Never never never use this tailor to do anything for you. First all, it took him more than a month to hem my five jeans. It's summer and I didn't care but my biggest regrets of taking my bran new Joe's jeans and Rag and Bone jeans there is that they are all ruined. I have a pair of boot cut joe's jeans. I tried it on and fold the leg and made marks for him and told him I needed the length to be at the mark. All the other jeans are skinny jeans. He hemmed my boot leg jeans the same length as the skinny jeans! They not hang high at my ankle and they are not wearable. I took them back, he had to let all he fold in out and used the cut off part to sew and Length the jean but the end result is they are still a inch short. I can't wear heels with them and those jeans are $179 per pairs. My Rag and Bone jeans are $198 per pair and I sent two of them. They are abt 4 inches too long. He just folded the legs couple times to see the inside. All the extra length was at my ankle. How can anyone wear skinny jeans like that? I asked him to alter them right and he was angry and simply cut the inside part off and hand sew them on the legs. It is totally unacceptable. I also took a skirt from Lilly Pulitzer. It was a blue skirt and he used purple thread to sew. It was supposed to be sewed inside and flip out so u don't sew the sewing lines. He sewed from the outside and the sewing lines are so crooked that he missed a few spots and the fabric is not sewed together. I asked him to fix it and he was angry and told me I was picky and said he doesn't have thread to match and he would fix the sewing bunt with the same purple thread. I had to go home and look in my drawers and find the close color and provided the thread to him to fix it. After it has been fixed, it is still ugly and crooked. This is a brandnew skirt that coat $168! I also took a Lilly Pulitzer pink dress to make the collar smaller. Same thing: the thread obvious didn't match and sewing line on my collar, right in the front are so crooked and over ran( he missed the collar line and had to sew back and forth a few times to fix it made a big bunch of lines right under my chin! I asked him to fix. Again, he was angry and rude and told me he will never alter for me. I actually don't want him to do anything for me either. With the hundreds of dollars spent there, I now have three pairs of expensive designer's jeans completely ruined and an ugly skirt and dress I can never wear again. I don't bother to argue with him when I got my things. Just want everybody to know how bad he is. I'm considering to ask a lawyers to get my money paid for my items back from him but not Sure it if is worth the fight. Do not use this person unless your goal is to never wear your garment again. read more

Alex tailored my bridesmaid dress in 2.5 weeks and all for an affordable price. It fits perfect now and I love the dress! He listened to what I wanted and made it happen. He was willing to price match a local competitor if I paid in cash. Great local business to support! I will come back to him for future tailoring needs. Let me begin by saying it breaks my heart to write this review, however, I feel like it's my due diligence to. Businesses are severely impacted by Yelp reviews but I am only basing this review off of MY experience. Sorry Alex.... I came to Alex's shop and could immediately tell how swamped he was. According to him, summer is his busiest season. I told him he could take extra time on the 7 pants I brought as I wasn't in a hurry. We agreed on two weeks. When two weeks rolls around Alex tells me he needs more time and can have them the next day. I'm slightly annoyed because this means he's going to rush my job. I oblige. The next day I get my pants and only 2 out of the 7 I am content with. I am really upset about the way 3 pairs turned out so I return. I expressed my concerns to Alex and he fixed them by the next day, but they still were not what I asked for AND I paid him a little extra. Additionally, when I turned the pants inside out I was disappointed with the quality of the stitching. It was crooked with string everywhere. It looked.... Rushed. If I'm bringing something into a tailor, it means it's valuable enough for me to spend money on. I had to bring my pants to another local tailor who did a better job. However you get what you pay for. In total I spent over $120 tailoring my pants to get them the way I finally needed. Maybe Alex was really busy. HE IS AN AMAZING AND FRIENDLY GUY. But I won't be returning with items I care about. Maybe he is just better at men's clothing or a different type of alteration than what I needed. Old world quality-new world service. Serious...from the old world , but younger. Trained to make clothing ... not just to stitch things. Excellent workmanship...a little spotty on delivery. NB ... he does call if he's backed up and needs an extra day, but infrequently. Because of this, I avoid bringing something to him I need overnight. By the look of the crowded little shop, he must be there 7 days a week...although I went on a Saturday once and found a note - "back at 3P" ... I later found out it was his daughters wedding day! You kinda get what you pay for. I gave Alex around 5 items with small repairs and it came out to a little over $100. A few of my things were not tailored perfectly - one was way too tight, and had some seams starting to rip. Alex did say I could bring my stuff back to him if I was unhappy, which is great (and I haven't done because I'm lazy). Overall it wasn't shoddy work per se, but like other people have noted, Alex is WAY overworked - I almost felt bad for giving him more work! Went into his shop for the first time 4 days before traveling for a wedding. I had a dress that needed hemming, as well as advice on the zipper because the pull had detached. Alex immediately told me that there is absolutely no fix for the zipper and he would have to replace it. He quoted me at $15 for the zipper replacement which seemed reasonable. He then said he could hem the dress all in for $25. He measured me, I told him I would be wearing 3 inch heels, so he added that to the height. I left the dress with him and was told to return in 3 days to pick it up. I came back at the designated time and the dress was ready! Woohoo! Paid the $25 and left for NJ. When I get to NJ for the wedding, I realize that he had someone reattached the pull of the zipper (which he quoted me was IMPOSSIBLE to fix), and it immediately fell off as I went to zip the dress. The dress was also hemmed way too short. He never added in the additional inches for the heels. So basically... he charged me for work he never did, hemmed the dress at the wrong length rendering the dress completely unwearable. Mind you, this was a $700 DRESS! I should have taken it somewhere more reputable yet due to yelp reviews and the proximity of his services I brought it to him. 7 months ago I dropped off a sweatshirt that had been torn in half, asking Alex if he could mend it. I told him it was no rush, I didn't need it urgenty. As months had passed I dropped by Alex's shop multiple times to see if if was ready, each time I told him not to worry, and that it was no rush. Received a voicemail couple of days ago saying the sweatshirt was ready and that he had tried to reach me a couple weeks ago. I was without a cell phone for a week the first time he tried, and never received his voicemail. Today I stopped by to pick it up, explained I was without a phone when he first tried to reach me and never received his phone message, and apologized. I was yelled at by Alex and reprimanded for not returning his calls, told he thought I didn't care about the sweatshirt and was going to get rid of it, after I had apologized and explained I didn't receive his first message due to not having a cell phone at the time. I have always treated this individual with respect, never complained when it took 7 months to hem the sweatshirt. In the past I've had to wait over half an hour past the time he told me to come by to collect items because he was late, and I never complained. I'm sorry to say I do not recommend this tailor because he does not treat customers with respect. read more

