Big fan of this particular Alfalfa location. I am not sure how all the other locations are but they could definitely learn from this one. Location is great and the inside is very modern and cozy. Has some nice seating inside, a very nice and clean bathroom , and some outside seating during the nice weather. Overall food has always been consistently good here and the flavors always hit. The variety on the menu is great too because you are not limited just to salad. Their chicken and breakfast wraps are great and very filling. The salads are all great of course and the protein options are all tasty. One of my favorite things here is coming for the coffee which is made from ORGANIC coffee beans and even the whole milk they use is organic. Can't find that anywhere else in Jersey City...if you can please let me know! And lastly, the staff is all amazing and very kind. They are always very welcoming and go above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. Definitely recommend for everyone to try this location. I was checking out the menu from outside and it sort of reminded me of Panera in terms of selection, which evoked negative emotions (given how bad the quality of Panera has gotten recently). And the prices are closer to Sweetgreen than JustSalad, which is fine. But the macros looked solid and it's close to Base, so I was on the fence. One of the staff was kind enough to chat me through the menu and our nutrition plans, so I told myself I would give it a shot. It greatly exceeded my expectations. Think back to before Panera sold out to Corporate cost-minimizing, it was even notably better than that. The spicy calabrian caesar is simply a perfect lunch. The lettuce was crisp, the chicken was fresh, the chilis were thin-sliced and pickled to add a more delicate heat and acidity, the parmesan is shaved reggiano to add a bold cheesy bite that can stand up to the spicy caesar dressing. And I had crispy shallots and quinoa on mine, which was excellent. Even the croutons were fresh. I read a little online and it's clear by the attention to the food and the community fundraising / philanthropy that these are owners that are looking to invest in the neighborhood and the community, not checking some excel spreadsheet on their phone from a resort in Italy (looking at you, Panera. Nobody made you sell out). What a fantastic experience. I'm about to move about a mile away, and after writing this review I'm going to grab a pair of running shoes so I can continue to stop by after workouts. I could use the cardio anyway. read more

Came here Monday about noon. Not busy inside but lots of takeout orders. Cashier was extremely kind and patient as we have never been here before. We ordered Sunflower & Dear Darla and she asked on a salad or a wrap, which I didn't know you can have it in wrap; so I found this helpful. As she typed in our orders she also asked if we would like to have drinks, which we both agreed to have the iced chai and turmeric ginger lemonade . The salads were good. Though nothing spectacular. I feel like this is a salad I could make at home easily and have a few for the week for price we paid combined. Also, no sunflower seed in my sunflower salad! The space was very clean, spacious and well maintained. Though as I mentioned it was noon and not crowded,so probably able to upkeep any employee and customer mess with ease. I recommend for a good salad on the run. I will try a wrap next time with maybe more substance to see if I can up my rating. read more

The donuts could use a little more flavor, they aren't too sweet which is great because I hate a cloyingly sweet dessert but they also lack flavor, like in the actual dough. My go-to order is still the spicy Calabrian Caesar wrap with extra chicken. Runs me almost $30 (mostly because of the extra protein up charge) which seems absurd but I'm always satisfied so I categorize it as a "once in a while splurge." read more

Used to be a big fan of this place. Usually great, fresh food. However the downtown location has been absolutely abysmal the past few times I've ordered. Constantly missing ingredients or dressing in salads we order. We literally got delivered one that was just a bowl of lettuce??? What is going on with their employees? After going to Alfalfa a few times, we're definitely big fans! While we usually get the build your own salad option, I've also tried their seasonal salads every once in a while and I've enjoyed what I got! This is one of the few places where I've seen that you get money back (or deducted from the total price) when you remove ingredients. It's extremely fair and makes you feel as though they're not trying to rip you off (good value)! For example, if you get a seasonal salad and exclude cheese, they'll give you the value of the cheese off the total price of the salad. For build your own, you also have the ability to add ingredients including extra protein (which is fairly standard). They're great about putting things on the side if you request it (this applies to ingredients and not just dressing) and even having the option to have different amounts of dressing or for it to be mixed in/on the side. The portion size is good as well. We're very happy with the quality of the ingredients and we'll continue to be repeat customers for sure! read more

This is an honest review. There is not a lot of parking (of course it is jersey city) so take that into consideration. I ordered their most popular salad and it was underwhelming for me. I felt like the lettuce bits were too big, there wasnt that much chicken, and overall I thought my salad was average. There definitely is flavor and I liked the dressing but I just could not justify the price point of $16+ . Although I work in the area, I am unlikely to come back due to the parking situation and slight disappointment from the first order. Met my friend here finally after forgetting to check it out for a while. Such a cute cafe! Pink is so calming and brightening to the mind. The service was great and so were the donuts! That's a lot of info to hand over just to get a takeout salad. Plus, if you have trouble logging in, you have to call and hope someone is available to help you troubleshoot. So you can...order a salad. Even when it works well, you need to confirm a pin they send to your email just to...order a salad. Technology is ruining even the simplest tasks.
