This is genuinely the best place to end your night if you're a FoCo savant. I can't wait to go back. Admittedly, I've smoked "minor league" hookah in college in the past, and always found my own bowl and hose difficult to maintenance. However, Algiers is perfecting the fine art of hookah daily, and, in my opinion their late night hours have a lot to do with it. I'm a "you bring me what I don't know I'll like" kinda orderer, so our hookah tender brought us: vanilla, blueberry, cinnamon. While no one could guess the cinnamon for the first 3 go-rounds, I later heard my friends complaining of the cinnamon. I judge my friends more harshly than our hookah tender, as I should have cooler friends. I loved the flavor and it burned for well over an hour. I highly recommend Algiers for anyone looking for a true Fort Collins experience. read more

This is not only my favorite hookah bar in Fort Collins....it is my favorite hookah bar in Colorado! It might even be my favorite of all time, or at least top 2. The tobacco is high quality and the staff know how to mix the flavors. The coals are just right and I never feel like the tobacco is being burnt, even after the second or third coal. The place looks rough so don't expect to be visually wowed but the cheap price, high quality tobacco and excellent service are more than enough to catapult this place to the top of my hookah list. Smoking hookah is a very rare thing for me-I do it maybe twice a year. But when I do smoke, it's almost always at Algiers when I'm up in FoCo for a weekend with the wife. Somewhat tucked away in a cool part of town that also features the classic Mayor of Old Town, Algiers is a super chill place with a really friendly staff, where you'll often catch CSU students having some hookah and tea as they do their homework. The price to smoke is super reasonable, and their flavors are really varied. There are some excellent combinations that are both on the menu and staff recommended, so you really can't go wrong with anything from fruity to spicy. They also offer pots of sweet tea or water with your hookah, which is nice. We always sit in their patio area, which is covered and heated so we can sit out even during the winter. They usually have super chill music on, which makes the whole vibe that much better. If you like to smoke hookah and are looking for a chill, fun, affordable place to do it, look no further! read more

The atmosphere, although very hazy, is relaxed and cozy. It's definitely a good place to hang out and catch up with friends. The staff was helpful for the most part and everyone seemed pretty nice. My main issue however is how they charge customers. For me and my girlfriend to split a bowl together it cost $20- $10 per smoker. This took us by surprise cause it doesn't really make sense to charge different amounts based on how many people smoke a bowl. It's the same amount of product. That seems to me like going to a bar and ordering a pitcher of beer to split with a friend and being charged twice as much. We were told this was to cut down on freeloaders but how is it considered freeloading to share? As long as someone pays for the bowl it should be the same. Neither of us felt like smoking a full bowl to ourselves so we figured we could split one to cut down on both cost and how much we smoke. It would work better to charge $10 at the door and let each customer know they can get their own bowl with the price of admission. We probably wouldn't have stayed if we knew we'd be charged double what we expected. It just seems like poor business ethics to not tell customers they will be charged whether they smoke one puff or a full bowl. read more

I've been going to this hookah lounge for almost a decade and while they have downsized considerably, the prices are awesome with $10 per person per bowl and free tea and/or water(seriously, hydrate, don't be a tough guy). The service is mostly great, it really depends on who the sharista is while you're there, Noah, Reeves, and Abbey are great and super friendly, however one of the sharistas I dont know too well or talk to them much because they are cold to anyone who isn't their closest homies and they've opened the place late more than a couple times when they are the opener. As I've said, they've downsized considerably, so get there early or risk a crowded bar spot, a cold(now that it's colder months) outside spot, or no spot at all and be put on a hour long waiting list. Oh, and one more thing, they usually remember your routines after a while and serve you accordingly which can be a good thing or a bad thing, so just keep that in mind. If you consistently bring your own drink, eventually they'll stop asking you if you want one and you have to ask everytime forever after. read more

