Went to Aldi today. Shelves were relatively bare. This isn't the first time that shelves were bare on the start of a sale. Bought a few items...and was charged twice for a dozen eggs. Not worth going back for 1.17. Ended up going to Pete's to finish shopping. Aldi on Ardmore seems to be going downhill. read more

We've been going to the Aldi at Roosevelt/Ardmore for years. Recently, though, it feels as if we are shopping somewhere in rural Russia. Large sections of the shelves are bare (and have been for months) and we can't find even the most basic items. So we have no choice to go elsewhere for things such as sour cream, chicken breasts et al. What little we would have saved is more than offset by the time and frustration of having to go to Jewel or Pete's. The staff is nice enough but they are obviously stressed and don't smile much. The place is dingy - even after the "remodel" last year. We find ourselves making excuses to go to Jewel instead - especially when they offer chicken breasts, fruit, salmon and other items at a deep discount even to Aldi's prices. The hit or miss experience makes us stop only if it is convenient and only if we are in pinch. Otherwise, they've lost us as customers, I'm sorry to say. read more

I haven't been to this Aldi for quite some time due to health problems. I was shocked when I went in yesterday. Half of the aisles were missing. The baking aisle was so abbreviated as to be useless. No spices? None, whatsoever. wanted some tomatoes, again none. Gruyere cheese used to be reasonable, it was cheaper at Pete's and that's saying something. I picked up a few things (which ended up costing $50), and on the whole, I don't think I'll ever go back. The only improvement was the self-check. What a shame. read more

I love this place for it's simplicity at best. I wish it were open later. That's okay though. Prices rock. We usually buy the wise owl white wine, chicken breast, and produce. The cashiers are nice and quick. Yes there usually is one lane open and a line. I don't mind. The savings make up for it. There are plenty of specialty cheeses and deli meats to choose from. I don't know why I avoided Aldi so much. Probably because whenever I went in there I saw women with their hair did, nails did, latest iPhone model in their hand pulling up in their Range Rover with their 5 babies and pulling out their damn link cards, yea now I remember, that's why. SMH!! Lately though, I've been shopping there like it's no one's business. At first the only thing I would run in there for is a box of ramen. I mean for no more than $4 you get 12 packs of those delicious soups and well, lets be hones, that used to be my dinner for 12 whole days. ;) I mean seriously, who doesn't love ramen noodles?! Those purchases were a no brainer. After a while though, I started noticing staple items were much more inexpensive than at the "big stores". Butter, milk, yogurt, dressing, chips, soda, macaroni, frozen items and even some produce. So I started picking those up as well. Then I discovered their 7 or 8 oz filet mignons for $1.49. My dad had grilled them up one afternoon and after tasting them I was hooked!! Let me tell you, for a 1.49, these little filets pack big flavor, I can't complain about the quality. So needless to say, I buy them frequently now. For the money you spend at the "big stores" I guarantee you can buy twice as much, if not more, at Aldi. The funny part is that the only thing that's different is the packaging. Obviously they're not going to have specialty items but like I said, for staple items Aldi is the place to go. You might also find something in there that you never know they had. Two things to keep in mind. 1. Be sure to bring your own grocery bags, or you can grab one of their boxes too because they don't provide bags for you. 2. They do not take credit cards, cash or debit only. Nice Aldi that recently went thru one of their signature re-vamps. I hit this one up since it was on the way home from another store. I got everything I needed, so the store was well stocked, but DAMN did that parking lot give me anxiety!! It's a very busy L-shaped lot so it felt like there was so much confusion going on between drivers and patrons walking into the store. In the store, there a was a bit of that same vibe- people were abandoning carts and cutting other customers off while inside. I've definitely been in more calm Aldi's in my life, but it got the job done. Props to them for opening another cashier, even though the lines weren't terrible to begin with! read more

I love Aldi, I truly do. Organi foods and produce at reasonable prices make me swoon. Add in large bagels and loafs of multigrain bread for under $2 each and I continue to flock to their aisles on a weekly basis. This Aldi is further from me than my normal Aldi, but I really liked the layout of this one. Cashiers were friendly and helpful, as per usual. I will continue to be an Aldi fan. I just always have to remember my quarter for the cart as well as bags. Lots and lots of reusable bags! read more

