However, the bread was not fresh, and upon asking an employee they said they would not have any--I'm disappointed, especially considering the new rebranding. Additionally, I did not purchase any bacon due to the price. I once went here and only one cashier was on the floor, with a line that extended to the back of the store. This is highly unacceptable for a store, unless you are attempting to push customers away, which in the long-run decreases sales--which no business wants. Also, with no one to ask or no supervisor around (Anthony, the store manager is the exception since he often talks to customers and creates a connection), the poor cashier can occasionally struggle--especially, with having to bag and scan at the same time while have to deal with angry and demanding customers alone.

The store has great gourmet cheeses and meat/fish plus the best produce not from a farmer's market. I love going through the fruit and veggie area to see what's in season! The folks behind any of the counters are super helpful with preparation and meal complement ideas. My family has ordered the Thanksgiving special a few years running and it was probably the best Turkey we've had along with delicious sides. The store has a great layout and is super easy to get through when doing your weekly shopping. The freezer cases were also recently updated. Definitely a great local store worth frequenting!

Chocolate Chip Cannoli: I know this is going to make my Italian followers cringe, but I've never…read morehad a cannoli before. In fact, I was not even sure what a cannoli was. This was all to the incredulity of my Italian co-worker (but this is coming from a guy that didn't know the name of the Death Star....) So, for those of you that are as naïve as I was, here is a brief background on cannoli. A cannoli is an Italian pastry made with deep fried dough shells that are tube shaped. The shells are filled/piped with a creamy, sweet filling that typically contains ricotta. It is believed that cannoli originated in Sicily sometime between 827-1091 AD (about as wide a range of error as weather men make). I spotted this version in the bakery at my local Festival Foods grocery store. In addition to the fried dough and creamy filling was plenty of powdered sugar and the ends were teeming with chocolate chips. I thought the filling was creamy and not overly sweet. It was still sweet enough to satisfy my sweet tooth though and the powdered sugar and chocolate chips certainly helped. I found the shell to be a little soft and chewy, but not soggy. From what I've read the shell is supposed to be crispy, but I can't ding Festival Foods on that as my cannoli sat in the fridge for approximately a day and a half before I ate it.
