Living where we do demands open spaces between neighbors to ensure all homes have an unobstructed view of our lake. Our next-door neighbor has a dog, which is very friendly but can be a pest. I called Alex Wrought Iron to replace a trio of wooden gates, two on either side of my house, plus one leading to an enclosed part of my yard. Alex and his son came out, carefully measured all three areas, showed me lots of samples of their previous work, and really worked with me to establish what I wanted to do to a level of custom detail that was really amazing. I was able to choose upper detail, lower detail, meshing, the exact types of locks I wanted, the direction the gates would swing, the ratios for a extra large gate to an RV parking area... every little detail. Alex's son is a genius with wrought iron painting and suggested a type of quick drying paint that was perfect for our needs and worked with us on color. The whole job was done amazingly quickly, only about two weeks from the first meeting to completed installs of all gates. It's now six months later, all three gates are still gorgeous, they are so perfectly balanced you can move them with your pinky finger and they're standing up to both Bakersfield sun and freezes without a single ripple or problem. Everything is tightly integrated to the existing fencing and sides of the house. You can tell just by looking at them that they'll still look and work great years and years from now. Best of all, the estimate for the work was extremely reasonable -- the least expensive estimate I received! -- and Alex was extremely communicative at every step of the process, telling me exactly what would happen and when. They carted off the old wooden gates and did a great clean-up of all three work sites, even cutting away and removing an obsolete pillar that the house's previous owners had put in for a cheapo fix to a previous problem, something that wasn't even within the scope of the job I asked for. They just did it because it made the gates they put in look better. All in all, I'm thrilled with Alex Wrought Iron. Call them! You won't be disappointed. read more
