I love this store! The seasonal items are always fun, and the prices are hard to beat, especially on produce and meat.

I was never really a fan of Aldi's; however I have grown to really like some of the things they have to offer. I like their shredded rotisserie chicken; they have a decent and unique cheese selection, and their stuffed salmon is really good! The Pros: Unique items Decent pricing quick shopping great assortment The Cons: staff normally not very friendly normally only 1 register open The 'Fresh' meats in the refrigerated section, the packages are almost always pretty puffed out and bulging, so I have stayed away from these. ALDI has a great selection of food and unique merchandise. The store is clean and bright with well-stocked shelves. There are brand and off-brand products to peruse throughout the store. Have a quarter available to be able to unlock the lock to grab a shopping cart. Lots of parking is available, although the parking stalls tend to be on the tiny side. Employees are friendly, always busy working and polite. Bring your own shopping totes. Each time I visit this ALDI location, it seems to be swarming with older clientele, which means that the prices are very reasonable. read more

This store has really grown on me and I've started watching my mail for their sale flyers. Their sales are really good...but keep your eyes peeled for their one or two day only sales. From groceries, some housewares, and seasonal items, you really could do all your shopping here. I've always encountered friendly employees and the people in the store aren't animals...which is quite a change from most grocery stores. Amirite? The parking lot (which Aldi's has no control over) is a hot mess and the size of the parking spaces are teeny-tiny. Truly. It's too bad this place is so trashed every time I go in there. They're getting better about trash in front of the place but the men's bathroom was so bad today. It smelled like someone peed all over the place and scrubbed it in and let it dry. My eyes were burning. I got my business done as quick as I could. I've been going to Aldi lately because of the great deals on strawberries. Picked up a few items that I was surprised they carried. The prices are reasonable and they carry organic vegetables. I really really wish they had self checkout so we didn't have to deal with rude cashiers. I've been in a few times and been rung up by Hailey. Lacks common courtesy and just shoves items in the cart. I wasn't a big fan of Aldi when they first came to California. This particular Aldi though is now my favorite. Mostly because of their staff: Danny (who works the register) is a wonderful person, He's young but is exceptionally grounded as a person. Despite his young age, Danny is comfortable in his own skin. He brings this genuine strength to the table as he performs his work. This guy would be an accent to any company he works for Their manager, Erik (with a "k") is also a delight. This is a guy who knows how to lead without being a bully. He leads with diplomacy and strength. It used to annoy me that Aldi has us insert a refundable quarter into the cart to free it from its cart leash. Now I totally get it. This lowers the likelihood that their carts will be taken off the lot and never returned. Pro Tip: Go to Aldi every Wednesday. Aldi is the best grocery store around! The prices are ridiculously affordable! The store is very organized and well stocked! The staff is always very friendly and will answer any questions you have. The prices here no other grocery store can compare. Some great deals I found were 2lb bag of fish for $5. 18 pack of tampax pearl for $3. Pack of 20 tea bags for 99cents. Blackberries 89cents. Strawberries 85cents. Canned vegetables between 49-64cents. Full rack of pork ribs $5. Seasonings 99cents. All of the food always looks so fresh. Overall the prices here are incredible. Easily affordable. The prices can't be beat. They have everything you can think of plus more. I would recommend everyone to check out this store if you like to save money and find great deals! read more

If the Eastern-Bloc countries had a Trader Joe's this would be it. It's cold, sterile, and has cheap ass flooring.. They have standard items, but not deep in selection. If there's a sauce you want you're lucky if they have more than two different styles of that sauce. Remember it's the basics here, and most are in generic boring packaging (unlike Trader Joe's which sells the same stuff but in fancy packages with enticing labeling). I am elated that Aldi opened this new store in Escondido. We have been going to the first store but this new one is less than ten minutes from our place and we can resume our weekly visits to Aldi's, buying all our staple items here before proceeding to other stores for the balance. When we first started doing this our grocery bill went down by over a third. Moving to RB we were unable to keep this up because of the distance. This location will save us quite a few bucks. The store itself is great. Larger than several Aldi's I have seen over the years. It is very well organized. The parking lot is fairly large. They have folks greeting you at the shopping carts, a sign that they feel they need to orient people to the Aldi way of taking and returning carts. This worked very well. The store also has a monitor up displaying its advanced solar energy generation unit on the roof. It shows its anticipated energy savings and the reduced carbon footprint from this store. Very cool. Pricing is the usual Aldi value - you just can't beat it. read more

