Aldi is internationally known, I was in Sydney they have them at piers at some of the nicest neighborhoods, so when you see those low prices, rest assured a lot of their products are great quality. I'd say you get your best value in the grocery section. Fresh fruits and veggies, some of their deli products, frozen, and general canned foods. Some of the meats and seafood (a lot appeared to be sourced from Seattle) the prices tend to be pretty competitive but a little closer to market rate places like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. Housewares I'd check labels to see if they conform to your needs. I steer aware from some of the prepared apps. I didn't think the quality of those I tried matched competitors in price or quality. But one section people love is the liquor section. Aldi has has a surprising number of award winning spirits and wines. Good shopping.

This location has undergone a facelift and it looks amazing. The location has been revamped and is now a fresh store and I am so happy. The aisles are larger and the overall environment is light and airy. Nice thing about the renovaction is that there are now two entrances to the store: the original one that was off of Broadway and now there is an entrance on Broadway, so you don't have to walk all the way to the back entrance. For people that take public transportation, it will now be easy for them to get to the red line or the 36 Broadway bus with their groceries. Even the staff seemed new and shiny. The lady that took care of me was very friendly. I mentioned to her now much I loved the new layout and look and her face just lit with a big smile as she said thank you. The closest location prior to this was the one on Montrose Ave, near Western Ave. The store itself is amazing, but getting in and out is a nightmare. Now that this location has been upgraded, I can be content to come back here and do all my shopping. Some of my favorite items to eat are at Aldi's and now this one has alcohol. This has always been my go to store for parties. There looks like they have added more speciality cured meats, cheeses and condiments. There is also more organic produce and meats, if you are into that. And of course there are the seasonal items...today I got two packages of turkey and cranberry ravioli. No idea how it will taste, but the concept is intriguing. The hams and boneless leg of lambs were available as well as the fresh cranberries for making sauce. Going to give them a shout out on the prices of the avocados...$0.69 each as oppose to $1.69 at Jewel. I wish that they carried fat free cottage cheese/sour cream...then I would not have to go to Jewel or Mariano's.

Prices are what you would expect for a small "convenience" grocery store. They do have more space…read morethan Edgewater Produce, which they also own. It is within walking distance, which is a plus, though I do watch the prices and go to Mariano's or Jewel when they offer more for less. EVERYONE at the meat/cheese counter is great, and friendly. They really do know their stuff, though at times, I wish they had a ticketed numbered system. It would prevent me from going off on some of the older Eastern Euro clientele when they try to butt in line. NOT happening! The cashiers are efficient, though there is a tall male one that is new to me. Feels like his name should be Draco. Would almost pass for AI, due to his height an personality, though AI can be programmed to be charming and efficient. He literally saw me put down items on the belt and looked like he was confused as to what his role was, then asked me if I wanted a bag for all my purchases, despite it being obvious that I had none with me. I had to get snippy, because, well, I had to get snippy. Oprah did mention them in one of her shows, so they got "trendy" afterwards, but as other reviewers have said, they do carry items that you would find more at a Treasure Island than a Jewel, Aldi, or Mariano's. They are good for that. Now, if they would only work on their AI cashiers and make them more personable, then I would give them a five star rating. Especially since peeps in the hood voted down Amazon from taking over and planting seeds on the corner of Western and Lawrence, to take over the grocery store market.

I've been to this grocery store many times over the years, but never thought to review it before…read morenow. It's a pretty standard small grocery store, with a few things that may be hard to find elsewhere. They have some international brands, although the Mexican grocery store farther west on Lawrence (Lindo Michigan) is a better bet for Central American things. They sell some local brands, including freshly-roasted coffee from Brü Coffeeworks, also on Lawrence. Prices are a smidge higher than you might find elsewhere, but at least they're consistent and don't require you to download an app or join a frequent shopper club or whatever. I do wish they would stay open a little later. The staff are helpful, and they have a good selection of spices and seasonings. I wasn't able to find caraway seed elsewhere, for some reason, but when I asked a staff member if they had any, he immediately took me to the exact spot on the shelf where they had it in two different container sizes.

This store has a lot of great things to offer, but management isn't one of them. Last night I did…read moresome shopping in the last hour the store was open. Upon checking out.. no cashiers were at a register. ONLY SELF CHECKOUT. A 70 year old or so women was also checking out. This poor woman could be your parents or an elderly person you know. The manager here wanted to save what $15 so another staff member could be stocking a shelf? Crazy. Absolutely insane. This store is pretty decent overall, but the levels of disrespect this shows for your own staff and your community is just unreal. Whoever staffed the store that night should be deeply ashamed of themselves. The stockholders are gonna be ok. Put a working staff member on registers at all times period. What if someone got injured? The self checkout here has a TINY spot to put your bag. Move the bag a bit and the scale freaks out. I can think of endless reasons for a cashier to be working at all times. Think of members of your community who need help if you run a FOOD STORE. Think of ways to improve your business rather than screwing customers. What about people who are neurodivergent and have disabilities? All to save like $100 a week. I bet they pull cashiers every night that last hour. What an F you to the people you sell to. TLDR: 9:30pm and NO cashier working a register. Elderly woman forced to use self checkout with a cart full of heavy items.
