I've been going to Joseph's when I visit my parents for many years. We used to go with my Mom…read more It's a wonderful grocery and deli, with a great selection of foods, both prepared and to cook yourself. Most meals we've taken to go have been great. On Thursday, we had nice, too big meals. I had eggplant rollatinis; my husband had a veal cutlet. Yum. Just too much food. We went back Friday in a bigger hurry, and just picked up a spinach stromboli and a chicken parm stromboli. The chicken parm one was yummy. But my husband expected an actual spinach-heavy meal. It wasn't. It was mostly bread and cheese with a smattering of spinach. I'm not usually disappointed with Joseph's, so I give this review the benefit of the doubt. Not every dish at every establishment is going to be stellar. I guess I just don't recommend that spinach stromboli unless you want a cheese and dough-heavy dish.

I ask the girl which entree and she said anything in the case. as she was wrapping up the items that I choose I said that is $30.00 right and she said no $66.00. I said the sign says $15.00 each and she said that was for the flank steak which was at the bottom of the sign about 4 inches down. I said why didn't you say that when I was ordering and she didn't understand. I saw the manager (owner) what had happened and he said it says flank steak I said where does it say that at the top flank steak only . He said well I see your point . The girl didn't speak very good English so I can understand how when I ask what the choices were she said anything but the manager in his nonchalant way said huh. No apology, sorry you are upset . This sign hopefully will be restructured better so someone else's day isn't ruined. I walked out without anything because he will have plenty of transfered people to shop there.

The food here is consistently delicious, it's your reliable go-to for Italian cuisine and gourmet market finds. With a wonderfully varied menu, there's always something new to try, whether you're craving classic pasta, fresh seafood, or specialty market items. The ambience is also great; grab a seat outside and you can relax with a lovely waterfront view. Today, though, we opted for pizza takeout and tried their traditional Florence pizza, an absolute haven for veggie lovers, loaded with fresh spinach, tomato, artichoke hearts and ricotta, a perfect balance of flavors. The store is very large with plenty of room to maneuver (unlike Carmine's). Their bakery has so many items, all the array of authentic Italian cookies and pastries plus all kinds of more traditional pies and other items, as well a variety of breads. You can order from the counter, and some things are pre-packaged to grab as well, such as canolli cream with chips. I like looking at the cheeses and the pasta bar. I usually order eggplant parm cutlets, try something new from the ready-made food section, my kids beg for gelato. I buy too many things at the bakery and walk down the aisles feeling at home amongst all the Italian brands. Doris is a full service grocery store with a full produce section and flowers.

Zero waste?... More like zero inventory. Finally popped in one day after driving past it many…read moretimes. If the point of zero waste is to have customers buy literal crumbs and dust then kudos on the business model. Store had next to nothing for sale, all empty bins that clearly haven't held product in a while. Even if you wanted to buy something, there was no clear thought given to placement of containers to be actually near the product for sale. Bulk bins were a clusterf*ck of pricing, not that there was anything even in them. Price per pound, price per ounce, price per "who cares". Completely inconsistent. This isn't a store it's a mommyblogger's failed craft project. Pretty sure it wastes more in energy to keep open than it reduces. The store is always nice and clean but, wish it had more items available because the shop either is out of stock of an item or most of the time just doesn't have it at all. Don't get me wrong, I will always come check this store out but, it just isn't a place where you have a reason to come back to on a weekly basis or a every other week basis. Love what they are doing and totally heading in the right direction but, the store needs to look for more products; not crazy ideas but just simple things. I didn't see this when I came in but, fruit and veggie bags, shopping bags, soap bars (shampoo, conditioner, shaving bars), simple things. Keep at it with your zero waste journey but I'm waiting for more to come out of the store. Edit: obviously the products have changed since I came in (like a month ago). So, I would definitely promote this store but, they definitely have a ways to go.

The store is clean, well-stocked, and has way more going…read moreon than you might expect -- fresh seafood, meat, a full bakery with cakes and breads, empanadas, café con leche, shakes, and tostadas all under one roof. We'd heard the bakery was good, but the variety of ready-to-eat items genuinely surprised us. We ordered empanadas in four flavors -- spinach, chicken, beef, and ham and cheese -- and every single one was delicious. Packed with filling and perfectly baked. We also got the veggie tostada, which was a standout: crispy tostada topped with purple cabbage, shredded carrots, and drizzled with two sauces -- one a pesto-like chimichurri, the other a creamy white sauce. Not sure exactly what they were, but the combo was chef's kiss. We also picked up some groceries while we were there, and the produce section alone is worth the trip -- fruits, veggies, cheeses, milks, peppers, and a solid spice selection. The aisles are stocked with packaged and canned goods from all over Central and South America. This place is a true gem for Latin grocery shopping and a must-visit even if you're just stopping in for a large café con leche, a couple empanadas, and maybe a slice of cake. You won't regret it.
