Super cool recording space in Ames! I had been to Alexander Recording Kompany years ago in it's location under Reimans' music.. So when I got to the new spot I was pretty blown away! I was just here watching a recording session, for a collaborative recording project that Christopher the Conquered is doing at Studios around Iowa.. But it was great exposure to this studio, I got to see a song being performed, recorded, and mixed.. So I was in all the spaces of the studio.. Really comfy control room, with great lighting! Nice iso room! Great live room! Also killer green room! Everything is super clean and so were the sounds! They have nice mics and a good digital protools set up! So nice to see an Actual recording console in a digital studio! Dennis the owner is so welcoming, offering water, coffee, and hey even a shot of whiskey if you need it... Dan the engineer did a great job as well! A clean, cool, comfy spot to be creative! How can you go wrong! I felt very at home here! read more

I recorded my first LP here between May and September of 2010. Dennis Haislip, the owner/engineer, was an absolute pleasure to work with and has one of the best ears around. He has two ears, that's just a figure of speech. The quality of the tracks are comparable to the stuff you hear on the radio, and the environment is always relaxed yet professional. Any musician in the area that wants a great recording at $35 per hour would be crazy to go anywhere other than the ARK. read more
