This is the email I sent to several heads at corporate. it should suffice as a proper REAL unpaid review. Hi. My name is -. I'm a customer that has been shopping at Aldi for over ten years. I have used mostly store - since it first opened in my neighborhood. It's not just me but my entire family has shopped there. Recently my sister has begun to use Trader Joes more because of how one of the employees of this store treated her. Coldly, not rudely but it was enough to leave a bitter experience. She still shops at Aldi when convenient however. Sometimes the produce is not so fresh, sometimes it's so bad that I have to return it, but the prices are cheap and I have saved a lot of money shopping here so I let it slide. Here's where the problem is. I personally do not believe in self checkout. I'm a capitalist. My time is money. For one or two things I'm fine with it. But when it's a large purchase or when I'm having a bad morning and just want to have an employee take care of the matter, I should be able to use the register. Usually I do. Even if I'm not paying cash. Employees at Aldi for the past 6 years have been mostly accommodating. Today however I had a terrible morning. Traffic was a mess. My mother is sick. I had to ask leave from work. And on my way home from dropping my kid off in school I wanted to buy a few things so I passed by my usual Aldi store. When I went to the register to make my purchase the young man there told me that the register was for cash only. Like I said I don't believe in working for free and to me that's what Self check out is. I will not be working for your company for free. Still I went to self check out because it was only 3 items anyway. However I was still frustrated because the young man could have easily taken care of me. It was 9 in the morning and no one was in the lines. I was his only customer. I was already on edge and this cold treatment when he could have easily taken care of me annoyed me furthered so I told him "you're going to make your costumer work for free?" He shrugged coldly and said "sorry" or "okay" with such a snarky tone. he might as well have said "wtv bish" ...like it mattered little to him, and I went to the self check out with my mother. As she did the self check out because it doesn't bother her as much, I said out loud for anyone to hear, "You need more employees. I'm a capitalist. Not a f-ing slave." Yes I used the f word. But I never attacked or insulted the employee and despite my disgruntlement I was still making the purchase. Until the employee went on the microphone and announced to the entire store to hear (there were a few shoppers around, just none at the lines): "There is a lady here being vulgar and cursing at me." And he did this twice. "She's so Vulgar and using curse words at me" He didn't bother to help me. No empathy. No connection. No help. Now he wanted to notify everyone that somehow he was a victim here? I wasn't being aggressive or mean or personally attacking anyone. I was just a complaining and moody. Was he trying to get security to kick me out? Why did he try to gaslight the other shoppers and employees that he was being victimized by me and trying to vilify me? It was disgusting. I was annoyed before, but after that I felt so much rage and disgust. It was such a horrible experience I don't ever want to return. I told my mother to leave the items. Then I told the employee that we will not be shopping there again. All he said was "okay" coldly and shrugged. I added that I've been shopping at Aldi for 10 years and that the company lost a customer permanently. Again, the employee just shrugged it off coldly. I walked out and drove to Publix to make my Purchases. And in two days when I have to make a large purchase for my household that will probably cost over $200 to $300, (what I spend every two to three weeks) I will be using Publix or Trader Joe's. I'm no longer shopping at Aldi. Neither is my mother or any other of my family members and their households. we're done being treated like we have no value to you. I wasn't my best today, maybe even went a little Karen. But is wasn't that bad. One little F bomb and it wasn't even directed at the employee and he had to announce to the world what a poor little victim he was instead of just letting it be and letting me complain about the self check out? What can I say I really DO NOT believe in it. not for me. And he could easily have taken care of my purchase or at the very least let me complain but he had to make my experience WORSE than it already was juts so secure his own ego. I made small purchases frequently and big purchases one or twice a month there for the last 6 or 7 years - since they opened. plus I've been going to other stores before that. I must have spent tens of thousands of dollars or more in that company. to be treated like this? Nah. Bye. read more

