i purchased a J&J sugar free pumpkin pie from their ready to eat pie section by the bakery. thought it was going to be a healthier choice and it was just $1.98. brought it home and it took one day to defrost as it was frozen when i bought it. when i ate just one slice a day later around 8 pm i was stricken with severe stomach cramps and diarrhea within 2 hours that night. i thought the pumpkin tasted good but was watery and i think the pie crust was totally uncooked. the package had no instruction for baking so it should have been fine to eat. a day later i brought the balance of the unused pie back for a return. griselda looked at me like i was lying to her about the situation and i told her it was true and i just wanted my $1.98 back. it took her three tries to give me back my change, 1st .88, then .93 and then .87. i had to help her count out two dimes, three quarters and three pennies. really winco should do better if all they take is cash and they should pull this product off their shelf before others get sick, which to date the have not. read more

I'm very sad and disappointed. When i was growing up my mum would have a cheat day where we'd walk to WinCos to get 2 or 3 boxes of the unique styles of pizzas they sold. I just found out that it was discontinued and are now only selling pepperoni, cheese, and a deluxe option I really do hope they can bring back the unique customized options. I am an easy going person, but that lady that supposedly assists in the self check out is rude. I had more tham 10 Items and honestly didn't see the sign. I never buy more than 5 things and today I did. Well she held up the line just to argue with me on the 10 items or more issue. She argued for 10 minutes then proceeded to say I was being disrespectful for holding up the line. I responded and told her I didn't see the sign and she basically called me a liar. My apologies for having 10 items or more but I've been in customer service for over 20 years and that was not a way to resolve that issue and then gets all the other customers riled up. Some man says I was lying on not seeing the signs. Don't know who died and made him a psychic. In all honesty I did not see the sign. if I had I would have not got in that damn line. Wanted to shout out employee Isaac over in the frozen food department. Very helpful, kind and patient. I called on Friday afternoon from work. I wanted to know if there were any crawfish available. Isaac ran quick and checked. He said there were 7 bags. I asked if he could hold them Id be there after 10pm. He was completely polite and said that the area would be closed by 10. I don't live anywhere near the store anymore. My family lives in Moreno Valley and I wanted to order a sheet Cake. Winco has always been very convenient because it is 24 hours. I spoke to Emily in the bakery and it says I can place an order online for a cake that I need tomorrow, but there was no option to do so. She explained to me that there is no way of ordering over the phone or online even if it's paid for an advance. I explained to her that the drive would be about two hours and she said there was nothing she can do about that. Totally understandable, it's not her policy. I asked her what the chances are of me going early tomorrow to purchase a cake in person and she said the chances are very high. She was very Short in her responses and the responsibility of getting a cake for a party tomorrow was just put in my lap a few minutes ago, so the urgency of being able to purchase one is pretty high. Because she was not forthcoming, and her responses were made on a daily basis to give me a better understanding of whether or not I would be able to purchase one. She said they are made. I asked her what time they are usually made and put out for sale and she said she had no idea because she was a closer. I asked her what the chances are of being able to purchase a cake by walking in on a Saturday morning and she said she isn't sure because they don't make them every day. She literally just told me they made them on a daily basis. I asked if there was anyone else I could speak to that might have a little more information and she told me that she is the only one there. It's pretty wild to me that there was absolutely no way to get some very basic answers, not only from her, but that there was absolutely no interest on her part to perhaps ask someone else that might know a little bit more. I confirmed that she actually worked in the bakery. Very frustrating altogether. This is a giant store, and anytime that I have gone there in the last year, it seems like there are less and less employees available or interested in providing any form of customer service. I have been shopping at Winco's for about 7 years now and the price have been great but about a month ago my Wife and I were paying for our food and the checker was really talkative and polite. Well today we were in and we walked down an isle and Nathan greeted us and welcome us back to the store. He remembered talking to us at our last visit. I got to visit WinCo Foods for the first time recently and I really enjoyed it! This place is huge. It reminded me of a mini Costco. Well organized with a bakery area, frozen foods, deli, meat and canned goods. The prices were pretty unbeatable. Was it because of the area or are all WinCos this affordable?! The already made pizza dough, super cool and convenient!! Freshly made peanut butter on tap?! Amazing. I loved the peanut butter and would go back for this. Honey on tap. SPICES GALORE! Omg I found every spice I've ever heard of here. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the long check out lines. They have at least 12 cash registers and only 2 employees checking out customers. I guess they prioritize employees stocking shelves and walking around the store over checking people out at registers. I still really enjoyed shopping here! I have shopped at least 3-4 Winco stores and the one in Moreno Valley is disgraceful. The employees are rude, very incompetent and lazy. This was one of the worse supermarket experiences I have ever had.. I had one of the most frustrating and uncomfortable experiences at this WinCo location, and I feel compelled to share it -- not just because of poor customer service, but because of the dismissive, borderline discriminatory behavior I encountered. I was buying groceries for my elderly neighbor and picked up some pet items from the bulk section. At self-checkout, I was told I needed photos of the item tags -- fine, I went all the way back to get them. But the way it was phrased was unnecessarily rude and lacking any basic courtesy. A simple, "Hey, can you grab photos so we can ring these up?" would have gone a long way. I also picked up alcohol (for my neighbor), and the self-checkout attendant wouldn't process it -- again, fine, but then they just flat out ignored me and gave me attitude. So I got into the regular checkout line. That's where things really started to feel off. Despite having fewer items, I wasn't allowed to shift to a newly opened register -- but others were, and I couldn't help noticing that I (a Muslim shopper) and the shopper behind me (also visibly Muslim) were passed over while others were assisted. We were left waiting, while other customers with far more groceries were prioritized. That's a red flag. When I finally got to the front, they claimed the dog items couldn't be scanned even with the photos. Fine. I said just remove them -- but somehow, they could scan the pig ears? The same pig ears they just told me didn't have a price. It really made me question whether items were selectively processed, especially since the only one they were willing to scan is an item observant Muslims don't consume. I calmly tossed the item back -- not at the attendant -- and was met with hostility and loud accusations and Black Rage(opposite of White Privilege). I had to ask the employee multiple times to "adjust your attitude," and I had to repeat it even as I walked out the door. This experience was exhausting, unpleasant, and made worse by subtle -- but noticeable -- signs of bias. Whether it was intentional or not, the lack of professionalism and respect speaks volumes. I won't be returning, and I sincerely hope this store reviews its training and behavior standards. read more

