I like aldi - MUCH much more than lidl, it's cash and carry competitor, which is kinda weird to say and compare because at the base of it, they are both operated by the same/similar German private families, run under the same profit-over-people "lean warehouse" biz philosophy, and arguably carry the same product lines in different packaging. But this particular aldi store just feels familiar, worn, kinda tired. I usually don't always find what I'm looking for because I usually can only make it over after work, when the shop has taken its toll from the day traffic, but the employees are a bit friendlier here than in the two lidls in town. I do normally do shops in Tesco, for the atmosphere as much as the larger variety and prices, but I love some aldi products that do make the trip over a worthwhile one: the honey, flour tortillas, Spanish chorizo and coffee plus the odd bottles of red wine here and there. It's kinda hard to say one aldi stands out over another specifically because they are all designed and laid out the exact same, with no personality, but it is what it is, though the fact this aldi has free WiFi access means you can at least listen to Spotify while you get your shopping and head to take your place at the queues building up to check out! read more