I am a fan of Aldis - as everyone should know by now, as I used to Live in Munich, Germany. I was disappointed in this store though as the fresh produce - was not fresh at all, everything looked sad and wilting, so I did not purchase anything there. I do however like to get some particular German products - ie their chocolate (always good) and their German pork Schnitzel. read more

I was going to rate only 3 stars but Travis's phenomenal customer service warranted a higher rating. I was surprised to see that the majority of the registers are now self checkout. The one and only register was manned by Travis and had a sign that said cash only or large Instacart order of 40 or more items only. With this change, Aldi is forgetting the elderly and special needs community that may need assistance. Not everyone is able to scan their own groceries, read and follow instructions on the screen, etc. Luckily they hired a competent employee that not only took care of his register but also answered questions and assisted all the people at the self checkout registers that needed help. read more

Five years have passed since my first review...I will not return to this location. The manager and cashier are horrible. Cashier was disrespectful throughout my transaction. The manager mocked me and smirked as the cashier continued to verbalize negativity. At the end of my cash transaction, she owed me $12.34..she gave me $12.35...then ranted about giving her the penny back..the manager stood there and did nothing...I gave ALDI their penny because I guess they need it. I told the manager that I planned to report the cashier's behavior and his behavior to the corporate office. He said go ahead as I walked out of the store...headed back to Publix where customers are valued. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would based on lack of accommodation for handicapped customers. I am on a walker and can only walk for short distances. The other foot has a torn tendon and I am in a lot of pain. I also have to hold on to the walker so where am I going to put my groceries? I saw no electric scooters nor wheelchairs or wheelchair baskets anywhere. I asked a cashier where they were and I was told the one scooter is out of service and they have no wheelchair not attachment for one. They have 2 posters at the entrance regarding handicapped costumers stating if you need help, let them know. Another poster regarding inclusivity, equality and racism. I asked to speak to the manager (who did not have a name tag, but was Latino ) who informed me the scooter broke down yesterday and he has to put a report for service for it and they only have one scooter. I pointed out the posters regarding ADA and stating to ask for help and how this is a form of discrimination and how am I supposed to get my groceries? he just shrugged his shoulders and said 'I don't know what to tell you, it's not working'. I couldn't believe my ears.. no offer to get my groceries, no suggestion for any type of help or solution, no concern whatsoever, not even a coupon or gift card to make up for this. No concern nor empathy for the handicapped. Terrible culture towards customer service especially those who need help. I will never step in this Aldi again. read more

I'm stressed. But, it's ok. The cashiers are super fast so you have to keep up with them. They are just pumping the customers out all the time. I love finding good deals here. Veggie and deli meats are great. But Churrasco and Salmon are the BEST! I feed 3 people a gourmet meal on one $9 salmon filet. Not to mention the seasonal stuff. I got all sorts of gardening decor today. The price really beats home improvement stores, wow! Bring your bags and a quarter for the cart!! European style groceries stores are the bomb! read more

I reviewed Aldi a few years ago, and they have really improved since then. The produce is great, and I love being able to get marinated chicken when I'm in a hurry. Their bagged salads are really good and reasonable. They always have interesting and special seasonal items. The best thing, though, is it's about 20% cheaper than Publix without sacrificing quality. The only down-side is they don't have all the name brand items I need. However, if you're going to buy pet food at a pet store and toiletries at Walgreens (located next-door) that's helpful. read more

I like this apt because they have great wine at an affordable price with the perfect crunchy snacks to accompany it. The produce is hit or miss but usually I notice it's sold at its prime so your immediate usage of such is quite pivotal in efforts to decrease the whole "Hey, I see you wilting in my fridge but I'm not ready for you yet" ordeal. I somehow always fall for that aisle of miscellaneous outdoor goods but since this place is always a score, I usually end up winning. Thankfully, I brought a quarter for my cart and those reusable grocery bags fully everting my millennial powers. I wiSh they had more of a variety in the deli meat but the cereal and nuts made up for it. It's quite inexpensive shopping here so it's great for larger famIlies searching for a bargain. I try picking up something new each time to broaden my palette. Overall, it's a solid choice for variable tastings for an economical price. read more

