But just think about how you saved 26 dollars on your one gallon of milk you bought by not shopping at Cosentino's.

Great bargains can be had here, but you can also spend money on produce that you will be throwing away very quickly after purchase if not inspected thoroughly and used ASAP. Make sure to carefully inspect the ripeness / color / texture / firmness of every object and open those packages of berries; there can be hidden mold on many products. There is a reason things are marked down so cheap; preparing a dinner for that evening - go for it. Stocking up for the week - think twice. My favorite bargains are when avocados are 4 / $1 or flats of bananas are $3. A great way to overindulge on some tasty guacamole (get the seasoning next door) or a cheap healthy treat for the office staff. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd visit daily and knock down my grocery bill by 75%.

Bring cash and be prepared so you can quickly pay the employees who are walking around to bag your selections for you. They have a lot of items that are unique and harder to find at other stores, and they have tons of variety! Always make sure to check out the $1 sale bowls for deals on large quantities of super ripe produce (ex. 8 super ripe plums for $1 and 10 old potatoes for $1)

They have all sorts of meat from beef to chicken and even sometimes rabbit. They also have eggs of different varieties including duck and turkey. They also have cheeses and charcuterie items. They have lots of pickled items. And even premade meals like pot pies, breakfast burritos, mac & cheese, and the last time I was in a stroganoff. In addition to food, they also have a few drink options like bottles of wine and beer. They even have dog food and dog treats. The store itself is decent sized. There's plenty of space for a few people to move around. They do have a large deli counter and a few coolers full of goodness. Service is always excellent. They are always helpful and can even offer suggestions if you don't know what to make with what. One of my go-tos are any one of their sausages. They have traditional ones plus a few fun ones. And if you watch their social media, they'll usually tell you when they have a limited addition one. The Rieger whiskey and apple sausage is one of my favorites. They also have a chicken curry sausage, which is excellent and has so much curry flavor. On my last visit I noticed that they have mac & cheese that you can take to go. They have a few different varieties, but I went with one with bacon because their bacon is always fantastic. It was a really good side. I slapped it on the grill to warm it up and it was delicious. Highly recommend. If you are in the city market area definitely stop in and check out what they have.

The item I purchased rang up at a higher price than what it said on the shelf. Never a good sign. Everything was really expensive, except for a few things on sale - like, I managed to find a single-serve yogurt on sale for $2.50 instead of $4.59. They have some bulk herbs and teas, but the selection is very, very limited. They have a couple water dispensers in back which is nice, but there's no price listed anywhere. I really want this kind of place to survive..... but it's just so pricey; and then the service wasn't great either.

Staff here was overall helpful and friendly. Store was very clean and I did like the layout it also wasn't too busy at all but the aisles can't be a big claustrophobic. Overall solid recommend for a healthy store

If you haven't guessed by the name, it is a Muslim owned business. That said, they carry much more than just Muslim goods. This store is located in the very diverse Northeast neighborhood of Pendleton Heights. The area features a lot of Muslims, but also Italians, Asian, Mexican, etc. Al-Rahman is the only store in the neighborhood that caters to more than just one of those cultures. It is a simple bric storefront, but when you get inside and really start to look around there close and packed shelves, you find some very interesting things. Higher end pastas and sauces, REAL Coca Cola (made from cane sugar AKA Mexican Coke), Isreali olive oils and products, higher end Italian olive oil, and of course a plethora of mideastern and muslim products. The store also has lamb and beef cut to order. Two things to keep in mind though it is Muslim owned so I am pretty sure pork will not be a standard carry and the lamb is usually cut into sort of a cubed nature as it is usually used in stews and the like. I have never asked them to do chops, so not sure if they can, but they do get the whole leg of lamb usually too. They do carry some, but limited fresh produce (onions, jalapenos, and tomatoes). They get a delivery of fresh pita from Jerusalem Cafe every other day as well. The store also functions as a mercantile carrying some housewares, clothing, and whatnot. The store is family owned and they are all very nice and very active in the community and often times are a wealth of info about the area and what is going on. If you live in the area it is worth a stop in.
