There's a halal butcher and just a plain butcher, about which as a vegetarian I can tell you nothing, a bakery, and a Latin American and Indian mini-cafe. The produce section is very crowded (and offers a wild variety with some excellent specials), and the endcaps on the aisles extend into the aisle, meaning in several places there's only room for one cart and you'll have to excuse yourself to get where you're going. Be prepared. I was impressed by their selection of organic spices and they also had some organic Asian noodles (buckwheat and soba). They also have a good selection of Latin American groceries, including huancaina sauce from Peru (yes!), frozen plantains and Guarana soda. I've seen larger selections of Indian and Eastern European products at dedicated specialty groceries, but no one else in the area carries it all. Many, many different types of flatbread and a wide selection of Middle Eastern sweets; various dry pulses; various types of candy; pearled farro and more versions of burek than I've seen before, including a "vegan be'f". The Indian mini-cafe is half vegetarian, half non; the Latin American one has various kinds of filling in carbs, and if you're vegetarian, all they have is cheese - though the fried corn-dough empanada, cheese in an eggroll like wrapper and pastelito (cheese in pastry) offered various textural delights. This is a haul for me, and I usually try to avoid I-59 but this place might be worth a special trip.

Michelle is incredibly knowledgeable and loves sharing recipe ideas and pairing suggestions, and I appreciate that you can sample many of the products before buying. There are so many different olive oil and balsamics that it can be hard to choose, but I love that Michelle often has samples prepared of interesting ways to use the unique flavors. Windy Acres is currently selling produce from Florida as it's too early to get Illinois produce, but it will come eventually (they sell at the Wheaton market as well). And Hahn's Bakery vends here, which is enough of a reason to make the trip, though their selection is much smaller than it is in Wheaton, where they have a double booth. I'm a vegetarian so I can't speak to the quality of the meat from the straight-from-the-farmer butcher, but the eggs are really good. If the Cheese People sold here, it would be just about perfect. There are also a couple of non-food stands that seem to be rotating in and live music. Parking's easy and I can get in and out, which during a pandemic is a great thing. Also, the pond is really lovely later in the year when all the water lilies are blooming. It's a nice stop early in the morning, topped off perhaps by a trip to nearby downtown Lisle to get a croissant and maybe some gelato.

I loved the gorgeous fruit and veggies, and the owner was as nice as the pie I was dying to make out of some of those fruits I just mentioned! The quality definitely looks organic/real, although I don't know or care if it's certified as such. The real test for me isn't whether something has that little sticker, but whether it's an odd shape and looks like it will actually have flavor. I was raised in a state without a ton of local produce (deserts, man) and thought I hated tomatoes until I left and realized that they don't have to be pink and kind of flavorless. If you live in Hinsdale or nearby, this place is definitely worth a visit!
