I enjoyed that their group session is a 6:1 ratio (students to teacher). I see progress after each of the session and is in disbelief that hes able to answer complex puzzles and verbal questions. Ms Maxine is a delight and all teachers geniuely care about the student's well-being and progress. During the last session, Ms Maxine provided me a list of helpful tips which helped in prepping him for the test. And, the entire staff always answer my questions promptly through email. Irrespective of the outcome of the score, I think my son walked away with knowledge (logic, vocabulary, critical thinking, etc) which he can easily applied toward his future studies.

Had an amazing experience with Idea Tutors!…read more After not taking a math class in years, I came in halfway through Calculus already failing the class and prepping for midterms. I also have a crazy hectic schedule as I work full time and am also going back to school. Nightmare client. I've never needed/gotten tutoring before so I was pretty skeptical but reached out anyway. Andrew connected me with Amy and she helped me catch up and pass the class. When I moved on to Calculus 2, I thought I might go it alone but quickly realized I couldn't hack it without help. I reached out again and worked with someone new, Teresa. She helped me go from failing the class to getting an A! Without the help of this group there's no way this could've been possible. I'm hugely in their debt. Both tutors were incredibly kind, patient, responsive, flexible and most of all, helpful. Andrew also is always kind and lightning fast responsive, exactly what you need when you're in a pinch. We worked together online using Skype and a great little whiteboarding app called Ziteboard. I was skeptical of that too, but it worked SO well and made scheduling so much easier! You pay for classes in a chunk but they practically instantly refund whatever you don't need. The first day I picked her up and she was grinning...she said "I actually had a good time...we learned a lot, but the teacher was super funny and that made it fun". She was having such a good time that I wondered if she was focusing. But she did great on the test. She also took a class to prepare for the test given by the middle school and left the test feeling like it was easy. That made me nervous, but she scored well and was accepted in the the school. Beside her doing well, the personal service at ibid is excellent. All the instructors seem well trained, but the owner Stuart is especially knowledgeable. The advisors will provide with whatever you need in order to enhance your teaching by any means. They have gone above and beyond for me to the BEST of their ability. Downsides: Like any other tutoring gig, you'll get a student if there is a need for a subject. My speciality classes I taught were: Global and United States History Regents, Biology Regents, 3rd grade to 5th grade English Language Arts. However, the need at the time was normally Math and Science. So if you specialize in these areas, please apply here. Granted, you need to constantly contact the place and speak with the supervisors to see if there any available students. Advice for tutors: Be passionate about your subject, LOVE what you teach and do it for expertise in what you know. NOT FOR THE PAYCHECK. If your passionate of what you love, make it fun and enjoyable, I can promise you the students will look forward to coming back to see you.

My son was close but not quite up to the level he needed to be to get an offer from any of the specialized schools. He was burned out, and the uncertainty about whether, when, and how the SHSAT would be administered didn't help. It wasn't until mid-January, a little more than two weeks before the test, that my son regained enough enthusiasm to refocus. I got in contact with Ed, and he very quickly set up a short series of private sessions for my son with Adnan. I had my doubts about how much could be accomplished in just a few sessions, but these were put to rest in the first 10 minutes working with Adnan -- it was clear that he had the expertise to quickly assess my son's strengths and weaknesses and make very productive use of the limited time available. After four sessions my son felt a lot more comfortable with material he had been struggling with and confident about his prospects. I was very pleased and highly recommend Antoine Education. (While the test results would not have impacted my review, I decided to wait until the receiving them in hopes of having a better story to tell.