Unfortunately I can't recommend Alex. While his prices are quite good, ultimately this is a case of: you get what you pay for. I brought several garments to Alex. I found the quality of the work to be poor and everything was wrinkled at pickup. For example, for one item, rather than opening up seams and sewing it back together for an invisible alteration, he just folded the strap over and sewed directly on top. I went to Alex a number of times without incident. His prices were very reasonable (cheap, actually) and his work seemed pretty good. Then, he screwed up the sleeves on my jacket. He cut the sleeves on a slant, forgot to move one of the button, and didn't trim any of the lining, leaving it billowing toward the cuff. Note: Alex works late on most of the days and wanted to let people know. On weekdays, he might be on till 8 or 9 pm sometimes and he also works on Sundays. It's best to call his number to see if he's at the store. I had my Tux altered from Alex recently. NO SMALL TALKS! He is straight-to-the-point, dont-waste-my-time kinda guy. It might be little bit turn off for some people. His work speaks for himself. Tux coat sleeve and pant length had to be altered. He took a week and delivered it on time. The fit was perfect. I had a pair of terribly ripped jeans. Alex took them and patched them and they look like new, all for $7. Amazingly when I went to his store it was closed for a bit and I started walking home and he must have seen me trying to get in and chased me down and invited me back to his store and apologized for being away. The store is something out of a quirky independent movie: no real storefront, a cramped little room filled to the brim with orders coming and going complete with the proprietor with a thick Eastern European accent. Alex also does shoe repairs and dry cleaning. He does outstanding work for little money and is almost overly friendly and loves his job. What's not to like? Located in the oddly overcrowded dry cleaning/washing/tailoring hub of Oak Square, this fine little gem sticks out heads and shoulders above the rest of mom and pops all a stones throw away from each other. read more

I had purchased the dress for my graduation and he had it finished right on time. Pricing was extremely reasonable and he told me to bring it back and he would clean it after. I first took a pair of pants to Alex back in February. He did a great job with them and they were only $10 to have hemmed, which is extremely reasonable. However, since then, the quality of his work is all over the place (probably based on how much time he has to finish it). I realize that he is incredibly busy in the summer, but the last straw for me was when I took a dress I was wearing to a wedding to him for a very minor alteration. All he needed to do was shorten the straps. I asked him if he could get it done in two days and he assured me he could. I picked up the dress two days later, paid him the $10, and made the grave mistake of not trying it on before I left his shop. That weekend, I put on the dress, and discovered that the straps are totally uneven. Uneven to the point where it was extremely noticeable, even to my boyfriend. This is just totally unacceptable - I could have done a better job trying to do the alteration myself from the start! I had to spent 30 minutes before the ceremony doing an emergency sewing job on the dress so that it looked halfway decent. I was so frustrated and upset that I stopped by Alex's shop the following week to explain to him what happened. Instead of apologizing and admitting that he rushed the alterations, he tried to tell me that the dress itself was uneven to begin with. I couldn't believe it. I had tried the dress on IN HIS SHOP so he could measure how much to take from the straps - it was not uneven. The error was completely on his end and he wouldn't even admit to it. He offered to fix it, which at this point I said "no thanks" and left. I would highly advise people to think twice about taking something to Alex. Granted, his prices are cheap, but the quality is just not there. If it's an important or special article of clothing, pay the extra money and take it to a tailor that will put time and effort into your alterations and not ruin your clothes with a subpar job. Pretty bad service. Alex is never on time. I used to take my stuff to him because he was a little cheaper than everyone else, but the quality of his work is not worth it. It happened to me several times already when he didn't finish my coat and didn't even give me a call. After driving through traffic to Brighton I'm being told that my coat/dress/shirt isn't ready yet. Terrible and very unprofessional! Alex was great. Very friendly, and did a fantastic job altering my suit jacket and pants, for cheap. I have very broad shoulders and a relatively thin waist (compared to how jackets are normally cut) and so Alex had to let out the shoulders a little and take it in at the waist.