I initially was supposed to go to Bev-Mo to get some wine but I ended up here first to check em' out. I was pleasantly surprised. When you first get a shopping cart you gotta deposit a quarter and then when you return it you get it back. Ingenious idea ? so you don't steal it?? and or collateral?!! IDK!!! Lol anyways- the store is clean, organized like a warehouse style grocery store. They have their own brand or generic with some name brand goods. I was lucky that they stocked the wine close to the front entrance- just like that I saw what I was looking for and grabbed -4 Winking Owl's for less than 3 bucks a bottle. And... drum roll please.... the wine is actually pretty good! All of them. They have plenty of selection too. I didn't get Chardonnay, Sangria, Sweet Red, Pino Grigio but that's for next time! They are a great deal and no one would even know they are a 2 Buck Chuck or a 2 Dolla Holla ( unless you tell them-:) ** so let's just keep it on the hush-hush. It'll be our little Yelpers secret!! My husband and I are always shocked to see a CVS-length receipt for under $65-100, including meats and wine. They have such a wide selection of groceries that we rarely have to venture out to the 99c Store or Smart&Final for remaining goods. I just wish they would bring back the greek yogurt cream cheese. read more

I was driving by Aldi in between appointments in San Marcos and Point Loma the other day ... just had to pull off I-15 for a brief stop. I only had about 5 minutes to spare so my experience was limited ... parking was good, store was clean, and looks like they had a lot of interesting items. I bought just a couple bananas, ginger ale, and some dark chocolate shortbread cookies but I was able to see that the prices are good. I was trying to figure out what the store reminds me of ... maybe a cross between Fresh & Easy and Grocery Outlet? But bigger and more interesting? Interesting what a previous reviewer said about the silence. THAT'S what was odd/different. It would make the store seem just a little more friendly. That said, it was a very positive experience and I'm looking forward to having an Aldi in Ramona soon as well. read more

Can't beat the prices at Aldi. Yes, a lot of people arent used to the cart system (you need to unlock the cart with a quarter which you take back out when you lock the cart back up) but the prices make the store worth coming to. Yes, you might find some items cheaper at other stores (like cleaning supplies, personal care items, etc.), but overall, I think the prices here are cheaper than at other stores, including Winco and Stater Bros. One of the ways they keep the prices down and have such a small footprint is by selling only their own generic brands, with a few exception on certain items - like Coke and Gatorade. However, even on the name brands they do sell, there isn't a large selection, i.e. no zero-sugar Gatorade, no Cherry Coke, etc. All the generics we've tried have been fine. read more

I"m giving Aldi 5 Star as it's my go to grocery store and now that I'm familiar with it and the staff I like it for its' size, (not too massive) it's selection and quality. At this point I just want to mention that I'm not impressed with their latest sudden unexpected "Pandemic" cancellation of their normal good return policy. I have 2 non-food items that are in my car that I can't return until someone in the Aldi hierarchy decides they're taking returns again. My own personal philosophy and policy is not to do business with stores with poor return policies. I hope they decide t take returns again soon so I can get the 2 items out of my car. read more

