I gave him a pewter tea set to sell, he was supposed to start the bidding higher, we talked about it. I trusted him. He sold it for $9.99 a vintage pewter tea set. I know pewter isn't as popular now but he knows I would never agree to receive $4.32 for it. When I called him he said I agreed to it. I have sold many expensive things with him; he refused to compensate me for this mistake. I think he hired someone new and maybe that was the problem; he dropped the ball and his indifference was really upsetting.

I've won items at 2 auctions now. The first was one in Maryland, and it was an awesome experience…read more Scanned our phone, promptly brought our items to us, everything was as expected. They even helped us load our truck, which we weren't expecting but was helpful. The second experience was... Not that experience. We showed up and gave our name. I included a photo of the listing in my Google review, but the item was listed as quantity 6 of a two pack of boards. We measured and confirmed that 12 of the boards was what we'd need for our space, so we bid on that and won. They provided us with 6 boards total, instead of the 12 you would get if any other website worded a listing in such a way. When I asked them about this, they kept saying 2x3=6, which, while true, didn't apply to this listing, as no where on the listing did they say anything about 3. The woman working there also mentioned that the listings were written by AI and sometimes pick up the wrong numbers. We brought this up to Rasmus support, and when I told them that if I purchased from Amazon for example, and the listing said pack of 2, and I ordered 6, I would get 12 total boards. The support person told me this was not Amazon. They sided with the sellers. Screenshot of this attached in Google review as well. We had also purchased a sink. They looked around some, then told us someone else had taken it? It was just gone. They would refund us at least, but unfortunately we had also bid on an accessory specifically fitted to that sink. We asked if they could refund us for that as well, since they lost our sink, and they said no, our only options were taking the accessory or forfeiting it. This was a really frustrating experience all around. I would not recommend this company to anyone. If you have to use the company, I would suggest avoiding any Richmond auctions that list "711 Hospital St, Richmond, VA 23219" as the pickup location. Or at least, don't trust any of the numbers they list.

They did have items for sale from 25% to 75% off yet they were not items I was interested in buying. Customer service was good. Most of the expensive & luxury brand items were placed in locked cabinets except for a set of $400 Waterford crystal. The Hour specializes in new and vintage merchandise dedicated to one of my most favorite distractions: the cocktail. But not just any cocktail. Oh, no. The cocktail of the 40s, 50s, and 60s. A bygone era when Tom Collins was king, a circle dress hung in any self-respecting woman's closet, and the cocktail party was a regular weekend occurrence. (To drive home their commitment to this epoch, The Hour sells "Mad Men" box sets.) The vintage glass collection here is mesmerizing. I was particularly taken with the cocktail sets -- gorgeous pitchers or shakers plus the requisite sipping glasses -- and a little stand of silver and stone picks. Husband was particularly taken by the flasks, especially a masculine looking glass one with a mahogany brown leather cover. He also wanted to walk out with a fun set of golden Toledo cocktail swords. En garde! I spent a lot of time in the little back room that features cocktail party baubles and accessories any woman would covet, from sparkly rhinestone broaches and silk clutches, to exquisite cocktail rings with oversized flowers and feathered hair pieces. I picked up a funky portable purse hook with a fun, retro design...for some reason I've been wanting one for ages, and where better to buy one than at an independent neighborhood store? Not only is The Hour a completely absorbing place to browse and shop; not only is the merchandise impeccably selected and thoughtfully displayed; not only are the prices fair and the staff friendly; but they have also partnered with St. Coletta of Greater Washington, a non-profit that works with adults with intellectual disabilities. The Hour sells pretty glass coasters and trays made by the St. Coletta community, and for each purchase donates $5 back to St. Coletta. Supporting a small local business that, in turn, is giving back to my community? Yes, please.
