We have been eagerly awaiting Aldi in California! We moved here 6 years ago and had Aldi withdrawal. Chicagoland loves ALDI and anytime I go home for a visit to family and friends I also visit Aldi. I live in Coronado but happily drive the hour and a half to the new Aldi Southern California locations. All of Aldi's products are excellent quality and they have a wonderful selection of healthy foods as well. Even way back... They were the first to have hormone free milk and yogurt and butter. Now they have a good selection of organic. No MSG or artificial colors. Aldi is under the same parent company as Trader Joes. You all love their store brand products so be open minded and give Aldi a try. You know they probably are made by a name brand but the box is different. It is so organized. It's German = Efficient! There are never more than about two employees in an Aldi. Not needed. Low prices come with simplicity. I don't know what all the complaints about the bagging system and counter are for.? You buy a couple bags and reuse them or bring your own. They move super quick and toss them in the cart (I'm from Chicago and we like speed) and you roll on over to the counter where you can take your time and organize everything so that putting groceries away at home is simple. I hate the way baggers bag! If you have a young child you just hand them a box of crackers and let them munch while you get organized. Don't let your kids stand on the counter and run around :( Also, they always feature a couple aisles of seasonal specials and what not. The products are usually of very good quality. Patio umbrellas and fans that work forever or pool toys, coolers and fry pans... It's always a surprise. Actually it will be featured in the flyer too but FUN! We will be moving to Big Sur area next and I sure do hope Aldi will get up there soon or I will be making them part of my Southern California visits too. I Love Aldi! BTW Buy their CHOCOLATE! What a fantastic store! I originally came from a state with a lot of stores in the area so, you can come to my surprise and excitement when I heard about Aldi coming to California. A few things here regarding some "little" issues 1) yes the quarter idea may seem "stupid" but it's quite usable for not getting there carts stolen and saving a quarter each time. If you go once a week to the store it's saving $1 a month or $12 a year! 2) yes it did seem "busy" but it was/is? still a new store, it is a new concept to a lot of people who never really have heard of the store but, it's now almost June and typically if you time your trips to the store, (like every other store out there...) you can go during the quiet slower times because of it. On average around 5-7:30 pm on weekdays were my "slow" times and it was pretty neat how fast the trip went. 3) people are complaining about the bringing your own bag or buying paper or plastic ones for around 10-15 cents a bag but honestly i'll give you the biggest secret ever..., you can literally take the boxes that shelve the items in them(if they are empty)! No joke i have seen metal containers full of empty boxes. You're allowed to take as many as you want as a way of reusing. If you can't reach for any reason that may be, then ask someone to help you! 9 out of 10 times they were willing to hand you a few boxes and what not. 4) i'll start off with a personal opinion. I have seen someone write on this review page that the workers are less than 99 cent workers? I'm sorry but that is totally ridiculous to think or assume that. The cashier may look like they are "tossing" your items into the basket but guess what? it's called being efficient in their jobs! Now i'm not too sure if they still follow the same policy with paying with the stores in different states but they pay their cashiers MORE than minimum wage and with it goes to prove that they are trained to be quick, friendly, kind and, EFFICIENT workers... 5) yes it may look small but again, i'm from a state were Aldi is popular and compared to the ones I've seen it is a pretty big store. No they don't have name brand foods but they do that to keep the prices down in cost without ruining the quality of the goods. I'll agree a deli or bakery would be nice but i'm a simple man and I still think it's great. 6) Finally with ending it the review i say to everyone give this store a chance and take this review/opinion with a grain of salt. Yeah I can't force everyone to like anything they don't like but i was getting tired of poor judgement calls because some people are little too lazy or don't care enough to try anything more than once. I really don't under how many bad reviews there is! This is the best thing to come to Moreno Valley. I've always had a bad experience at Walmart and Stater Bros. Aldi is very clean, the prices are unbeatable, the employees are always so nice. I purchased quite a few items that probably would have been $60 elsewhere and got them for $30!! I'm never shopping anywhere else for my groceries! This is my new favorite store! read more