There is an appeal to Aldi that has been going on since the beginning. Initially curious about their origins and unsure of what to expect it has been nothing but pleasant surprises. This place made us a believer in generic/unfamiliar brands. Every expectation has been met and exceeded. Love their selection of baked goods. Great prices overall for the grocery basics. We have been very satisfied with the two Aldi stores in Escondido. Today was an especially satisfying experience at the West Escondido store. While shopping there, there were no organic eggs on the shelf. When we started to check out our groceries, a friendly checker, named Curtis, asked us if we found everything we needed. When we mentioned there were no organic eggs, he said he knew there were some in stock in the back room and ran to the back and then ran back to the check out counter with two dozen organic eggs for us! Not only that, the organic eggs were only $4.59 per dozen! That is about $1.50 per dozen less than even at a Walmart. They have very good produce, organic beef, whole wheat bread, etc. all at very good prices. Consumer Reports magazine recently rated Aldi as having the best prices and good quality items. First of all these 1 star reviews are ridiculous, seriously the parking lot is huge , too bad if you have to walk your fat ass a few extra steps if its crowded. People not smiling at you in a review, probably because you have permanent bitch face on, judging by all the 1 & 2 star reviews, does not sound like you are a happy camper to begin with. This store is full of healthy foods try the fresh fruit and veggies for starters jeez. They have cold press green drinks, rice, and nuts too how about that. I have been going to the Vista location since it opened and have always had a pleasant shopping experience. I was excited to see this Escondido location open up. I come her at least once a week because they have such good deals on the food. All the employees always smiling and greeting me, asking if I found everything alright. If it is crowded they will put your stuff in a different cart and than use your cart for the next person that's just the way it is. Don't worry you will get your quarter back. I like that shopping cart rental thingy they have going on. you put a quarter in and it unlocks a cart, when you return the cart and lock it, a quarter pops out. Well the store (building) itself is very green and easy on the environment , wish more stores were like them. I suppose they pass those savings on to the end consumer because the prices are great! I LOVE this store and the location . Much easier for me to get to than the other Escondido one . As in from England , I'm used to the ways of Aldi for years we've done this back home ( deposit for the shopping cart and pack your own stuff ) doesn't bother me in the slightest . I can get European stuff here too , even though the stores are much smaller than the uk ones , I know do my main weekly shop here for a fraction of the price I used to at Vons . The staff are always friendly , the produce is always fresh and extremely cheap , and I just love coming here . read more

This is how a store should be, everything's genuinely cheap because the store cares more on dropping prices for people than spending money on the way the store looks. For starters, this is a weird location with very cramped driving and parking ability. Once Home Goods opens, I imagine it will be near impossible to get in. I was excited to visit, as I heard on the news that Aldi offers a vegetarian line at reasonable prices. The do, but all items I found were soy-based...I thought the world was moving past that as it is such a major allergen. I am a huge ingredient-checker and just about everything in that store is unhealthy. Don't go hoping for healthy foods without massive amounts of filler ingredients. Even the almond milk had a crazy amount of sugar and other fillers. So unhealthy. I saw several employees, including 2 men in suits that came out of the back. They didn't even smile at me...the only person to greet me was the basket guy at the entrance, but it was odd because he wasn't wearing a nametag or uniform and just seemed like a guy at the door saying hello to me. Lastly, the checkout. One register open. The guy seemed to be racing himself or something. He barely says hello, then proceeds to scan each item and practically throw it back into the cart. No joke. He lifted each item to scan it, then just Dropped it 3 feet back into the cart. Bread, canned goods and even glass jars. I was waiting for things to shatter! So rude! What is the point of hand selecting produce (which looked nearly spoiled to begin with) if they are just going to bruise it?! I won't be back. read more

It took me some time to come around to Aldi. I first went to the one on E. Valley Parkway, but that was years ago. It was also shortly before closing, so I didn't really have time to explore. My family in PA has loved this place since the store started opening locations there. I never understood the appeal. I visited the Encinitas location a couple of times before we left the neighborhood, but I was still not finding the bargains. Then my mom invited me to the AOS- Aisle of Shame- community on Facebook. I don't quite understand the group's name- it is a fan page where people share the deals they've found, especially on the aisle that offers a variety of bargains on random items Aldi has sourced great deals on. I tried again and oh snap, now I love it. They have these cookies that taste like the Tagalongs and Samoas that the Girl Scouts sell. Only these aren't $5 a package; they're $1.38 and they're really good! They've got multiple deals on breads that cost twice as much in regular supermarkets. I'm not a cereal eater or canned veggie user, but if I was, I'd buy them here. They aren't the name brands, but you can tell by looking at them, they're the same product, created for an off-brand label. I've picked up lots of items in their deli section- salsas and dips and salads and cheeses and have liked them all. There are frozen meals that taste just as good as their more expensive counterparts (but that are frozen meals, after all, so don't expect a gourmet experience.) Lots of dessert and ice cream choices, too. Even if you're not buying much, it's a fun place to shop. I bought 2 clothes hampers with lids for $8.99 a piece and a warm and comfy pair of padded slipper socks for $3.99. I also found some over the door hooks with a basket attached. I think they were $7.99. Take a quarter for the cart (you get it back, at least in theory. A couple of times, mine has stuck in there and I just didn't have the patience to try to get it out.) Take your own wipes, because the dispenser they have in front of this store is usually empty. That, and the limited selection of fresh produce available, is the reason I deducted a star, but Aldi is definitely a great place to shop (assuming you don't mind bagging your own groceries.) read more

