Lockhart Roofing - New roof in Clarkston Michigan

After sending a letter explaining my dissatisfaction with the work (and, frankly expecting no…read moreresponse) I got a call promising me that they would make it right. Sure enough, they followed through and re-did the entire job from scratch. Replaced the damaged plywood that had originally not been replaced, and re-replaced the shingles over the affected areas. The worker they sent to do the repairs was named James, and he worked a steady 6 hours on the project, and did a great job. I am very happy to see that Lockhart Roofing stands behind their work. Remember, if a phone call doesn't do it, write a letter. It usually gets to the right person, and in the age of social media, word-of-mouth is very important. I will certainly consider them on my short list of estimates when it's time to replace the entire roof in 10-15 years.

I tried to explain if the sales Mersin had turned the contract over and went over the hidden costs and circled the dollar amounts so a customer would be more prepared for the final bill... and he cut me off and said, it's not my problem if you don't know how to read. I deal with this crap all of the time. if you don't pay me in two weeks I'll take legal action. he wouldn't even let me explain my areas of concern and the difference from what the sled man said to me face to face and what was actually in the final bill. what a pour pour way to conduct business! Don't use these people. they are experts at fraud and misrepresentation!!!!

"WARNING TO GRAND BLANC/FLINT RESIDENTS: Avoid the service department at Gill-Roy's Hardware /…read moreGrand Blanc Outdoors. They held my 1987 Wheel Horse 520-H tractor for FIVE MONTHS over the prime mowing season, completely depriving me of its use on my 1-acre property, and ultimately returned it completely UNFIXED. When we repeatedly called to check on it, staff continuously claimed they had 'no knowledge' of our mower and didn't have it. When we escalated this tracking failure, a supervisor hostilely claimed we were 'disrespecting the company' for expecting them to know what jobs were in their shop, and explicitly stated he had 'no respect for my husband.' To make matters worse, they attempted to justify the months of zero progress by claiming they 'waived $2,000 in labor' for completely unauthorized, unsuccessful diagnostics. A corporate supervisor finally intervened and explicitly promised that corporate would ensure a mechanic properly repaired it. However, the local store manager actively defied corporate headquarters, countermanded the directive, and explicitly ordered the mechanic 'NOT TO TOUCH' my machine. This business is acting in terrible faith, violating consumer protection standards, and verbally harassing customers. A formal complaint has been filed with the Michigan Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division, and legal action is being initiated in the 67th District Court. Take your equipment elsewhere."

Horrible Toro repair experience…read more I own a Toro TimeMaster 30" consumer-grade mower. This mower uses two pulleys--one idler and one tensioner. While mowing my residential lawn (grass only--no rocks, sticks, or debris), the tensioner pulley completely disintegrated. When it failed, the blades slammed together and were destroyed as well. The mower has been well cared for and shows no signs of abuse. I took it to the Gil-Roy location for warranty service and received a call from the technician stating the repair could not be warrantied because the pulley hardware was "clearly bent," and that a rock or stick must have entered the mechanism. This is simply untrue--I was the one mowing, and when I removed the cover myself it was obvious that the cheap plastic pulley (sandwiched between two metal plates) had fractured and blown apart. The technician claimed he has been doing this work for 30 years and had never seen anything like it. A quick internet search shows the opposite--this is a well-known failure on the TimeMaster 30" consumer mower, with many documented cases of destroyed pulleys. Despite this, the technician tore the mower down far more than necessary just to tell me it would not be covered. I told him to reassemble it and return it to me, and I was charged a $50 bench fee, which I paid. When I got the mower back, I discovered one of the tensioner mounting screws had been stripped out during their work. I had to install a Heli-Coil to fix it. The technician argued with me about the damage, and Toro corporate was completely unresponsive. I later contacted another authorized Toro dealer, who confirmed they see this failure regularly but that Toro refuses to warranty belts and pulleys. I ultimately fixed the mower myself by installing the commercial-grade pulleys, and it now works fine. However, the overall experience was terrible. Toro does not stand behind a clearly flawed design, and Gil-Roy Outdoors in Grand Blanc showed no respect for their customer or their equipment. To make matters worse, this mower--which has always been stored in a garage--was left outside at their shop. When I picked it up, it had rust and visible environmental damage that was not there when I dropped it off. I'm giving this experience one star only because zero stars is not an option. I will never buy another Toro product, and I will absolutely never return to Grand Blanc Gil-Roy Outdoors for service.