I really enjoy Aldi. The customer service is excellent, it's always clean and organized and they have a wonderful variety. And if I forget a quater they've given me one to borrow. However, I've recently been disappointed twice now, I've brought home bad produce (slimy packaged cucumbers, peaches that split the next day and nats came out, bagged apples that we all bruised and mushy where they rested against each other so I didn't see-similar for strawberries that were moldy). They let you exchange, but I'd rather get the produce where I haven't had that experience. I will return, but will not be buying much produce and if I do-it will not be bagged/packaged for hidden surprises. read more

It is a German based company but is in several counties worldwide . I have found although it does not compare in variety to larger grocery stores I feel there are a pretty good amount of choices considering the size of the store . My experience has been positive in trying the products with name brands that I don't recognize, the name brands are well known brands somewhere in the world just not here and for example I tried all the snacks that I normally buy and they were the same quality at at least half the price , and some were not the same but nevertheless very good . I'm sure in time that there will be some I will not like , but that can happen in any store ( with maybe sometimes store brands ) I have been happy with all the Simply Nature , Benton , Millville brands . I will not be shopping here again after what I witnessed this morning. I watched as a personal shopper (a company that shops for and delivers groceries to the customers house) asked the store manager for help finding an item and he looked her in the face and said he wasn't going to help her cause she gets paid to do what she does and he was not gonna help her do her job and he walked away. What a disgrace for a store manager. She's just as much a customer as anyone else. They still get paid for the groceries she delivers and they don't pay her salary out of their pocket!! Until this man is fired, I will not be shopping there and I will be telling everyone I know not to shop there anymore. I'M DISGUSTED!! I love this aldi the costumer service is very friendly. and the reason why they put quarter in cart is because they don't want there carts stolen. you can get your quarter back its not like that quarter is gone forever. and the prices here are amazing. It has a lot people but it's not as bad as 99 cent store. And if you do not have a bag you have look for boxes too put your groceries in. or pay a small fee for bags. You can Even use bags from home. And for the costumer care I think they all are very friendly. read more

I guess I was expecting not only a bigger selection, but better prices. Compared to Winco Foods down the street, Aldi is a huge disappointment. I walked the asiles looking for crackers and other snack items that I could use, but only find a small section and not many choices, other than a few flavors of the same type of cracker. Winco is better for both selection and prices! read more

I always go to Aldi first before other stores to see what I can get and at what price before moving on to.The only down side about Aldi is that they may not have what you purchased the last time as the inventory does change some times. read more

Horrible nightmare!! I went to this store yesterday because it's new and the wow omg excitement . This store is horrible . Where do I begin. First you have to pay to get a cart really?? I know it's only 25 cents but still. Next it's very crowed. The staff not friendly at all. No hello. How are you doing? Can I help you anything nothing sad. To top it all off. The prices aren't any different from target etc. like I heard or thought from others. Also the taste and quality of some of the food is bad. The fit and active egg whites aren't good. The clancy"s party mix taste horrible . Then to top it all off. The red potatoes that I got were green. Next you have to pay for a bag to bag your own groceries omg come on. Then they ask you to step aside to that wall area to bag them. I can't believe this. I'm still in shock over this . Low budget stores like el super , and food for less don't even charge for bags. I don't shop at either of those stores but just making a point. I will never shop here again. I don't see a store like this lasting to long out here.. read more

One of the worst places to shop. You have to give them a quarter to unlock the shopping carts. We don't carry change, not many people do. The guard lady at the carts is rude, can't even explain why the quarter, do you get it back, is it a way to just get more money? Not much in the store with brands that are known. I was skeptical at first, but after a few visits I love everything about Aldi. There aren't any loose carts in the parking lot; it's a breeze to zip through the smaller store layout; the brand knock-offs are cheaper and taste close enough; and no matter how busy the store is, I've never stood in line longer than five minutes. For someone who has to hit the grocery store once a week, Aldi is perfect. read more
