Dr Cao is a breath of fresh air in dentistry. Kind, thorough, and genuine. Her staff is friendly…read moreand patient, and the hygienist who cleans our teeth is unbelievably gentle, yet effective. More so than any other hygienist we've been to. The facility is clean and straight forward. We are very happy with this practice!

I had a change in insurance plan, even though the payor remained the same. I brought a copy of the insurance card with me and notified the front desk about my new insurance and asked if they are in-network. They told me they accepted it and everything was fine. Luckily, I only had a basic cleaning and no other services. A few months later I received a bill from the office for about $200-$300 for that visit and when I asked them about it, they told me my insurance is out of network with them and that they told me "they accept the insurance," not that they are in-network with it and the out of network cost is around $200-$300 for that cleaning and there was nothing they could do about it since they already told me "they accept the insurance and I should have known the difference between accepting an insurance versus being in-network. That's quite deceitful. I've been a patient at other dental offices and medical practices and when I present my insurance card, they will honestly let me know if it's in network or not and they don't practice clandestine acts like this office. I'd rather they tell me upfront that it's not in-network and let me know that there would be costs associated with being out of network instead of saying "we accept this insurance." My advice is to not trust this office even if they tell you it's in network because it might not be true and double check with your insurance. FYI, they also use paper charts which is archaic in the setting of current medical EHR technology. Consider all the other dental clinics in the Aldie area, they are much better and wished I had left this one sooner.

I adore this dentist. Every time I come here, Dr. Nikta is thorough with her work. She truly seems…read moreto care about her patients and it shows in her demeanor. The front desk woman and the dental assistants are also very professional and kind. I actually enjoy coming here for my cleanings! The atmosphere is also very clean, calm, and pleasantly decorated. When you're sitting down for your treatments, they always have the windows open for a beautiful view of outside, and a TV with soothing music and imagery to look at. I live in MD now and still choose to drive 50+ miles to come here rather than find another dentist because they're just that good. Dr. Nikta is a sweetheart and I'd highly recommend them for dental care. I have no plans to change dentists just because my experiences here have always been consistently pleasant.

Although we had active insurance, we were still sent a bill. When we contacted the office for clarification, the front desk staff were not helpful and came across as rude and dismissive in their responses. Each time we asked why our insurance had not been applied, we were repeatedly told that updated insurance information should have been provided at check-in, even though we had already submitted it. When we tried to understand the situation, our concerns were not properly addressed and the communication felt unprofessional. We then contacted our insurance company directly, and they confirmed that no claim had initially been submitted by the office. The insurance company later handled the matter, and the claim was processed, resulting in a zero balance. We hope the office improves its billing procedures and front desk communication, as this experience did not reflect the quality of care provided by the dentist.

Joanne is why I come to Smiles. She is my dental hygienist and SO MUCH MORE. When I call I make…read moresure I see her, and honestly any dentist is fine. I mean the dentist just comes in for like 3 minutes at the end. My sister and brother also see Joanne, she is our favorite. She got me on a waterpik, and she encouraged me to move my Invisalign treatment. I started my treatment in SF and moving to VA during the pandemic. I didn't know I could move treatment. I kept telling me ortho in SF I moved and they kept seeing me virtually and sending me trays. They didn't tell me I could transfer!!!! Thank goodness of Joanne. I am seeing Kravis in SR. He seems smart but I have no idea what is going on since he doesn't explain anything to me. I went twice and called in trying to get answers. Finally I just moved up my cleaning appointment just so I could see Joanne. I told her about my ortho treatment and she explained why she thinks Kravis is taking me off plastic trays and moving to a metal hawley retainer. She is amazing. I love her!

To this day I have never heard back and stopped going to them.
