In today's world people don't take the time to thank people that go out of there way for you…read more last Friday I went to the Tony's fresh market in waukegan for fresh grapefruit juice they were out I was sad. Saturday I called and talked to Fabiola the women that works in the department that makes the fresh fruit juices and cut up fruit. She asked me when I could come in I asked her when she would have the juice ready . I told her I would like 3 bottles she said give me 25 minutes and that she would put 3 aside for me. I Went to the store and there in her section she had the 3 juices I reached into my pocket to give her a tip and she said no thank you I love my job here and I'm here to help. I also talked to the manager who could not of been more accommodating and was happy that I was taken care of. The feeling I got is the actually care about their customers being happy and I'm happy their employees are happy as well Thank you Favoila for the fantastic service god bless

If you have ever been to the Aldi in McHenry, it's very similar, but more open. Tons of people were there, but quick, assembly-line style checkout with friendly, enthusiastic staff. Great job, Aldi!

Store was clean, but the issue itself was the cashier, who seemed to be angry at anybody for everything. The people in front of me were scrutinized for not standing close enough to the people in front of them. Those people were scrutinized for not moving their cart, fast enough, despite the fact that the cashier didn't pull up another cart to unload the next person's groceries into. I was scrutinized for not having my groceries in the order that she wanted them to be in, even though she did not put them in a cart She just piled them on top of each other. The people behind me were criticized for not putting their items on the conveyor belt, even though they only had one item and the conveyor belt was wet. Overall, just a gruff rudeness from whoever was working as the cashier on Sunday, August 24 around 5:30.

I certainly do appreciate the fact that they have a sign RECOMMENDING the use of masks in the store and not requiring them for people. Thanks Sullivan's Food for understanding that. I'm new to the area and will always go here for my food shopping needs.

SMALL TOWN SHOPPING…read more Over the last 12+ years our little food store has changed. It went from Lakefront to Sentry to finally Festival Foods. The original owners held on as long as they could until they realized they had no buying power by only having a single unit. The only good thing about Festival Foods is we actually have affordable prices. They are not as low as Woodman's but much better then in years past. In the past I would simply cringe at some of the prices I paid. I even considered going hungry. Ha! This store has everything you will need in a culinary bind. This is our go to place when we are missing stuff or need a certain food item. The checkers are a little unfriendly and if you don't have the coupon clipped then they won't give you the sale price. This is a little annoying because literally ever store in America will say...no problem I've got the coupon right here. I'm assuming this is a direct order from their manager to be a pain because all of the checkers can't be this mean and unhelpful. They also have a small beer cave. The beer cave is always the best in the summer when I'm hot. It gives me a chance to cool off. I highly recommend you look out for the add on deals. These are great and you don't get these in Illinois. It's brilliant to purchase a 12 pack of beer and then get a package of free brats. This should be a requirement of every grocery store around the world. The parking lot is huge and there's a red box located outside in case you want to watch a movie. This store is the place to shop at when you need food. It's our small town grocery and we are very lucky to have it. FLASHBACK - This use to be the home of Grumpy Gary who use to make all of the brats here. He was always great to talk to and he really wasn't that grumpy. He use to have 20+ brats in his glass case. It was always fun to try and discover some new brat flavors. Grumpy Gary is definitely missed. He was a fixture in the store and part of the tradition I miss.

It took us about an hour to drive out to it. It's a nice place that offers a lot of locally-sourced organic food both meats, fruits, and vegetables. There are a lot of different products than at my local grocer, but the trek is a bit far for me, so most likely will have to shop here once in a great while if I'm out in the area again. The staff are very friendly and happy to help with suggestions and offer information on where the food is sourced. There's a cute little area on the right side of the store that offers fresh, homemade soups, sandwiches and maybe salads (not sure about this last one). They do have a section for fresh baked bread with no preservatives, which is great. The one exception is that if the bread is super fresh, the inside of the bad builds up with condensation and is moldy within a day or two, so we saw some interesting options but had to pass due to the condensation in the bag. Like I mentioned above, it's a cute place that is not overloaded with items crammed in every space of the Co-Op. There's plenty of space, lots of granola in dispensers along with various types of beans, and spices. If we lived in the area, it would be a go to place for us. Since it is not, we'll have to find other places to fulfill these items on our list.
