I've been hearing about this store a lot! I'm on a strict budget right now so I finally came to check it out. I feel like I got a lot for $50!!! I would of spent more with everything I got elsewhere. I got several meals, produce, snacks ane drinks. Make sure to bring a quarter for a cart (you get back when you return). And bring your reusable shopping bags. Aldi saves money on payroll by not hiring a bagger/cart collector and provides customers with great pricing. Keep in mind they ring you up and quickly place items in your cart. I recently discovered this awesome grocery store this year. You can get your groceries for so cheap. We eat a lot of cucumbers in our house and I buy about 12 each run and it's under five dollars every time. If you don't understand the grocery cart system it's actually not that bad. It's an incentive to bring your shopping cart back to where it belongs. You put your quarter in to get the car out and then when you return the cart you get it back. Just no! I hadn't been in an Aldi's in 20 years, but when I saw this location opened, I decided to check it out. The best way to describe it, is it is a Big Lots with food & dairy. If I were to be kind, I would describe their product mix as eclectic. But in reality it is a mess. It looks like they just buy the discontinued/discarded products and roll it out on the floor. I bought a bag of brussel sprouts and it was spoiled and moldy. I would NOT go back to this place. read more

This is my #2 store. When I think I've got a bargain at the Grocery Outlet, I'm often surprised to find it even cheaper at Aldi. I've been here when eggs are $.77 per dozen. Organic milk has been as cheap as $2.50 for 1/2 gallon. Avocados at $.25 each. You've got to get here. And you'd think the quality must suffer, but you'd be wrong. There's some solidly nice stuff here. The same quality as Vons. A lot of what they have is the generic brand, but you can tell that more often than not, it's actually the same as the name brand, but with the generic label. Give it a try. Prices as expected from a budget food store. Layout is a bit confusing, and took me a few circles to find some items. The staff was very friendly and answered my questions. Location is a bit difficult to get to coming westbound as traffic on Valley Parkway is always heavy. Didn't use a cart but make sure you bring a quarter if you do! Green tea has no country of origin and is of low quality--most likely Chinese. Their popcorn is not that good. Their lunch meat has no country of origin. Salmon is farm raised in Chile--Costco quit selling Chile farm raised for a reason. Organic Mushrooms were old and slimy. Produce needs to be local and there needs to be more organic. I feel like this is a German Food For Less. It that's what you're looking for then it's a great store. I like that the isles are roomy. Costco quality has Aldi's beat!! read more

If you're willing to compromise your name brand items, this place is a great way to save. I've tried some of their items and they're really good. I bought a few variations of their trail mix (which are comparable to Trader Joe's) and mixed them all into one container. 4 bags of different dried fruits and nuts for only $10. Only down side is that you have to have a quarter on you to use their carts. Half the people nowadays don't have cash on them. Just sayin. read more

All this bitching about the grocery carts must be from fat people who sweat a lot just walking back with their carts. Use your brains and think. It really makes perfect sense! 1. Yes, it brings the cart back to the store for the next person to use. 2. You don't need to pay a person to chase around the parking lot to return carts. 3. You get your quarter back when you return the cart, so there is no charge to the customer. 4. Biggest plus is it prohibits all the dopers, vagrants, and pan-handlers from stealing shopping carts! This store is interesting, shoping carts need quarters to be released, the customer service was not good, during check out to hurry you they dont put ANYTHING in the bag instead they toss everything into the cart and push you to the side to bag your own produce. Bottom line the prices are cheap but there are no brand names, and customer service sucks. read more

Today in the midst of the Holiday rush Bree kept her same self. She asked me if I had gotten all that I needed. It was then that I realized that I had forgotten sugar. This store was very clean and bright. The produce section was very small and the selection was slim. The majority of the food was off brand/generic which I don't always mind but the few things I purchased that were generic tasted strange. They did not have much help throughout the store and there was only one checker open. There were about five people in line and with a family of 7, my cart is usually overflowing. I am very meticulous when it comes to sorting my groceries as I put them on the belt, and I was shocked when the checker just took my things I was purchasing and threw them, literally threw them, in another cart. My 2 month old was screaming at this point and I had to pull this cart out of the way, resort and bag my groceries. I will not frequent this store. read more