I'm usually not a fan of discount stores, but the savings at aldi are monumental. Same brand of organic milk as Publix is 45% cheaper. Eggs, butter & cheese are ridiculously inexpensive. I love ALDI. This place has much cheaper prices compared to most grocery stores and I always have a pleasant grocery shopping experience whenever I visit. ALDI is definitely missing a good amount of products, but the good prices of the things they do have make up for it. My favorite things to buy here are the fresh fruits and vegetables. The produce is always fresh and at a great price. I also really love the garlic flavored pita chips that they have here. Great price and goes well with cheese. They have a good selection of baked goods and meat too. I'll continue to come to Aldi for their good quality food products and great prices. I'd definitely recommend coming here! read more

Its a good place, my mom and I come here every week. However, there needs to be way more employees that speak english, the employees that work at this Aldis either dont speak english at all or barely do. Some of the cashiers instantly start speaking spanish to you because they just assume you do to. Just because its miami doesnt mean everyone here speaks spanish. A few times my mom needed help with the merchandize, none of the employees helped her because they didnt know english or just chose not to speak it. read more

I've been shopping at this Aldi since it opened and so far have only experienced great quality at amazing prices. Bought a loaf of bread for $0.79 the other day (and no it wasn't crap bread either, it was delicious and fresh). It's not a large place so if you can't figure out the organization or assembly of the items then you might have a bigger problem. Very clean place, not chaotic or crowded like Publix or Trader J's. Great price for bottled water, but as others have already said, it is near impossible to find anything. I didn't find the store to be dirty, but because of all of the boxes, it didn't look as clean as it should. Great prices, good selection and a friendly staff. I used to always go to Publix four times a week until I found Aldi's. They have about 90% to 95% of what I need. First I was skeptical because some of the brands are offbrands so being skeptical I had to try them and found that they are pretty much the same if not exactly the same as the brand names at Publix. If you get here early they have a wide selection of vegetables and fruit ( even some organic produce) at a very discounted price. But like I said get there early because people will come in and buy up all the good deals. Now I only go to publix when they don't have something in particular I need. Let's get this out of the way: finding what you're looking for can be hit or miss, I suggest going early before everything gets picked over. You have to bring your own grocery bags or pay a nominal amount to purchase bags. You need a quarter for your cart which you will get back upon returning your cart. You will have to bag your own groceries. It may or may not have everything you're looking for depending on your needs. You don't have 50 different brands to choose from for any given item. It's a no frills shopping experience. But if you're willing to deal with all of the above, I can promise you that you won't find better prices anywhere. Where else can you get a carton of blackberries for 99 cents? The produce is fresh too. This grocery store by far offers the best bang for your buck. I've tried their frozen food as well as it's just as good as Publix's frozen foods. If you see something you want, grab it because it might to be there the next time you go. I love Aldi. I'll only ever go to Trader Joe's, Publix, or Whole Foods if I need to pick up something they don't sell here. read more

This particular location does not do good with Veggies and Fruits, a lot of the stuff needs to be checked and dispose of bad items that you can clearly see as you walk by if the employees pay attention. I do think the Cutler Bay is better at this s. Items that are not "fresh" are a great buy, canned goods, most of the dairy, cereals, chips and snacks, Excellent buy! Only rating 2 Stars because they need to try better with the produce section. It's a good variety but it's either already going bad or is bad 2 days after bringing it home. Update The store is getting much better since my last review. The staff is keeping up with the restocking and produce is in mbetter shape. Low on Cashiers always, the try to place back ups when lines are long. I sent an email to Corporate maybe someone actually read it or others made complaints too. I've been to Aldi twice. Their produce and their snacks (chips & chocolate) are reasonably priced. I bought a bag of green apples, 3 bags of carrots, 2 bunches of celery, cauliflower, a bag of kale, and various other items for around $50. It's a good place to buy fruits & vegetables for juicing. They have chips from 79 cents to $1.99. You save around 50 cents per bag. Everything, expect the freezer items, is in boxes. Carts are 25 cents but you get your money back when you return your cart. They don't have shopping bags so bring your own. They have a long counter behind the cashiers for you to pack your groceries. They open at 9 am on Mondays to Saturdays and 10 am on Sundays. read more

