9/14/23 Mangoes bigger than Hubby's head....well not really but close! 0.39 cents each-what a steal!! Admittedly, I was just stopping by to use the facilities, thinking it was located towards the back of the store, that's where I gravitated. Saw the mangoes & I instantly bagged a few. Bagged avocados were $2.79 each, snatched a bag & now I regret not buying more. I couldn't stay long so I skedaddled when Hubby called and discovered the restrooms were at the front. Never underestimate a good deal Now I'm off to check out the fmr mkt nearby (Thursdays only)

Nice clean grocery+ store. The building still has a sort of new gleam to it. Easy parking in a not overly busy area. They carry a lot of brands you probably haven't heard of and mixed in you'll find some well-known name brands for certain goods. You'll find a smaller section of fresh fruits and vegetables all priced very competitively. A decent selection of baked goods and ready-to-heat meals. Throughout the store, you'll find some excellent prices and even if you're just looking, you'll end up grabbing a little of something. Checkout is quick and you bag your own stuff. Aldi's is the jam.

Visited Aldi today January 3, 2025, on Atlantic Ave. On their weekly ad they advertised flap meat @ $5.99/# talked to a person there and they told me that that sale was off yesterday 1/2/25. But not according to the advertisement online (cost savings no fliers) the sale was supposed to go through today 1/3/25. They also advertised Lamb Shanks @ $5.99/# but all they had was chops @ $8.99/#. So I guess in the small print it says while supplies last. This is how they can get away lying about their products. But they lied to me about the flap meat. Plus, you cannot call them b/c they say in the phone message that as part of their cost savings their local store phone #'s are unlisted, and they don't answer. It doesn't make sense how you can save on cost & have an unlisted telephone number. Never again I'm letting Clark Howard know as well. I agree with Jules G. Trader Joes from now on. LD Long Beach

If you're shopping for a family or trying to stretch your grocery budget, this is definitely a store worth checking out. Parking: Large free parking lot with plenty of spaces. Depending on how busy the store is, you may have to park a little farther away, but I've never had too much trouble finding a spot. Ambiance/Environment: WinCo is definitely more of a no-frills grocery store. It's large, bright, and usually pretty busy. The store has a warehouse-style feel, but everything is separated into sections that make it fairly easy to find what you're looking for. Because of the size, I definitely recommend giving yourself some time to walk around! Selection: This is probably my favorite thing about WinCo. They have a HUGE selection of groceries, including produce, meats, frozen foods, snacks, beverages, household items, and everyday essentials. There are plenty of name-brand products along with more affordable options, which makes it easy to shop according to your budget. Bulk Foods: The bulk section is a major plus! You can find everything from candy and snacks to nuts, grains, seasonings, baking ingredients, and more. I love that you can purchase exactly how much you need instead of having to buy a full package. Service: The employees I've encountered have been helpful when I needed assistance finding something. Checkout can get busy depending on the time of day, so keep that in mind if you're shopping during peak hours. Pricing: This is where WinCo really stands out. The prices are competitive, especially if you're doing a larger grocery haul. With grocery prices being what they are right now, I definitely appreciate having a place where I can fill my cart without feeling like every single item is overpriced. They also recently added tap to pay Overall: WinCo is a great option for stocking up, shopping for a family, or simply trying to save some money on groceries. It may not have all the bells and whistles of some other grocery stores, but the selection, bulk section, and prices make up for it. I'll definitely continue shopping here!

My experience at WinCo today was met with a sour note…read more I tried a free sample, came back to return the bag that I was originally going to purchase, and then explained it was because I wanted another option. They kindly told me which aisle the other options were, but they also asked me to bring back the product they ran out for samples for. I expressed I was personally in a rush because my party was at check out, also on a schedule. I couldn't find it, so I told them and they asked for me to stay put to man the station while they went to grab it. I see a few problems with this approach. Firstly, it puts a lot of pressure on me, a customer, to bring back the right product. WinCo is big and I couldn't find the product. Secondly, they should have had an employee be back up to look after the station, and not a customer that was wanting to leave. This is also a lesson learned for myself because I personally should have said "no" to the asks to begin with. In terms of groceries, I was impressed by the variety. However, I wouldn't say it's the best priced as most items are by the pound. Some items are obvious good deals, like 25lb of carrots for $11 and $0.33 per ear of sweet corn. The interior is simple with no theatrics. A huge variety of products on display. However, if you're looking for a specific product, that's difficult as evident from my experience. Lastly, they have a Pokémon Center vending machine. I purchased a few available packs but my last pack was never dropped down. WinCo doesn't manage the machine as its third party, so I had to call the number on the machine for a refund. It was inconvenient to say the least. Overall, I think this is a great grocery store for the community. However, boundaries must be set with employees' expectations of customers.

And mind you, perhaps you'll get a better tasting batch of strawberries maybe? The stall is in a church's parking lot, I believe, although I parked on the street and walked over. Went around an hour before closing. It's $8 for a pound of strawberries, so definitely not cheap. Especially when you can get strawberries for roughly $2.5/lb at Costco or even as low as $2/lb at other stores. I have really fond memories of buying strawberries from Thacker Berries back in middle school, and them tasting AMAZING. I don't know if I need to wait until even later in the seasons, but these were marginally "better" if not equivalent to the strawberries I buy at any other supermarket. I don't consider the 4x pricing worth it. The real killer was when I was cutting my strawberries, and the first one which was really large and promising, essentially ended up being rotted all the way through... My experience was essentially the same when I bought strawberries from another of their booths a couple of years ago. There's nothing really that stands out that makes them worth the extreme upcharge. I cannot tell if the flavor/quality has dropped or if I need to wait until the weather gets even warmer. Not sure if I plan on trying them again after two expensive misses.

It's located in Bixby Knolls, surrounded by coffee shops, restaurants, bars and breweries, yet it's the only true wine bar right there. Honestly, Long Beach has more wine bars than most surrounding areas, and since the South Bay is packed with breweries, if you're tired of beer this is your sign to switch it up. You will not regret it. The food menu has cheese boards, salads and sandwiches, and everything I've had here has been delicious. The cheese boards are better than sex. There is seating indoors and outdoors. It's minimal, but somehow we always manage to find a table. The service is consistently great and the owner is wonderful. She will be leaving soon and she will absolutely be missed, but what she has built here will definitely be cherished. The new owners fell in love with the place, so you can expect it to be well taken care of and to remain just as charming. Parking is street only, so read the signs carefully so you don't end up with a ticket. If you go on a Sunday there are no restrictions or time limits, which makes it even better.
