When I lived in New York, I was lucky enough to find Dr. Peng. To this day, he's one of the best…read moredoctors I've ever had and his staff is fantastic. Why is Dr. Peng so great? Well first of all, he listens and is actively interested in trying to figure out what happened and how we can find a solution. While sitting in the examination room, Dr. Peng would absorb everything I said, then ask me detailed follow-up questions. He would think out loud about possible causes of whatever issue I was complaining about, and you could see the wheels in his head turning as he went through one possibility after another. It was like watching a detective work. Throughout the process, he encouraged my input ("Do you think it could be related to ______?"). After we discussed all the possible scenarios, Dr. Peng would make a treatment plan and then we'd set up a follow-up appointment. Every time I saw him it was the same process: He would listen to my updates, then we'd make a new plan based on what worked and what didn't. In the end, we successfully figured out a solution to my problem. Overall, I found Dr. Peng warm, friendly, and intensely caring. I no longer reside in New York, but I highly recommend him if you live there and are in need of a urologist.

I joined Yelp nearly 9 years ago and have not written a review. So, this will be my first Yelp…read morereview: Last September, my dad developed a condition, which required an urgent need for a urologist. After much research and sleepless nights, we decided to make an appointment with Dr. Peng. Initially, Dr. Peng prescribed medications to try to resolve the condition and avoid an invasive procedure. After a couple of weeks, it was clear medication was not working and Dr. Peng suggested surgery. Dr. Peng was very through and explained everything to us in English to me and in Mandarin to my dad. Dr. Peng put us at ease enough for us to make the decision to let him do the operation. I am very happy to report, 3 months after my dad's operation, the surgery was very successful and the recovery smooth. My family (especially my dad) could not be more grateful for Dr. Peng and his staff. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Peng to anyone who needs a urologist. Dr. Peng's personality, professionalism, and skills deserves my first Yelp review and the five stars that goes with it.

Well-organized office with knowledgeable doctors and PAs…read more Consultants in Urology has been my go-to office for routine checkups and occasional treatment for over eight years. On each visit I was impressed by the professionalism of the PAs and staff, the short wait times, and the availability of sonograms and other testing procedures on site. Since I haven't had any major issue, I only saw Dr. Sherman during my very first visit and once again recently. All other times I was seen by PAs only. Though at some point it felt weird not seeing a doctor at all during a doctor's office visit, I realized that the knowledge and skill level of the PAs was more than sufficient for my needs. Special thanks to Michael Robilotti, PA for successfully treating an acute condition I had in November 2025 and seeing me same day without an appointment. Overall, I highly recommend Consultants in Urology for their expertise, professionalism, and quality of care.

I questioned their practice of sending out too many notices to reschedule an appointment and I was informed that I will no longer receive care from their office. Richard Maggio, MD - My (internal) pigtail stent. After all I went through I asked to keep it as a souvenir.

"Never Change A Urologist Mid-Stream - Unless His Name Is Maggio"…read moreI developed two large kidney stones a couple of years ago and began seeing blood in my urine, accompanied by back pain. The ER recommended Richard Maggio. Maggio scheduled a ureteroscopy to remove both. When I awoke in the recovery room I was dismayed to find he had failed to remove the larger stone saying, "It just fell in there." He didn't explain where "there" was but I left the hospital with a stone and two stents. The stents came as a surprise as he had never mentioned them in preliminary discussions. One of the stents (attached to a cord protruding out from my euphemism) was simply yanked out during an office visit. Again, no prelim discussion. I would have switched doctors at this point as I had lost all confidence in Maggio but I coined a new proverb: Never change urologists in mid-stream. And so I was obliged to go for a second procedure, a shock wave lithotripsy, as I still had a 9mm stone causing havoc. I asked if the second stent (an internal pigtail) would be removed at that point and he said, "maybe." It wasn't. And so I went back to the office for a followup visit and he removed the internal stent, without anesthesia. It was not a pleasant experience. I found Richard's manner smug and glib and have serious doubts about his abilities as a medical practitioner. Recently (February 16, 2019), he was in the news - according to the Staten Island Advance he was arrested for possession of MDMA, cocaine and driving without a license. Hmm. I would not recommend Dr. Maggio. I think you'd have better luck drinking lots of Chanca Piedra tea and riding the Cyclone at Coney Island - or riding a motorcycle over Staten Island's notorious potholes. Regarding my recovery - it took a very long time (over a year) before I stopped feeling minor discomfort when urinating - the human urethra is not designed to withstand the amount of traffic mine endured, reminiscent of the Brooklyn Queens Expressway at rush hour.

This is a terrible doctor who only care how to make more money from the patient. I have ED problem…read more When I saw him the first time, he never examine my private part( penis) and the rest of my physical exam. And also doesn't care what kind of medication do I take currently because some medication like opioid medication does cause ED problem. He also did not ask me the detail of my medical history. He just told me to go ahead to do the blood flow sonogram test of my penis and never explain what is the test for; how the procedure will help my ED problem etc. So his intention was to get me to do a very expensive procedure called GainsWave which will cost about $5000.00 and is not covered by any insurance and need patient to pay him cash only ! So never go to this doctor again. He is not a responsible physician! He only care how to make more money from you!