Aldi is a great place. Ever since it showed up in Miami, I having been slowly replacing it over Publix. Aldi has better prices. And it's brand is very comparable to the Publix brand (if not better). Sometimes there are long lines due to the fewer checkouts. And the 25 cents shopping carts takes some getting used to. But again, if it's about saving money while not sacrificing quality, then Aldi deserves your consideration. read more

I doubt any other grocery store can beat the "bang for your buck" that you can get at Aldi. They may not have a great selection, but the prices on all the basic staples (eggs, milk, deli, items, salad, condiments, cleaning/laundry supplies, etc) are amazing considering many of the items are organic and all are top quality. I mean when eggs were close to $3 at your local grocery store, Aldi was selling them for $1.29. Bags of fresh Italian blend salad 49 cents, ok you get it, they are worth the drive for the basics but you won't find everything on your grocery list. They also offer seasonal items at excellent prices and other little seasonal knick knacks and household items. Customer service is also top notch and the store is always immaculate. My one main gripe is that the lines do tend to be long but I've made longer lines at Costco or BJs. If you've never been, I would recommend checking it out. read more

I absolutely love grocery stores and this one is winning my heart! It's a small location but they have a nice variety of everything you need from condiments to snacks to toys to toiletries. The prices here are absolutely insane, it makes you think you're buying something expired or something but you'd be wrong. Almost everything is organic, GMO free, or gluten free. Sometimes all 3. Try grocery shopping here at least once, it'll cut that bill by more than half for most of your items! They don't have shopping bags however you can buy paper bags for 6 cents or plastic Alid bags for 10 cents. The shopping carts are all locked up and to get one, you insert a quarter and when you go back to return it they also return your quarter. Interesting concept! Overall a great place I'll definitely be shopping here regularly. read more

Ugh. Meh. Thought it would be a good idea to try out the new Aldi's. Realized it was a huge mistake right after entering. Zero organization. The first aisle is filled with cardboard boxes of snacks, mixed with a few other unrelated items. None of the aisles are labeled, which is probably good because there is no rhyme or reason to the random assemblage of goods. Universal remote controls next to oatmeal next to tampons. Just weird. Went through the produce section, and nothing really looked super fresh. The red meats were pinkish and unappealing. Checkout lines were long, and watching the system for the cashiers was painful. If an item didn't scan, they literally got on a walkie talkie to work through putting the item in the system, which took a good two minutes. Only two checkout lines were open and people were struggling to figure out who was next in line. You have to pay for your own grocery bags (at 10 cents a piece, but still). They do not accept credit cards. I would have given only one star but there were some good deals there. Milk is inexpensive at 2.49 and some snacks and such for the kids were off brands, but less than usual. Think Big Lots for groceries. That being said, there is no way to do your weekly shopping here. They don't have the selection that Publix has, and you can't just run in for a quick something or other. Parking was horrendous before Aldi's opened and now is much worse. I know better now. Don't think this place has enough going for it to survive. read more

My wife and I love Aldi's , It's a adventure every time you go ! We like that they carry the freshest produce in the area at the best prices (moth of the time). As for everyone's negative comments below , I don't think the understand the store . NO its NOT Public's or Winn Dixie . It different that's what make it ! Every time we go there is new and exciting food that the above store would never carry and if you don't get it then it may not be there again . That's what the store does in our eye's , they but excellent quality products at a great price pass and it on to us . DIRTY, SMELLY, brands I have never heard of, uninviting, disorganized, aisles not labeled (which supermarket doesn't label aisles), they don't accept credit cards, and the customer has to pay for shopping carts AND shopping bags.