Love this store. I like to do most of my grocery shopping here because of the variety of items they sell. Some hidden gems I recommend are: fried chicken wings (lemon pepper and sweet chipotle), bagels (herb and cheese, cheese), French bread, rib bone treats for your dog, and any meats (beef/chicken/beyond meat etc.). However, with some of the fruit you will have a hit or miss. I never get lucky with the watermelon or mangoes. I could go and on, but the highlight for me is being able to choose and dispense different types of grains, pasta, beans, rice, lentils, nuts, snacks, flour, protein powders, chocolate, candies, tea bags, loose tea, coffee beans/grounds, dog treats into plastic bags. You write the item # on the bag tie and that's it. PROS: no membership required, large selection of items CONS: Cash or debit card only, no credit cards. You also have to bag your own groceries. read more

I have been meaning to shine a light on the manager Jose I believe it was. I was in the store earlier that day 4 months ago and he helped me with a situation. I don't want people to scheme if I say the whole story and I don't want people taking advantage of the help I received. Was in the store in the summer and earlier that day I did something that was my fault but was an accident and Jose was so amazing to help to restore/help me w my issue. My daughter became sick in the middle of the night, they lock up the medicine aisle I guess after a certain hour I went to multiple gas stations all closed. Returned to winco asked an employee if they could grab me the medicine she said sure just let the cashier know and she will have someone unlock it. Went to the cashier (and older black women with blonde short hair) and she instantly got mad said nope not opening until 7am..now mind you the sign says aisle is closed until 6am..I explained to her the associate said it was fine..she continued to rant I don't know why she said ask me..you know I'm not opening it (her words)..luckily I found an open gas station on the 4th one..but honestly leaving a sick 7 year old to be sick is just inhumane..I don't know who the manager is but I would love to speak with him or her. read more

All grocery stores have their issues but I don't find better prices on most things than here at Winco. They have a large bulk bin section where I get my dogs their treats and various treats for me as well. They don't take credit cards and I usually don't carry my debit card because I'd rather deal with refusing to pay a bank than trying to get my money back from a bank, but it is one of the reasons their prices are so much lower because they don't have to pay the fees associated with credit cards. Another reason is that you bag your groceries yourself. That's why I recommend getting some grab bags. You can get them on Amazon, they clip to your cart and you can load your groceries right as they scan them in. I almost always finish before the person in front of me. I have had some cheese marked sharp that was mild and some sausage that wasn't cooled enough that was bad when I got it home, but if you shop anywhere enough you're bound to have an issue or two. If you're cheap like me, you'll like Winco. read more

My elderly mother and sister reported human feces in the soda aisle. My sister slipped on it and almost fell. It took the supervisor named Estevan almost an hour to address. When he did, no compassion, no empathy, no assistance in cleaning or providing supplies to clean, nothing. My mother asked for complimentary 5.00 slippers that were in a bin near by and he said, "it's not the stores fault". My mother then proceeded to purchase the slippers and he took them and said "it's fine we will take care of them" in a condescending tone and made a gesture to the cashier Viviana that expressed annoyance. Viviana then proceeded to treat my mother with plain disrespect. She rushed her purchase and was at the register acting rude and tapping her nails. When my mother left the store, she called me to share her unfortunate experience and I called the store. Viviana happened to answer the phone and I asked her, why the poor treatment of a loyal customer since the store opened and she hung up on me twice! I spoke with another supervisor named Kiana who was helpful in giving me the store managers name who I will be contacting in the morning. Completely disgusted in how the supervisor Estevan and the cashier Viviana treated my elderly mother and the time it took for them to sanitize and clean the floor. My mother directing traffic to avoid the feces on the floor and that is how they treat her. They are lucky nobody fell, otherwise it would have been a lawsuit.