This is a german supermarket chaim and I love it. Its fast and efficient. You bring your own 25cents to get your cart which it is returned when you put it back. This allows the to save on employees getting the carts and they can give better prices. They have huge barcodes on products to scan faster and the lines move really fast because they do no bag groceries for you, this a european model and not the tipycal american store. And that is something I love. No music, crazy colors and dozens of each product full of unhealthy ingredients. Its simple own branded stuff like their brother company trader joes. If for some reason you did not bring a quarter you can ask the cashier for a cart or quarter, their website says this and i have to do it most of the time since i always forget, just make sure to give it back read more

I can't say enough good things about this store! It is a cross between Trader Joe's and every other grocery store. They change up part of the inventory every week, so it is fun to walk up and down the aisles to see what is new (and what to try out!). Prices are unbelievably low; don't have to worry about coupons, store cards or buying in bulk. Produce is always fresh, boneless, skinless chicken breasts are excellent and priced very low. Huge selection of specialty cheeses for that wine party, along with great crackers and snacks. Buy a baguette every time we go there, great Artisan quality. Quarter for the carts means I don't have to move them out of the parking places or dodge them. Milk and eggs are the cheapest in town. Go there every week to shop. GO ALDI!! read more

My husband and I were initially very skeptical about Aldi because of their off brands but after coming for a few months now , we're now regulars and can't see ourselves shopping anywhere else. It's important to realize that Aldi private labels which means they are actually brand names with the Aldi label on it . For instance the Millville squares is actually Chex mix! We have cut our grocery bill in half without having to sacrifice flavor . For those complaining about having to bag their own groceries , this is part of the way they're able to keep their prices low . It's a minor inconvenience for considerable savings . This store is clean , the aisles are wide and we are in and out in less than 20 minutes for a week's worth of groceries. Aldi also carry chocolate and different cookies and snacks from Germany/Europe which is a nice perk. I've yet to try it , but I do prefer European chocolate over most of the stuff made here in the US. read more

I went into the market the first time today. I was so happy. It was so clean and as soon as I entered someone asked me if I needed help. I told him that I wanted to know where the pet section was and they took me to it right away. They asked me if there was something I needed in particular I told her that I needed that I needed the pooper scooper that was on sale. It was not stocked but they went in the back to see if there were any left. This is our favorite Aldi. Parking is plentiful, store is clean and bright, great prices on basics, and fun Aldi Finds aisle. We have no problem inserting a quarter for a shopping cart (you get it back when returning the cart) and bagging our own groceries, and are surprised that some people consider this a hardship. I really like this store and always have. My first experience with Aldi was when they opened in Arcadia. I was pleased to see that there is one in Escondido that didn't disappoint either. The stores floor plan is identical in all of their stores. Their prices are excellent and their products even better. I like their own brand stuff and have found that many of them stack up to name brand products, some are even better. Their meat selection is outstanding and weekly specials are a treat. Ever since Aldi's opened I have been going at least 3 times a week, especially to buy fresh vegetables. I used to go to the 99 cent store a lot but Aldi;s has such a great feel about it. The employees are always so friendly making it a pleasurable experience just being in the store. Great prices. They are a little more than the 99 cent store but fruit is consistently better and the price of eggs is incredible. They have been around 53 cents a dozen for quite awhile, just went up to 73 but I can deal with that. It still beats the high prices of eggs everywhere else. read more

This Aldi store is closest to my home, but the layout (which is the exact opposite of the W Valley store) throws me off. Except for that, I like the Aldi shopping experience pretty well, but I still have to shop at Walmart Grocery for the brand name items I like. I have to say, though, some of Aldi's brands are great.