I love these markets, not a big place but there sure is a lot stocked on the shelves. The prices are lower than most of the big named stores some of common items like milk run about the same price as the big stores or just a bit lower. The thing is at Aldis it's usually go in-get it and pay-get out. Most people in line will let you jump in when you only have one item. I know I will let you in front of me if I see you standing there with just a 1/2 gal of milk. This store is putting up signs letting you know they're going to be remodeling soon, no date yet that I've seen but no worries the store stays open & you'll hardly notice. ALDI is awesome. Pure and simple. The vast majority of my household staples come from ALDI. I've rarely had anything from here that was bad, and their return policy is generous: you get your money back and a new product. My staples here: 1. Bailey's knock off Irish cream 2. All baking supplies. I actually prefer their chocolate chips. 3. Almond milk 4. Eggs 5. Canned tuna 6. Oatmeal 7. Pasta sauce (the kind without HFCS) 8. Sugar-free coffee creamer 9. Bleach 10. Food storage bags 11. Salad 12. Whatever produce is on sale 13. Canned beans and tomatoes 14. Cheese 15. Frozen chicken breasts 16. Spicy brown mustard 17. Spinach 18. Pickles Also, the food is slowly starting to get labels for gluten free, lactose free and vegan. Very smart, Aldi people. Remember, bring your own shopping bags and a quarter for the cart. One area for improvement, and this applies to all aldi locations, some items just seem to places WHEREEVER, without regard to what's around it. Can make it really confusing. Ten years ago, you could not drag me into an Aldi because their selection was junk. Cheap, but junky nonetheless. Within the last two years, I feel the QUALITY of the selection has increased a tremendous amount. And, it's still cheap! Nowadays I hardly ever shop anywhere else. I am glad I have an Aldi so close to where I live. It is a very primitive shopping experience in a way. There is no greeter, you don't have 500 varieties of peanut butter to choose from, and there are usually not hoards to people to squeeze by through the aisles. Aldi is my kind of place. You walk in and everything is straight up. The item is there, always easy to read the price, and you are backed up by the Aldi double guarantee. You walk up and down each aisle like a maze, which is what I do is stores anyway, pick what you want and get out. They have a lot of good quality groceries for cheap prices. The only downsides are that you need to have a quarter on you to borrow a cart, there are usually long lines at checkout, and they only take cash and debit cards, no credit. Other than those easily overlooked obstacles, Aldi is where its at. read more

Great experience! Used their online services, and picked up my groceries! Carmen came out quickly with my groceries, and put them in my trunk! I didn't even have to get out of my car! Groceries were packed better then I could do! All the frozen together, eggs on top, produce all in one bag! I will definitely use this service again! read more

Take extra precautions while shopping here. Heavy set white cashier here is very rude. She NOT even had a face mask or a gloves on, advising customers what to do. She thinks she has a medical degree to advice about this virus which we all are so stressed out with it. She doesn't think she has a job - a work because the people are coming here to shop. At least not to be so rude. If you hate your work you find a different place to work - if you hate shopping here find a different store to shop which I already did. read more

I was really excited to try this Aldi because of the glowing reviews....ehhh, it was OK. We stopped by right before closing on a Wednesday night and the place was trashed. Stuff was everywhere. I still found what I was looking for but it seemed unusual to have stuff thrown all over the place. I did score some AWESOME looking strawberries though (big as your fist!). This Aldi seems to be a tad bigger than most locations which was cool. I still think I will keep going to the location in Glen Ellyn as it is tidier. read more

I have shopped here a couple of times now. Overall , am not very pleased with the experience. The fresh produce section wasn't well stocked on most occasions. Items in the fruits section looked stale , some seemed like leftovers/discards. Wasn't able to find some of the items on my monthly grocery list (things like plain yogurt ...). They don't accept credit cards , debit and cash only. They have a pretty decent selection of breads and frozen items though. The only upside to shopping here is that it's close to where i live. To sum it up , I would only shop at this place if my regular grocery store/supermarket is closed. read more

I appreciate all of the advertising Aldi is currently doing to lure people to shop there. In having Celiac and how Aldi advertises, it peaked my interest that Aldi's is supposed to have an "extensive" selection of Gluten Free products. The whole experience from beginning to end was very "unpleasant and frustrating." I understand that to deliver low costs to its customers some food shopping amenities are paired down, no problem. But I had no idea as to how their shopping experience was structured (ie.carts, layout of store, no credit cards - never use my debit card as a debit card). I did not understand the cart thing and how it operated, did not understand that if you were looking for anything gluten free it was mixed throughout the store (not very convenient) and the store employees especially at check out were rude and not very helpful. When I went to grab a cart from the end of the check out line, I was told the cart was the hers/cashier and she asked me if I needed change...change for what I kept on asking?? She did not extend the courtesy as to ask..is this your first time shopping with us, please let me explain. Two cashiers, no service or information...like robots. Will never go back again. I am in advertising/marketing and i have been helping clients in all ways, especially in building "Brand Identity." I would recommend you take some of the profits that you make off of the minimal services you offer to your customers and invest in a good Marketing Mgr.. Commercials are great, but it is what you do on the ground and in the stores that promotes and brings customers in. read more

Watch your interaction at checkout! The boy checking my groceries was more concerned with his break than making sure he didn't cancel out my SNAP card! Long story short, his manager had to return everything, Then rung me up again without so much as apology for the mistake! I've been using my SNAP CARD for over two years and I always use it FIRST! They accused me of not swiping it before my debit! Never again! This is why I like the self serve stations instead!!! read more
