer. Poor customer service. I would not suggest to get your gas at this station. This lace don't even deserve a star, that's how bad it is. read more