This place is horrible!!! The selection of food overall is good but their customer service has made it so poor, I will not be returning to this location. Their service had been poor since before the pandemic but my experience today was so awful, It instigated this review. It was about 3:30pm earlier today, my brother and I walked up to get a cart and their was only 2 carts in the whole cart corral and one of them was broken. When we walked in, I had to use the restroom so I went into the only one that was available and they were completely out of toilet paper and toilet seat covers. Luckily I had things in my purse that allowed me to achieve proper level of personal hygiene. Then when I exited the bathroom, a checker was near the bathroom and I told her that the bathroom was out of paper products and before my sentence is finished she is walking away from me and I think I heard her mutter, "ok." We proceeded to finish our shopping and having to deal with items missing in shelves, employee pallets in the middle of the isles and some employees just standing around. We get up to the line and their was over 10 people waiting with one checker open and after about 10 mins, someone finally came up to open. When we finally were paying, there was no apologies for the wait, asking if we found everything we needed or anything like that. The checker didn't say anything except the total. Then we were bagging our groceries and a lady who had just paid dropped the glass jar of whatever sauce she purchased and it took an extended amount of time for any employee to come assist her and attempt to clean the spill.. Before exiting the store I went back into the same bathroom (still only one open) because I wanted to wash my hands and checked the paper products. There had been almost an hour of time that passed since I had informed them snd they were never refilled!! Horrible! Awful! Lazy, rude employees, unkept bathrooms, understaffed check stands, accidents waiting to happen with pallets being left on the middle of the aisles and unstocked shelves. I hope someone actually reads this who cares and can fix something and this store gets a complete overhaul. read more

My favorite Aldi in the SD area. We live in Mira Mesa but drive down to this Aldi as it's the closest location wise, and has great reviews. They're also really good about keeping the store well stocked. I can always find what I'm looking for here. I mainly stick to cheese and turkey sticks here, but can always find other goodies like chicken salad, all kinds of pizzas, frozen appetizers...even a few Keto/low carb products here or there. They're currently building one in Mira Mesa but it looks like it will be at least a few months before it's open, until then I'll be coming to the Escondido location as much as possible! read more

They have a surprising amount of packaged gluten free and organic options! I saw a number of gluten free pastas, premade or wide variety of grain mixes and baking mixes. I also picked up some organic snacks and sauces. Prices are displayed very clearly and the store is orderly with nice wide aisles for easy browsing. Also great prices, I'm a fan! read more

I seriously do not understand how Aldi is hyped up the way it is. Food is cheap, sure, but it is piss poor in quality. The produce looked so small, shriveled, and sad. Everything that is frozen there sucks. The store itself looks depressing inside, is always understaffed, and all the employees look miserable and look like they want to avoid everyone. The bagging area is so small and our cashier didn't care if our items fell over. Literally the only redeemable thing would be the snack options. They're pretty good for the price but if that's the only positive for a grocery store then that's pretty bad. This isn't just a one-time experience for me here, it's been multiple visits where I have given this place chance after chance to be somewhat redeemable yet after every visit I just feel more disappointed with the place. I would skip out on US Aldi honestly, there are so much better grocery stores to visit. read more