While I am about to write a heavy review, its important to mention the difference between a hookah bar and a lounge. What I was actually looking for when I went into Algiers this evening, was a hookah lounge, or a hospitable company with a classy atmosphere, quality product and friendly yet professional service. Algiers is the opposite of all these things because it is a hookah BAR. That's my guess at least. However, when we had a party of 6 people come in (we started with 2) we weren't offered a second hookah, then proceeded to be charged $10 dollars each for 6 people to one hookah. This is by far the best hookah bar I have ever been to. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly if you have concerns or questions about flavors or bowls. I really enjoy that you can come in and read/study while you smoke, or just simply jump into a conversation with a fellow patron. They work hard to make everything fair, including seating. It is first come, first served. you are wait-listed (and we all have been at one point) the will notify you when they have space for you and the staff really does there best to ensure fairness. If you are looking for a douchey "bro" club like hookah bar, Algiers is not your place. Yuck is all I can say! Our hookah wasn't smoking worth a darn so we called over someone to fix it, she seemed to get it smoking better but we shouldn't have to suck that hard to get so little smoke. We also had a hard time purging it, pulled off the purge valve and MOLD! We were told they must have just "missed it" you don't just miss mold! This is a wonderful place to relax with friends. Sometimes it gets crowded on weekends and you have to wait for a while to get in, but no worries once you do get in it is fantastic! The tea's free and the music's great (unlike some other unnamed hookah bars in town, Algiers doesn't feel the need to blast "Apple Bottom Jeans" 10 times in a row into your head holes). Lol! Definitely not go here if you are going out with someone that doesn't like to be in a room full of smoke. This marks my third time to a Hookah bar. I have been harping on Steven for a long time to try Hookah and he finally gave in. Algiers was smaller than I thought. There are two rooms where you can go to smoke. In the back room there are big lounging areas that you climb up onto after you take off your shoes. Both rooms had a lot of people and there was smoke every where. Kind of a first for me since I have been to pretty well ventilated Hookah bars in the past. Steve, poor Steve he went through three different personality changes being there for the hour or so we were there. We sat for a very short time and he complained that he could not breathe the thick air with all of the smoke. He almost acted like a grandmother having a panic attack. He managed to get past it though. We ordered the Colombian blend I believe because it had Chai in it which I love. The blend tasted great! The waitress was nice and turned the coals when it was supposed to be turned. I was enjoying myself a great deal! Steve on the other hand took a couple of puffs and contorted his face like a child does when they have to eat spinach and then sat there the rest of the time there like a nun. Sitting stiff and upright, hands clasped together. Ok, I got the hint. He did not like Hookah. I find that odd since he has no complaints about the pleasures associated with MMJ. We stayed a bit longer and then left. I reeeeeeally enjoyed my experience at Algiers and want to go back but I realize I may have to go by myself or make some new friends that like Hookah because Steve won't have any of it. Algiers is a great place with a wonderful late-night tea house atmosphere. It's one of my favorite places in Fort Collins to either chill with friends or sit and draw or do homework. The people are friendly and the flavors are great. The reason for the bad review, however, is because of a single employee. I expressed a problem with my hookah and she said "ok" and walked away, then charged me for three bowls (which was $24) when I was leaving. I told her I wasn't willing to pay for bowls I didn't order, and in fact I was very unhappy with the service and didn't feel I should pay full price for the bowl I did have. She refused to even attempt to make things right and finally I asked for a manager and she said she didn't have one. She was extremely rude and unobliging and was unwilling to help me. I hope her apparently nonexistent managers can teach her how to not only appease unhappy customers, but also how to be a nice human being. Her name is Ericka. I've never left a review before but I'm really mad that my favorite place in Fort Collins treated me this way. Update: the manager messaged my privately (I knew they had one!) and has made amends. I rescind my one-star review and give it five: because maybe there was a mistake or a grumpy employee, but they made it right by me. read more

I went here to compare how this place did to narghile nights. It was a tad bit better in almost every aspect. First, the atmosphere is cozy, and relaxed, even more so than narghile nights. In general the set up is just nicer ad more unique and not quite so open. The only thing I can say that Narghile might have done a tad bit better on was MAYBE the hookah. Algiers is by far the best hookah place around. The staff is friendly and they visibly bust their butts to take the best care of you they can. The prices are reasonable and the shisha selection is top notch. The regulars are also just the best people in town. They are a laid back, accepting crowd that will make you feel like a part of the family. To begin I'd like to say GREG is a fantastic employee. At least one person in this place knows what costumer service is. This hookah bar has a great location in a college town and a great set up to hang out and do hookah. However, besides GREG the employees here need to work on their costumer service. We have been here 4 times we have had issues with how the staff treats us. Either you are ignored until you have to go up to someone to get their attention that you paid to smoke not just pay to sit there and stare at the wall. There is also an instance when a employee half assly doing their job and rudely asked to put in head phones if we were going to listen to things other than the music being provided. One, learn how to professionally ask costumers to do what you want rather than acting like the only thing that matters is your opinion. This place is ran by a group of hipster assholes on high horses with huge egos that have no idea what costumer service even is. Maybe these people should be required to work in a restaurant before they step foot into a hookah bar. I'm sorry, when you work in the service industry and want regulars, treat them with respect. Advice: 1 make them feel welcomed like Greg does and 2 and don't tell costumers what to do if THEY are paying for the environment. What a disgrace for this business. As a long time resident and customer service savant it is with great disappointment that I write the worst review for my former favorite hookah and general hangout destination. The service is beyond unexceptional. After asking for their best tobacco they provide me with a Chinese hookah ignoring the traditional Egyptian hookah. Furthermore, they furnished my hookah with quicklight coals, the worst and harshest coals available on the market. Regardless of the positive attitude I try to maintain, the employees have clearly never had any official training regarding basic customer service etiquette; let alone any level of education regarding tobacco, hookah, or personal advocacy. I am so thoroughly disappointed by this experience that I cannot wait to get back to Denver where the real art of hookah is acknowledged and expanded. read more

I recently smoked shisha here for the first time. I had no idea what to expect. As I entered this divey little hole in the wall I was thinking how bad it was going to smell. To my surprise, despite the heavy clouds of smoke, it was light, and pleasing. We sat outside. There is a nice feeling in sitting in this place, with it's broken down, shanty-like feel and reclaimed "furniture." The person who served us seemed to be in a really bad mood and told us how busy she was when we asked her something, yet went straight back to her hookah and conversation with her friends. There is definitely a clique here for local college kids. They really need to do something a about rocking tables/chairs on an uneven floor. We almost lost the hookah at one point. A bowl of shisha costs 8 dollars. That is a per person charge. so 16 for a couple to share that one bowl. It's more of a cover charge than a price per product. Not a bad place, but I wouldn't go back. I'd rather get my own hookah/shisha and enjoy my own home. read more

I've been going to Algiers for years. since I turned 18 in fact, it used to be great, and the people were respectful and were professional. the key word being "were". Algiers is a classic case of good employees being replaced by poor ones because of poor and rarely seen and high turnover of management. for example, last night, I waited for 7 hours for a bowl, one hour before closing I left, because there would be no point wasting money on a bowl I COULD have smoked for 4 hours and then being cut off after one. in addition, unless you're one of the employees "Bro's" you're almost TOTTALY ignored except for the bare minimum of service. the wifi is crap, and they play the music so loud, that you could have your headphones blaring at top volume or be talking to someone 2 feet away and not hear a single word. honestly, the only reason I come back is because I have a friend who goes there that I have known forever and he's one of my best friends. read more
