His approach includes both old school and current techniques and training aids, and combines technical swing mechanics and subjective tools like visualization. In my case, I'm a senior, golfing since I was 10 years old, mostly self-taught, and with age have lost consistency and distance on my shots. My goal for golf is to improve or at least maintain my performance (I'm currently a 12 index), without trying to completely change my swing and without putting in hours of practice. I've had a few lessons with Jake and I've been able to improve my ball striking significantly by making some minor setup and swing adjustments he suggested and also by making some equipment changes; Jake identified that the lie angles on my irons were significantly wrong for my current swing and helped fit me for new irons that I hit much better from my first shot with them. I really like Jake's personal, informal approach. He's patient and emphasizes positive feedback to reinforce good outcomes during lessons so that I never feet pressured or discouraged during my lessons with him. If you want improve your golf game, or want to learn to play, I'm confident that Jake can help you. I completed my initial 90 min assessment w/ Lisa last Friday and I thought it was great. First, she talks to you about your golf history, goals, and where you think your game needs to improve. She then studies your body's movements and its limitations through a series of exercises and stretches. After looking at what equipment you're using (we breezed past this because I recently got fitted), she analyzes your swing and then formulates a plan. For me, the focus was on my basic setup: grip, ball position, and squaring my body and club face. I know that sounds super basic, but Lisa helped me develop a solid preshot routine that increases my chances of putting a good swing on the ball. The next day, I played Harding, and then Tilden the day after that. Typically after a lesson, my scores skyrocket (in a bad way) as I battle between my "old swing" and implementing new information. This time, however, my scores DROPPED by an average of 9 strokes. I guess having a repeatable, aligned, and square set up is important. Lol. Thanks Lisa! I'll be back for another lesson after I complete my "homework" from our first appointment.

I made a scheduling mistake for a golf swing assessment that was a meaningful gift from my father…read more I wrote the wrong date in my calendar -- a simple, human error. I thought I had double checked, but with some help from dyslexia, I misread the dates. I reached out, took responsibility, and asked if there was any possibility of flexibility, fully understanding that the policy might not allow it. The response I received from Kelly, Lisa's assistant (writing from Lisa's account) included: "I'm not sure why you felt the need to reach out a second time... I will not be communicating further regarding this matter." I respect policies. And my second email was, indeed Me requesting an honest exception to the policy. It was denied. That didn't surprise me. What surprised me was the tone, which felt unnecessarily dismissive for a first-time client sincerely trying to correct a mistake and build a long-term coaching relationship. A $295 loss for a simple scheduling error is significant, and I was hoping for a more understanding and human exchange. Others may have a different experience, and Lisa may be a strong instructor, but those who value supportive and empathetic communication may want to be aware of how scheduling matters are handled here.

His teaching style is relaxed yet focused, his approach is respectful, and the results have changed my game. You don't have to be a member at LMGC to take lessons from Dan, just call the pro shop and work with them to find a time on his calendar that works for you. The day of your lesson be sure *not* to wear jeans, and show up early to get warmed up on the range before the lesson. Even if the driving range is set up on mats, lessons with Dan are on grass. Crucial, that. Dan's rates are reasonable, and he always gives me a full hour lesson. On Wednesdays and Saturdays he sets up a digital video camera/laptop combination that enables him to do real-time swing analysis during your lesson. If you are a golf geek you'll relish the opportunity to see yourself in super-slow-motion with lines drawn in for swing plane at address, takeaway and impact. At the end of every lesson we review everything and go over the four or five keys to focus on. He always takes time with me to make sure what we covered has sunk in, and will be repeatable when I'm playing or practicing on my own. In addition to lessons on the range he also does walking lessons on the Lake Merced Golf Club course. Most importantly are results: Dan has helped my game immensely, and has been fun to learn from while doing it. When I finally do break 90 this guy is going to get at least half of the credit.

Yes, I experienced the same with Mitch not returning my message. It's because he's busy teaching. I sent him an email instead, and he promptly returned my phone call. We liked his style of coaching and his explanations made a lot of sense. We felt so comfortable with him that we signed up for 12 hours of semi-private lessons with him on the spot. We are still his students. Forget the text book techniques. Mitch can evaluate you and offer tips and help to improve your golf game for sure. I've told Mitch over and over that I can use a mini-Mitch when I'm on the course. He's the best. I didn't realize how good he was until I read his bio weeks into our lessons. I'm glad. The thing is, none of these resources can watch your swing with an experienced eye like Mitch's. I considered myself an advanced amatuer, having only been playing for about a year, but was feeling like I had hit a plateau in my game. I bought a lesson 3 pack from Mitch and I feel that having completed 3 1 hour lessons with him my game is on track to improve significantly. Mitch has an easy going no attitude approach to helping you work on your game, and is very good at listening to you about the areas that you would like to improve and then focusing on those. Highly recommended for anyone looking to take their game up a notch, and their handicap down.

I figured I needed individual instruction on the game, so I browsed instructors in the san francisco peninsula area and came across Manny's web page. I liked his philosophy on the game (you can read it on his website). He game me the basic fundamentals of the game with each lesson. Lesson 1: hitting the irons, he showed me the proper stance, grip, posture, swing, and approach. I was doing many things improper with what I thought was a good swing. He showed me a better way. Lesson 2: putting. Probably the most important of them all. He will show you the proper stroke and judgement of line to the hole as well as reading the hole. Lesson 3: using the driver. I had always had problems with the driver, he showed me a better way and the proper way to set up the shot. (I still cant hit the driver as solid but better than before.) Lesson 4: short game. He showed me the flop shot, and the run shot. These 2 I had no idea of, and now it is a lot of fun to attempt them. They are really effective. I am sure glad that I chose him as an instuctor and would recommend anyone who is starting and who has some experience under his/her belt. Other instructors I have looked up charge 60 bucks for 1/2 hour lessons, or a 4 half hour lessons for well over 200 bucks. Manny's price is by far the best value. I paid 190 bucks for four 1 hour lessons!! I think with the skills he showed me, and with a little practice, I will be able to shave some numbers off my game.

After a few lessons with Ron in which we dissected and broke down my swing and built it back up, we hit a breakthrough session. Not only was I able to consistently hit with an in to out path and a consistent low point, I added a fair amount of distance to my clubs (which wasn't my intent, but came in a natural way). Ron's teaches with enthusiasm, positivity, and patience. He individualizes different feels for me, so what may work with someone else may not work for me, and vice versa. Even though I've been pretty consistent with my swing, I plan on continuing with Ron to refine my swing and work on different aspects of golf.
